  • Ciao tutti! Here is Part 1 of my rustic Tuscan kitchen renovation makeover. This episode, filmed in my home in Tuscany Italy, I share with you my DIY approach to creating an Italian farmhouse style kitchen with hand painted tiles and vintage details. You can find many more videos on my channel about how I learned Italian and moved to Italy. Making these episodes alone is very time consuming and expensive and if you would like to support my work, you can find my Patreon page here:

Investment is one of the best ways to achieve financial freedom. For a beginner there are so many challenges you face. It's hard to know how to get started. Trading the forex market has really been a life changer for me. I almost gave up on crypto currency at some point not until I got a proficient broker Mr.Bencesaro to handle my trades. I made more profit than I could ever imagine. I'm not here to converse much but to share my testimony; I have made total returns of about 10.6BTC from an investment of just 1.95BTC. Thanks I'm really grateful especially during the lockdown. I have been able to make a great returns trading with one of the best platforms around. Kylie, if anyone ever asks you why you love Italy, just direct them to this video. It reveals a lot about why you love the country and the culture. You appreciate authentic beauty over modern, artificial, and manufactured aesthetics. Real beauty does not need to be expensive, but it does require a lot of work (by hand). You are decorating your kitchen like we used to decorate churches. The modern churches in America are ugly by comparison. Your new cucina is looking great. The white is a big improvement and the hand-painted decor is beautiful too. I look forward to seeing the new stove. Your love of authentic beauty is inspiring. You decorate your kitchen just like you make videos. A tremendous attention to detail that most people are unwilling to do because they don't want to do the work. The finished product, however, is bellissima. :-)

@@gladyrose21 Thank you, Glady Rose. Aside from all of the beauty that Kylie is bringing to this Tuscan home, there is also some relationship humor just below the surface. The old kitchen was perfectly fine for a bachelor who probably didn't do a lot of cooking. Women help men in a variety of ways, including helping us to convert a kitchen from something a college student might furnish and sparingly use to something with real appliances for a talented chef. Also, the brief video at the beginning of Kylie in the window mixing something in a large bowl serves no purpose other than to get you to smile. It's why she is so talented. You see those kinds of scenes in movies, but never in CZcams videos.

How wonderful to hear that seller talk about the foreigners’ love for the original materials. I’m Swiss and we have a 300 years old vacation house in the Italian part of Switzerland. My parents bought it 40 years ago and invested a lot of love, sweat and tears in getting it from a ruin back to its former glory, using old materials, like flooring and paint colours. Often foreigners are depicted as lacking culture.

I wanted this video to go on forever ! I love how you see things, how you align your life and surround yourself with beauty and happiness.
People never seem to understand why I always thrift homegoods, clothes, fridge, radio, armchairs, books, mirrors, even suitcases; they are constantly telling me that new objects "are better". But as you say, antiques or thrifted objects have a story, have a soul, and they also encourage upcycling and reusing vs consuming and producing. And that is where I want my money to go, encouraging small businesses and thriftshops.
So thank you for making me feel that this uniqueness is shared and appreciated by you and also your lovely community!
    Lots of love!!

  • @Jesusisallandiamnothing

Wow I would love to do this. In my early 20s I brought a miner cottage and was happy single girl who wanted to do it up on her own. I met my builder hubby now married who helped me so much that it ended up being ours. And I really lost that chance to challenge myself without help. Now in my 30s with three young kids I have a secret plan to start a project like this in a few years when the kids dont need me as they require being so young.
Thanks for inspiring that spark. Beauitful x

Wonderful Kylie, so enjoyable. Just discovered your channel & I adore it. I am an Italian immigrant from Abruzzo, from a small village called Capestrano. I am now 62 years old and interestingly my love for Italy has only grown, even though I came to Melbourne in 1962 with my mother to meet my father here, and not remembering Italy at all ( of course having been back many times, since) my connection is very great. I am looking forward to this Covid nightmare to end so that we can all visit again. I think what your interview showed to is that Italians sometimes haven’t always appreciated what they have, I suppose that happens when you are surrounded with such beauty & history. I could go on for ages but suffice to say keep it up your doing a beautiful job, best of luck and keep safe. Auguri e buona fortuna, ciao Nella Watson

