You got an “this is hard” and a “oo, good move” and a “you’re playing better than my liking” out of him!!! That’s a victory in my book.
Which basically means she won and he lost because hes not as good as he thinks he is 🙂
Edit: Guys i had no idea how chess worked plus i just learnt carlson is that guy in the chess game leave me alone im at work and yall harrasing me. Carlson the best 😭😭😭💀💀💀💀

"your doing a little to well for my liking" - best praise
pretty obviously a lie tho
Couldn't be more of a lie tho. He was ahead the entire time
They are doing this so fast I've no idea what they're doing
What I found particularly impressive was his comment at the start, how he would talk to the streaming audience, "If I win," not when he wins, but IF he wins. So respectful.
Anything can happen in blitz
Kind of a forgone conclusion.
He is Norwegian, a man of the people.
I don't follow the man's career. Has he always been that way, or has he been humbled over time?
Come on, he knows he's going to win!
Legend says that she let him win to hear "hi chat"
Legend also say that she was going to lose anyway
His mood dramatically improved when he realized she can actually play.
I mean she is a not a GM but still a well know player. Pretty sure Magnus knows who she was from the get go.
@@phoenixav9550 She literally mentions something they talked about in a previous encounter in the video.
Magnus knows her already… can’t believe the likes idiots give the OP.
I noticed that too. Guy might be likeable, but does not like to lose!
@@MegaShepardsPie she asked a question to him in world championship thats what she's talking about
I like that this is our world champion, someone with a good sense of humor and who is not so serious, he even makes jokes in the middle of the game, he completely breaks the stereotype of a calm chess player who just spends his time in silence studying
The stereotype applies only to humans: Magnus is not human.
Hes the peoples champion. Just arrogant enough just light hearted enough
He is not a likable as Hikaru kinda a bit arrogant but not much
Never knew there was such a stereotype. At least I never consider chess players to be anything like that.
Fr like I expected some old fart who is always negative and needs to be humbled

When you're competing against the person who is literally the best at something *in the whole world* , and they tell you you're "doing a little too well for my liking"...I'd say that's a victory in and of itself.
yep! she held her own for quite a while before making a mistake when she wasn't sure what move to play
correction: best at something *OF ALL TIME*
I'm pretty sure Magnus just said that because he's well-mannered
Yes maybe Magnus didnt play so serious in the start, unitil he started to play more serious, that he was abel to win the game.
If he struggled with her, hes not best🙂 it’s pretty obvious🙂 he is overrated🙂
Aw I love that he really had the game in good faith:) whenever she asked questions or got stuck he did try to give her genuinely good advice. When you’re so good you can help people and still win:)
Okay, that was so dang fun to watch. As the game went on, you eased him out of the mildly awkward mega-genius to a having-fun mega-genius. I'm a huge Magnus fan, and I'm really enjoying your channel, Anna!
I concur.
Anna: "Is this just losing if I go back?"
Magnus: "Yea. . . but it's also losing if you do other things"
Hilarious
@TaZeR Yeah, Magnus is a rather common Norwegian name.
@TaZeR In Scandinavia I wouldn't be surprised if it is (or was till the 2000's) top 10 most common name. Refering to the fact that since the 2000's most people (in Sweden at least) seem to start naming their kids nerdy names their grandparents had, that went out of style...
@TaZeR there's a famous climber called magnus mitdbo who's from Norway and since magnus carlsen is also from Norway, I assume it's a common name there.
@@LxquidVFX I am norwegian and yes, Magnus is a common name in Scandinavia.

First, Carlsen should not have been tapping the metal table which is distracting to the opponent. Second, this just proves Fischer was right about how classic chess is too much about memorization. I call it "memorization through familiarization"!

Well, Anna is not a serious opponent for him.
I think it was that added to the fact she's a pretty girl with a great personality. She charmed him. We saw his warm side haha. Defintely wholesome.

