==== WHO ARE WE? ====
Hola, Spain lovers! We're James and Yoly. James is a New Zealander, and Yoly is from Spain. We both live in Madrid. Our channel gives you a local insight into life in Spain and helps you experience this country like a local when you come to live (or visit!).
If that sounds like your kind of thing, bienvenid@!I
Business inquiries: hello@spainrevealed.com
I'm a manager in a very similar, very high end, beach club in ibiza. Would love to invite you and yoli for a lunch experience, including Michelin star sushi, if you are ever in the neighbourhood. My wife and I have been watching your channel since covid and we followed your eating tips in Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastián and more and you never lead us astray!
Errrrrrr hi 🙋🏼♀️ 😜
Omg it was incredible 😂🎉
Thank you! Would love to come sometime
@@spainrevealed it could even be possible as a day trip from Madrid. 9:10am flight to Ibiza, come and be our guest and shoot some content and 10:30pm return, landed in Madrid. Return flight is about 70 euro, I did it the reverse way the other day.
BTW, I'm an Aussie living in Spain, about your age. I can contact you via email if that suits? Would definitely be great content for you and very nice day out, plus beneficial for us, win win.
Yes, do it James and Yoli!
James, it is great to see that you clarifying about this trip and how the cost was covered, I personally have more respect for you because you valued your audience
It'd be nice to see you visit Marbella again like a local. You missed quite a few spots!!! You only saw the touristy Marbella.
People often forget that Marbella has locals and we are not rich 😅
There are many fantastic and afordable places to visit here.
Canuto máquina! Si lees esto, un abrazo.
I've been to Marbella several times. I've eaten at both the high end and local restaurants. I personally enjoy eating at Old Town Marbella. Sipping glasses of Amontillado in the old town square surrounded by orange trees is unforgettable I remember the old El Balcon de la Virgen. I don't know if it is still there....
Yes, definitely planning to do a more local version of this :)
@@AlbertoSanchez-se1kk we definitely want to make this video too! Love Marbella and all of its facets!
Hola Alberto!
¡Muchas gracias!
@@yanam.3492 I can recommend a couple!
La Venecia
Taberna Casa Curro
La Niña del Pisto
Bar restaurante Diamante
Enjoy!
Love, Hani! She was fabulous in the Malaga episode, and now I follow her on Instagram, thanks to you! This video is absolutely wonderful! More, please🙏🏼
She's awesome!
And please don't forget to tip your servers, TIPS ARE VERY WELCOME! 😊
Fabulous video. Thanks Hanni & James.
And the chef pulled out something that I've never seen before😂
Thank you for the BEST HONEST review from you, James 👏👏👏
Kudos from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Thank you James! Awesome video. Will be visiting soon. 🍾🎉🍾😘
Please do one of these in San Sebastian!
Hey James always nice to watch your videos. Me and my wife were watching you guys even before moving to Spain, now we live in Valencia and we're very happy to be here. Your videos helped us to get a very good vibe about Spain, so thanks. All the best to you and your family,
Thanks for letting me know! Best wishes to you and your family!
Nice to have you back 👍
Love your video!!!🎉 So interesting!
If budget and securing a reservation permits, I would love to see your take on the some of the restaurants and bars in Spain that are on the world’s best lists
I am fully available for collaboration on this video James ;)
haha, noted!
Would love to see a food tour of Marbella with a local, someone that knows the little places that are afforable 😉
Have a watch of the other Malaga videos - I think you’ll like them!
I enjoyed watching the video. I look forward to visiting Marbella.
I reckon the only way James stays so thin (when filming these vids), is that he doesn't use a car to get to the locations. He runs there.
Great video - Great food.... Keep the videos coming 🙂
Great video, shared by great friends!
Marbella has a cool music venue built into an old rock quarry called Starlite.
Been to Starlite last year and this year. Last year was well organised this year a shambles. Give it a miss.
Thank you for the video. Now, I have a new motivation to live. Im going to save money and go there.
Interesting watch as always 👊🏿
Was there a few weeks ago .there are a row of 5/6 chiringuitos along from the old town all cooking fresh fish on spits with a wood fire. Some of the best seafood I've had. Also recommend Bogeda la vinicia for amazing baby goat and suckling pig 👍
I pushed the Spanish boat out recently and bought a bottle of Pepe Raventós Mas del Serral. Pepe Raventós ancestors invented Cava in 1872. I’ll open it one day :).
