This was PGA Golf during the Tiger era. People who didn't play golf or even know the rules watched when he played. I have to admit I just started playing chess at the age of 60 years old because I stumbled upon a Hikaru Nakamura vlog where he was talking about playing Magnus. Now I have become a big fan of the game and its history. Just ordered several of Kasparov's books.
It's just amazing that there is no one to challenge him although by his own acknowledgement he was a better player earlier. Everyone has access to the same facilities/training then why can't anyone beat Magnus?
I understand that some grandmasters are satisfied when they finish in top 10 because of a price pool and format but cmon from viewer perspective it is so boring. I was so hyped for Abdusatorov against Magnus, yet draw after 5 minutes. Fedoseev against Andreikin draw after 9 moves, like cmon. This format is so disappointing, you should fix it for next year events........
Would that even matter?? Because after the first days when you go the the Top 10 the next day you'll be only facing the top 10 or Top 5 players all games.