Hi Anna! Nice to meet you! Subscribed to your channel!
So cool to see you guys playing!!
What suggestions could I use during a match, when there´s a "smarty cheater" at the Openings that uses the Queen either on H5 (in case i´m Black) or A4 (in case I´m White)?
I always try to defend with Knight G1 on F3 (In Black) or Knight B1 in A3 (in White) - so I can protect my Tower in A1 somehow...
The problem is that the "smartty" guy/girl will lead the Queen at the diagonal, either on F2 (checking my King on E1 - In black), or D2 if I´m in White.
It´s harder if the opponent is in Black, but when he´s in White, I always suffer that kind of attack during the openings.
And the King can´t catch the Queen when it´s "above" him, or something like that... I´m still studying...
Of course I´m a starter player, but I love chess...
But I´m really tired of losing to these "smartty" ones who don´t like to play Honestly...
I mean... Instead of doing good openings and Developing a good balanced and fair game, they only use the Queen to kill all my chances, you know?
I believe that´s not Chessing. It´s just joking.
Anyway... What suggestions could I try? Could you please help me on that questions?
Thank you so much!

Yes, that is what struck me, too. His kindness in teaching, and most lighthearted I've seen him.
it's a fun game and Anna was never a threat. So, giving advice wouldn't hurt his game.
Seems like he keeps a student mindset as well
I thought he was kind of a jackass. especially considering that Anna is hot. Couldn’t act a little less above her ? Cmon
You kept him entertained. That is great.
It was cool to watch you play your game
He saw how the game would end from after the queens got traded or earlier, and then he was just teaching 😂 Gotta love him
She played really well.. at first magnus did not take it seriously but after sometime magnus realised that it would not be a silly game. So he focused properly
Yep, it finally occurred to him that he should probably focus his eyes on the board instead of her chest.
@@Wyl7 a valid tactic!!
“No.” Bro’s COOOLD!
Bro literally took zero time to think😂
Magnus is the best. Perhaps the best player in history recognizes both the joy and the struggles regular players face in a game they both love. I've never seen him show contempt for patzers and woodpushers. He jokes, but never at other's expense and often at himself. I don't see anyone capable of replacing him.
seems like a really good guy.
"best player in history"? Hmmm. Do you really think he could beat Bobby Fischer in his prime if he were alive today?
@@dunhill1 magnus prime > fischers prime
@@dunhill1 I said, perhaps. And it's obviously difficult to compare different eras. Best is also not your favorite or the player you model your own game after. My favorite players are still Tal and Lasker. With age I've grown to appreciate Capablanca, Botvinnik, Smyslov, Petrosian and even Karpov more. And Kramnik. I lived through both the Fischer glory years and Kasparov's epic fights with both Karpov and Deep Blue. Fischer probably had the greatest period of dominance we'll ever see and while he didn't do it completely alone, he didn't get the opening prep of the great Soviet players against Spassky. And he was right, the Soviets rigged draws. Fischer, Kasparov, and Magnus all have an indomitable will. All seem a little off. As if their minds work differently and were built for chess, but each in a unique way.
*
What makes Magnus special is the way he sees the game. Fischer saw it in terms of truth and best by test. Kasparov in terms of dynamics, yet always in terms of accuracy. Magnus seems to be flexible, non-dogmatic. He will play second best moves, play endgames forever, he plays way more openings than Fischer, and probably Kasparov. Yet, you can't completely separate his play from engines and databases. I think he had his style before engines, but today's chess is very different. What I like about Magnus is his humanity. Fischer and Kasparov were driven. Magnus seems more relaxed. Chess is important, but it isn't everything. And he makes chess fun. In the old days, the great players were lawyers, philosophers, diplomats, engineers, opera singers and concert pianists. I've seen too many chess players with psychological issues.
@@dunhill1 magnus is better than bobby. sorry bro
She is such a delightful personality. Always smiling and cheerful even when losing at her favourite game !
It’s not often you get to experience a loss such as that one…in some cases losses are more valuable than the win.
She didn't lose to some average Joe, she just lost to the WC and the best player of all time..
Simp
She has such a great attitude. She is also a great player.
C'est comme cela qu'on apprend et on progresse au jeu.
We learn more from defeat than winning
Anna is such a terrific chess player she doesn’t even have to set her purse down. and i absolutely love her laugh.
If ur magnus Carlson and just doing ur warm up on chess, every single opponent is gonna be like “OMG MAGNUS”
