TBH, TLJ's new ships almost all looked hideous. The resistance bomber is a pez dispenser with wings. The Dreadnought looked like a pizza slice with a wang stapled to the bottom. The resistance ski speeder is a jumbled mess even for a scrap ship. The resistance transport pod is at least not really seen head on much, but it really looks like a joke ship. At least snokes ship and the gorrila walkers looked kinda decent, but not remarkable.
Actually almost all the Disney made ships look awful, with really messy or uninspired profiles. The only design I can think of that I actually found appealing of any of the new movies is the U wing, which both has a unique look and blends well with its older counterparts.

What if, instead of Kylo going to Mustafar to collect the Sith wayfinder, he travels to coruscant to collect the one in possesion of the emperor. That way we get an idea of live in the core under the rule of the First Order and Rey & friends could've gone to a much more interesting planet (Mustafar) to collect the second one. I realize that this doesn't allow for Jannah to appear of Kef Bir, but lets be honest with ourselves here. Jannah didn't impact the plot in any significant way. The 'big' duel could've also been on Mustafar (which might seem like fanservice) but Kylo dueling on top of a ruined castle that once belonged to the man he idolized for the past 2 movies would've a very powerful scene.

The Supremacy should’ve been Supreme Leader Kylo Ren’s flagship. Just like how the Executor was revealed in TESB and continued to show up in ROTJ. Just have it’s damaged wing be half rebuilt but the Supremacy itself still be operational (similar to the DS2). It would also show that the Holdo Manoeuvre wasn’t all that effective considering the Supremacy was still intact and easily fixable.

With much damage brought upon the Supremacy, it’s more likely undergoing top priority repairs somewhere in First Order space.
Had it appeared in Ep 9 operational while undergoing repairs, it wouldn’t have made sense lore wise and would’ve been dumb production wise. Then again, they just took an Imp-I, slapped an unneeded planet killer gun on its underbelly, increased its size by 1.5 without accounting for armaments, interiors and all that, so nothing could get dumber than that.

You can have the greatest directors in the biz working for you, but it doesn’t mean jack if none of them can agree on where the films are going.
Disney wanted to duplicate Marvel’s formula, and they’re paying for it because they don’t understand what made it work: every director knew where the story was going, and built their films based around that end destination.

My problem with the sequel's ship design is that they clearly DO know how to design ships and make really epic dogfights and space battles.
The T-70 is a fucking fantastic design, probably the best looking Star Fighter i've ever seen. The Resurgent Class Star Destroyer makes perfect logical sense in-universe as the "next step" in ship design, and the actual design is really cool. The Mega-Class has a unique design and purpose that - while not handled well - was really cool for what it was. The various advanced Tie designs we see Kylo Ren use are all really well made.
Even the minor changes, like the new A-Wings, SF Ties, the MC-85 etc are all really good.
But there was nothing NEW in my opinion. Yes 90% their designs are amazing but when you don't have any NEW ships in prominent roles then it suffers drastically. The only really new ships we see are either destroyed within a few minutes or aren't shown off. They should've used a Starhawk instead of the MC-85 imo. Or even just some upgrades on some of the lesser known ships. Let's see some upgrades on the Raider Corvette or the MC-30.
This is my problem with the entire trilogy, Everyone working on it clearly had potential. The writers, designers, music composers, artists, etc etc all created a lot of fantastic ideas for the sequels, but they let the side down in other areas. For every amazing ship, there's a not so great ship. For every amazing character, there's a not so great character. For every Resurgent we have a Xyston. For every Kylo we have a Hux.

The first design with the open "jaws" - would have been great as squadron command ships each armed with an axial super laser in the "mouth" - requiring some amazing flying/targeting to actually disable. Having them as element leads, and supported with resurgents / Xysthon class (de super-lasered) would have meant the continuation of threat within the movie. Esp if the jaws move. Could be a variety of superweapons carried - as it adds an element of uncertainty - giving every ship a super laser is kinda boring. The Resistance know they have to take out every ship. If they have to pry the jaws open first to see, that makes their job a lot trickier, as they could be risking precious starfighters for no reward. - or a cloud of tie fighters coming out of an extra hanger - or a battery of anti-starfighter missiles and turbolasers. Though in seriousness, if I had a bunch of ISDs laying around and I had to make them into something useful on a budget, hear me out on this one. Take two ISDs, put them belly to belly. Yank out both ventral reactors and replace with one large reactor that's more powerful than the two combined. Make a superstructure to link the two hulls together and protect the new reactor. The remaining gap between the two hulls now gives you a very generous hangar space, perhaps even a berth for small frigates and corvettes to be refueled/repaired in zero-g. Relocate a few things (bridge, sensors, shield generators, guns) around for practical ergonomics, add a little point-defense, and viola, you're set.

It would have been nice if things had been different with Episode IX, but I also understand why they went the way they did with it. So I'm not going to hate Episode IX, in fact I'd go as far as to say I love it. But I do agree it might have been better if it had been helmed differently. I would also say the same about Episode VIII, love it but could have been better.

At 3:00, that smaller ship at the far left looks like it came straight out of the Star Wars Legacy comics.

I liked the gladiator and have always enjoyed the middle hanger idea.

I swear the one ship in the tweet reminded of the Harrower class dreadnought from SWOTOR.

The concept art is better then the movie and all of it looks great. Great video

At least the concept art considers the fact that no navy capital class ship flies or sails without support vessels. The First Order and Sith Fleets are just there for posing.

The resistance would have died at the beginning of TLJ if they had escorted the Dreadnought. Hell if Huxley had kept his ship within range of the Dreadnought, he could have used his main batteries to sweep the bombers away.

The second one he showed kinda reminds me of a harrower class dreadnought with flares on the bridge
