It's amazing how the vocals can make you cry but feel good at the same time, that goes for 99% of ABBA songs.
Agnetha's and Frida's vocal blending is still untouchable and put in shame lots of todays female autotuned harmonizers.It's just so unique and gorgeous that is out of this world.An absolute Utopia,made in heaven.

The reason why ABBA is so hard to cover because of the layers of sounds and the intricate voices of Frida and Agnetha. Singers even the best ones are really nervous to sing an ABBA song because Björn and Benny made it so difficult by being so genius plus Frida and Agnetha's voices are really really top notch.

This was a typical Swedish flat 😂it belonged to Lasse Hallstrom it was his personal apartment in stockholm he directed this video amongst most of ABBAs 😉 This song is so poignant in it’s entirety it has the more mature lyrics that filtered thru The Visitors album 💜 Both couples are now divorced and you can feel and hear the raw emotions and energy within this song I feel personally 🙌 This was ABBAs last big hit well until ISHFIY and DSMD was released 😁 I love the clarity and raw emotions that Agnetha portrayed in her lead vocals and Frida within the Ahh’s and chorus when the two ladies are combined so emotional and eloquent ❤ This was also my first ever vinyl single I received it for Xmas 1982 😂

I feel the impact you got by hearing this.A fab song with nostalgic sense.Benny wasn't even keen on releasing it as a single but this went to be their last big hit before their 'silent' disbanding one year after.And then,almost 4 decades of drought until the VOYAGE era.Unbelievable.But people didn't wash away Abba.They were too great to be forgotten.
Good thing they did release it as a single! We are blessed they returned with Voyage! Indeed they were! =)
I was and still am in love with this gorgeous song. It still hits me to my core as it was also my late father's favorite song. So good loving menories with this awesome Abba some of the early 80's 😍😍

This was just after her divorce with Benny, who cheated on her. She was pretty devastated. I think her breakup was harder on her than Agnetha, who was still able to work with Björn for years after their divorce. Such a sad story for both the women.

This is one of my all time favorites. The Visitors album is a masterpiece and a tour de force of song writing, like all ABBA albums. The mandolin adds a beauty to this beautiful song. Both ladies voices are gifts. The harmony between these two beautiful and extremely talented women still surprises me after all these years. Music made in heaven. 🙏

I adore this song, and its one of Lasse Hallstroms best ABBA videos. If you listen to One Of us' lyrics you can understand the woman left the man for someone else and is clearly full of regret and realising she's made a huge mistake feeling she was a concealed attraction being robbed of her chances. Interestingly if you flip forward and listen to 'Don't Shut Me Down', apart from its obvious referances to their ABBAtars (Now and then combined), this could be the same woman waiting for her chance to try and get past what she's done and reclaim her original relationship. It feels very similar to the lyrical situations and story of 1977's 'One Man One Woman' which fits very nicely 40 years later to 'I Can Be That Woman'. In that scenario the woman stays in the not complelety satisfying relationship which 40 years later has almost distroyed them both. Too much lyrical in depth musings lol.

The melodies at the begining with voice punching trogh ..unforgetable aranngman of the guys with bass and layered voices one higher and second lower uniquely combined in abba sound sending me in some place of love emotions and most beutiful music ever made.

Love your intro. ABBA had such a full sound very seldom matched with their layering of audio. It just gave their music such depth. They just kept getting better and better at it with every album, and as Benny said there is no need to have a song with pauses in it (roughly). I really enjoy this song,it is a sad song especially when you think of where their personal lives were at this point as couples and a group. You don’t get to see videos where Benny isn’t smiling. I know this was all for the video but sad to see. Thanks again for the double header, was hoping to see you react to Tommy but this made my day. 😊😊😊

A beautiful song. It reflects the melancholy of The Visitors album I believe. I know what you mean about the sound being so different from the album you are reviewing now until this. It shows how Benny and Bjorn matured as songwriters over the years and just got better and better.I love this album but it always makes me a little sad as we realised Abba were coming to a natural end - until the masterpiece that is Voyage of course 😁

1) It is a beautiful song, it has a soft melody and melancholic lyrics that allow Agnetha to shine with a very sweet voice, and a catchy and harmonic chorus
2) was ABBA's last big hit, #1 in several European countries and #3 in the UK (last Top 10 of their 18 singles consecutives between 1975/1982, since "S.O.S.")
3) recorded at the end of 1981, the two couples were already separated (Agnetha & Björn almost 3 years ago, Benny & Frida a few months ago)
4) the official video is very good, it shows Agnetha (with a more mature beauty) acting sober and convincing rebuilding a love life from a move
5) In my opinion it is together with "Slipping through my fingers" the best song from the album "The Visitors" , where the melancholy and rawness of their lyrics is most pronounced in the context of a complex album of musical exploration away from ABBA's signature pop, and an image of the four singles over the two couples
6) the official video was filmed in Lasser Hällstrom apartament, the film director of almost all official ABBA videos and "ABBA The Movíe" (1977)
some fans said, with ABBA comeback in 2021, that the new song "Don't shut me down" is a sequence of "One of us" after 40 years
"Don't shut me down" (2021) is a fantastic song, a new ABBA masterpiece, and last Top10 in UK to ABBA an other countries, included #1 in Sweden and Switzerland

Although this is a good song the subject content is very sad and you can see it on their faces but it also shows me that this was nearing the end of Abba they just for not having fun anymore and Bjorn said in an interview if that should happen then the group would not exist anymore

@@6549Marci Even as a die hard Frida fan I must say the hair style she had in this video and also in Head Over Heels was not really her best. The purple style some time later was a little better but nonetheless in my opinion it made her looking older than she was.
@@Lisa-M Frida changed her hairstyle multiple times during her ABBA career, but from the "Super Trouper" hairstyle to that radical change, it was so unexpected and shocking. But I loved it, especially the purple style. In my opinion, it rejuvenated her. On the other hand, I never quite got used to her blonde era, though.