Glad I just stumbled upon your channel. I’m in the process of moving and have been watching some decorating channels and yours just popped up in my recommendations.
I’m moving from a 4 year old cookie cutter home in a typical American suburban neighborhood to a home almost 70 years old in the historical section of town. The home I’m moving from has a man made pond in the backyard which they used soil they dug for the foundation of the houses here. This caused phosphorus levels to become too high, killing off beneficial bacteria so you can’t grow gardens here or fungus and viruses will overrun them.
The place I’m moving to has mature trees in an established landscape next to a real river. I’m going to plant a little garden and decorate the old house. Your remodeling ventures are by far the best I’ve seen. My house is spanish inspired with front arches and a built in trellis I will grow a bougainvillea on, which makes your style and remodeling endeavors a perfect inspiration for how I’m remodeling.
What I’ve just learned from you is take my time and don’t rush in and... research research research!
Thank you for recording your journey for us. You’re very inspiring and so intelligent beyond your years. 💕

Kylie, your kitchen reno is just lovely and made my day. I love how you paid so much attention to detail.
it's wonderful that you could access genuine Tuscan products. Some tips for future stencilling projects that may assist is to:
    1. Buy more than one of the same stencil depending on the size of the job.
    2. Use an adhesive stencil spray to prevent bleed through or smudging. The appropriate stencil spray will allow you to remove the stencil and place it in a different spot several times before you must respray. You don't need tape to hold it in place either and it creates nice sharp crisp outlines. make sure to spray the stencil with the adhesive on a piece of cardboard away from the surface being stencilled. I would advise researching relevant stencil spray adhesive products available in Italy that are also suited for the surface being stencilled.
    3. Instead of a finger which worked wonderfully but is more time consuming, you could choose to use a craft/artist stencil brush (these are brushes designed specifically for stencilling, they look a bit like kabuki makeup brushes) or small sponge, which you load evenly with paint, then pounce a few times onto paper to remove excess before you apply to the stencil - by pouncing lightly. You will still have control of shading as you did with your fingers and also use another stencil brush/sponge to apply the second shade.
    4. Another way to contrast the two shades as you did manually is to stencil in one shade, allow to dry, remove the stencil and reposition it so it is still over the design you just painted but slightly out of sync with it. With such a delicate design, your stencil would only be a few millimetres shifted above or below the painted design, then strategically apply the the second shade. This is a quicker method which still allows control over shading. Of course, experiment and practice first before attempting your masterpiece.

Such a JOY to watch. I loved the conversation at the antique market, so much of what was said resonated with me as well. The history in an object cannot be replaced with a “vintage styled” piece, the history is embedded in the object. ... I also admire the slowness you have to make art (whether filming, baking, tiles, etc.) that really has made me change the way I approach each aspect of my day, that even the minor details deserve to be done with excellence- because each of those mundane moments are moments of MY life! Thank you for the constant inspiration! Looking forward to the reveal! 🌸🌸

Wow, I can't begin to explain how much this has inspired me. To find beauty in nature, in hard work, in culture. To find true happiness remembering what truly matters. No need to have a new, shiny kitchen with all the gadgets. Beauty and happiness are in the simplicity of pure life. Thank you so much Kylie for this video 💗

I love all your videos but this has touched the soul of why I love Italy and its history. How deep was the comment from passionate Danielle regarding when you touch some of the material and think that the discovery of American hadn't even happened. By the way your kitchen is makeover is looking so homely already. I love the personal paint touches. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Kylie, I love your work and your passion about Italy. A passion I share. I bought a home in Abruzzo and I feel so at peace when I’m there. Because of COVID, I haven’t been able to get back there for almost a year. You inspire this old man in many ways. I would love to meet you when I’m back “at home” in Italy. Keep doing the videos so at least I’ll feel like I’m there! Ciao.

Your finger painting is creative and came out lovely! You can also get this effect by getting a round stencil brush and dab the paint into the stencil with heavy or watered down color. If you don't want to do any design in the center you can stager a few tiles in the middle that compliment or match the border design.

Misterbethere, I live the idea of staggering a few complementary tiles inside the border tiles. That would look great.

Hi Kylie, all that you do and say about Italy is why this immigrant daughter decided to move back to Italy 35 years ago when many of my friends and family in Canada thought I was crazy. I love ❤️ how you get excited about living here, I am the same and often times Italians just don't get it, they can't believe how I left Canada (known for it beautiful sceneries, and great standard of living) for the Italian way of life, 's ok though, I'm so happy here, more than I ever was there, living in Italy has given me so much. I always say Italy is like a diamond, everywhere you look at it it shines, wether with its perfections or its flaws. Can't wait for part 2 xx 😘 Olympia

Your videos inspire me on so many different levels. To travel back to Italy as soon as possible, to look for the beauty in things that surround me, to appreciate a more simple life. With everything going on in the US, I am even more determined to find my place of simple joy be it here or abroad. Life is too short (especially at my age 👵🏼) to not surround yourself with people and things that bring you joy. Thank you again for being such an inspiration ❤️