Me encanta Marbella Club 🥰
Thanks James, you have no idea how much you've contributed to my follow-up novel set in Marbella with this video. It's great doing research, but to actually see these places means being able to describe them. ❤❤❤
I'm so pleased!
GREAT TRANSPARENCY JAMES!!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Good to see, and I gave it a like, but I really like your usual videos. Was great to see Alicante, I lived there for 4 years (I'm from NZ).
Wao Wao Wao 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
We love it, thank you guys. Definitely our next destination in Europe ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another yummy tour! ❤
All the food looked incredible! I’m from California, so the prices were reasonable, comparatively speaking. Our food would not be so special for the same price.
Nice feedback & great to know! Thanks ☺️
Completely agree. I lived in California and the prices there are comparable (if not higher especially for high-end). Currently I live in Norway and these prices are very good actually :), at least for the quality you get.
Finally, I lived in Malaga/Benalmadena and the prices in average restaurants are not really cheap.
The video is great and the food looks amazing
Thank you James, this is a very interesting video. Out of my price bracket too but nevertheless a great watch.
Wonderful 😊
Love your videos James. Looking forward to more humble and traditional surroundings ! Would love more videos in the north of Spain such as Logroño, Pamplona, Burgos !
Great video, very enjoyable from New Zealand
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video!
Just got back from 3 weeks in Spain and Portugal!
Was great
❤ from 🇨🇦BC
Wow, these prices are about the same as NYC! I thought things would be pricier. This actually makes me want to visit Marbella even more! Salute!
Defo not our place for a cuppa ! BUT the BEEF RIB at Andala Resturant (which is hard to find here) look excellent.
The best!
James, check out the finca Santa rosalia wagyu burgers and steaks - found in Eroski and Carrefour 👌
Amazing we have same in Calpe
Roast Baby Goat Shoulder? Never heard of this, but looks delicious. Great video. ❤
Very typical in Malaga. We have a small town called Canillas de Aceituno up in the mountains of the axarquia area famous for this delicacy 😋
Wow! This is the Beverly Hills of Spain.
Hi there. Just love your videos. We were in Malaga last week, visiting places you recommend (we loved it). I’m sure I saw you walking through Malaga last week when we were there, (Thursday I think) Looking very smart in blue 👍 but I was too shy to stop and ask if it was you!! If it was then I’m sorry I didn’t say Hi 👋 Jill
I think that must have been my twin! I was firmly in Madrid last week. But I'm glad I looked good! haha :) Hope you had a great trip
@@spainrevealed Then indeed you do!! 🤭 Keep up your fantastic work, I not only your knowledge is entertaining, but gives people the opportunity to make the most of the days they spend in these lovely parts of Spain 🙌🙌🙌
From Casa Toni to Casa Phony. 😂 Just kidding, James, great video. It's interesting to see the higher-end food that Spain has to offer. And judging from the amount of "OMGs", it'd say it's pretty pretty good.
I love your videos, any chance you guys plan on visiting Zaragoza? We're planning on moving there and would love your perspective.
Very interesting video as I have always wondered about Marbella. But probably won't be following in your footsteps this time due to the cost.
There are plenty of great spots to eat for all budgets - definitely worth a visit ☺️
Wow, James, what can I say ? The food of the gods ? Thanks to you and Hanni for showing me something I'll never get to experience but love just the same ! Yeah, F Scott Fitzgerald was right about the very rich - 'they are different from you and me'. Thank God they get peptic ulcers, gout, and occasionally lose their money in a stock market crash. I'm ready for my bread and water now, please. Thanks for this gorgeous video, James, Hanni, and crew !
Love when Hanni takes you out and about, she knows the best of the best places for serious food lovers. This tour was incredible, wish Yoli could have come. Thanks James and Hanni, this was special indeed!👍💕
Hanni needs to take Yoli next time! James can stay home :)
andrewbrunetti7533,
Yes, just the ladies,lol!👍💕
Sounds good to me!
James you went there! And frankly I am not surprised.
It looks fabulous"querido!" and really a place to try out if only to experience that top notch
dining experience.
I'm considering moving to Benalmadena in 2025 which is a stones throw away.
Undoubtedly I will be venturing forth.
Benalmádena would be a great move 😊
I remember I saw you in Marbella Central a few weeks ago, sitting outside in a restaurant with friends. Damn, should have said hello :D
My favourite part of Marbella is the old town
We ADORE the old town. Maybe if enough people ask for it James will come back down and we can do an ‘old school’ Spain revealed tapas crawl in the old town.
Awesome 🎉
Thanks for taking us to places we could never afford to go. Need to buy caviar for my tortilla in future!!!!!
No tortilla should be without it!
@@TheSpainExperienceOh hey, it's Hanni! :) Didn't realize it from your username! That was a very interesting into high-end Spanish food. You guys must've been completely full by the end of that day 😂😂
@@youssef16844 we were stuffed! 🫠
The cost is basically for the ambiance and a creative way of presenting brand name, a cocktail with the same ingredients you can buy cheaper at any liquor store and food you can make at home. It's interesting to see what lies for the amount of money they charge at a tourist area which I will stay far away from. Thank you, from Horta, Barcelona.
I've missed the food tours so great to see this. Missing Yoly!
Thanks, great video, but ...
langosta f -lobster s · locust s · crawfish s · hopper s
bogavante m -lobster s
And as what you ate had no tongs, not using lobster would have been more precise.
Thanks for sharing such an incredible food experience. All of it looked amazing, but some of the dishes wouldn't be to my taste, that's not a criticism just my personal preference. 🙂😎❤
Stay well friend.
You too!
Cool vid, looked very very nice. Did you drink enough alcohol during your visit? ;-)
Wow! That looks incredible! How were you able to eat all that food in one day? I can't imagine, but I would love to try! Lol
The crew helped a LOT 😅
Andala, wonder when Mark Wiens will visit his friend😉
Hopefully soon! 😀
That first place they go to is directly next door to the cannabis smokers social club I frequent when im in marbella lol
Jesus Gil,el Rey de Marbella.
Y tal y tal...😅
Isn’t it hot af in Marbella this time of year or does the ocean breeze cool things off?
It's hot, but the sea does moderate it a little bit (as anywhere on the Med). Humid though.
This year we’re experiencing cooler temps than average in the south (for now!)
@@spainrevealed The worst!
@@spainrevealed It’s not the hate, it’s the humidity! 😂
James, this is choice eh bro.
I noticed every CZcamsr who are promoting food channels. They like everything no matter where they eat 😂
Lovin the Silver Fox mate :)

❤❤❤❤❤
Hi all, and James. Wagyu - Wagyu means "Domestic Beef" in Japanese, it isn't a type. Japanese beef producers began putting stickers on their products declaring "Wagyu", in order to differntiate their higher cost products from (mostly) cheaper Australian imports. An appeal to economic nationalism. If I'm eating wagyu in Spain, then I'm eating Spanish beef. If I'm eating wagyu in Thailand, I'm eating Thai beef? When in Spain, a country that produces excellent beef, would it be necessary to import lower, or equal, quaility meat at inflated prices I'm always very suspicious of the use of the term wagyu outside of Japan since it isn't a type of beef, so what does it mean outside of the context of Japan? Kobe beef is similar in that it isn't a type of beef, it was simply a description of the cooking style, American style. Does a restaurant serving Kobe beef source it's product strictly from Hyogo prefecture? Maybe, and just as likely, not. Thank you for your indulgence. I know I'm being THAT "Well, actually..." guy, but this is one of the things that gets the pedant in me going.
This place had Japanese wagyu and Spanish wagyu (cows were born in Japan then shipped live and ‘finished off’ & slaughtered here). We tried the spanish version.
how the hell is this possible i was in marbella 3 days ago when this was posted what a coincidence
Meat looks great😍😍😍
¿dónde está la españolita? no os he visto por mucho tiempo... saludos desde Auckland
Really here in the U.S. you can spend that amount and not eat that well.
Now I'm re-thinking my move . . . . . .
haha
425 euros for a lunch… I was just thinking about retirement, but I think I’ll delay retirement by 1 or 2 years !!!
Worth working a bit longer for a D&G handbag cake, surely?! 😝
Vaya con el kiwi
🤣
Its all those Russian oligarchs and gangsters that go there who buy that !!! ...lol
Yeah the manager said 80% of clientele is international. Too rich for most Spaniards.
9 courses of Michelin esque food in Marbella is not 70 euro
And now...what will you do for your wife while she missed this ? Must be very exclusive ! Greetings from Hamburg
😂
The food in this video looks great and very tasty. But its so expensive ! Especially the second place, with lunch for 2 persons for over 400 Euros. Thats really crazy. I could never afford that, and even if I could, I would not be willing to pay so much money for one single meal.
You did say that you got the food for free, which I really appreciate. But I am not sure if you are really unbiased in this video. You praise the restaurants, even though you would never pay so much to eat there. That seems a bit contreversional / strange to me.
I don’t think James said he would never pay to go to any of these restaurants! In fact when we left the beach club James said to me “I’d love to come back with Yoli”!
Talking personally (although I think James would agree) we are not food critics. Therefore if I don’t like something we just don’t talk about it. The route was planned based on places we knew we already loved or wanted to try because we believed we’d truly have a fabulous food experience there as that’s what we are both passionate about.
I hope that helps alleviate any doubts you have about the authenticity of our opinions in this or any other video ☺️
@@TheSpainExperience Thanks for your feedback. Maybe I misunderstood. Sorry about that, and I really appreciate the great work that James and Yolly are doing for their channel.
In Spain I like Burger King because it is the only place you can find soda refills. You can add your own ice too. Kind of rare in Spain. They forgot the recipe for ice there.
Man, Burger King is the lowest of the low here...
Soda refills? Really?
@@viquiben4919 Yes for real. I know it is very difficult to find them in Spain. Ice can be a challenge too. Burger King is the spot. Just go in there and only buy a soda. You will see. Barcelona, Madrid, Salamanca, Alicante. Burger King has reliable refills. ELO Electric Light Orchestra. Do Ya.
The other side of the spectrum.
@@EMVelez All I am saying is of you want to find a place to get soda refills Burger King is the only spot. Kiwi will vouch it is true. It gets hot. Honestly I have been going to Burger King in Spain since 1984. First one I went to was in Salamanca. Do not diminish cold drinks. Sure you could get a granithada at the square, but no refills.
You know, the last time i heard anyone mention Andalusia was Black Francis in the Pixies hit, Debaser released in 1989. There was some other stuff about slicing up eyeballs, etc..but I digress. Love your content mate. It's choice bro!
There's really nothing like your content. I've watched some of your videos multiple times. I know youtube is a thankless lover (Barcelona vs your Paradores videos), but other content is barely watchable. a) can you make more content? b) can you refer other content?
You should have amped up the dress code rather than jeans. You stick out.😂
Have you taken q new mortgage to pay for rhis😂
I hope you didn't eat all that in the same day.
I'm afraid so
@@spainrevealed Oh hehe 😬. Next time you will have to do it in two or three days. That way I think you will enjoy more the food.
I may be old school, but when James was in Marbella with Yoli at these beautiful, expensive, Michelin star, upscale locations, is it asking too much for him to not look like he just took out the garbage from his house? Wearing old jeans, a t-shirt, days of unshaven beard growth, etc., in my mind it shows a lack of respect for the establishments he was visiting, their guests and himself. Just saying.
That’s ridiculous, just wear what you feel confortable wearing and stop judging other people, that’s not “old school” it’s just snob behaviour.
James you look too thin, I hope you are OK and healthy. Looking at this video I was thinking it must be wonderful to be able to afford to go to places like these…so far I have been to 5 stars places in third world countries because they are easy on the budget, usually half of the price you would pay in the US or Europe….if you are a good cook you are able to enjoy some dishes that you can prepare at home, for me my favorite is lobster and I wait for specials to be able to prepare my favorites recipes with it. Still for most people who live on a salary it is impossible to afford it…😊😊😊
Thanks for your comment. I've never been healthier :) Working with a personal trainer, so I lost a bit of the extra fat I was carrying.
Decadent food pleasures!
Great video from channel 😊😊 Thanks, for nothing!?
With all the poverty around the world this just shows how much and why the Rich are disliked by the working classes... Overpriced grub I have to say.... Endof.. Tony cuenca
Guiri go home
Nintai is horrible im sorry.
We loved it! Thats the wonderful thing about being human - we’re all different with different tastes and food especially is completely subjective to the person eating it! I can’t say “you’ll love this” I can only say “I love this” ☺️
Thank you for showing me where not to go eat 😂 💰
We are no longer welcome in Spain😉 your video not make sense anymore😂
Perhaps he could learn to eat. Having your elbows in the table and dipping your head down to reach the fork is a dead giveaway
❤️
Just shows you the rich have no class, my wife is a Spanish chef
