Can I definitely agree that it was Sad a skip so many cool ideas for the star fighters that the 1st order could have used some of them looked really interesting and well made
EckhartsLadder would mini Lego star destroyers count as fanon styled star wars material
Not gonna lie I wanna see space dock cover some fanon too
You said it bro.
At least the Resurgent put in a secondary bridge deeper inside of itself just in case the first bridge blows up. Sort of like the battle bridge on the Enterprise.
The Resurgent Class Star Destroyer has an emergency bridge, which takes control in the case of the primary bridge's destruction. Look up the Resurgent Class Star Destroyer cross section. The bridge seems deeper in the hull and less exposed than the primary bridge.
@@crispynaeem6011 Um, isn't that what I put? It has a second bridge that is deep inside in case the first one blows up. Did I write my first comment wrong or are you saying that it can still be seen but it is much harder to get at it because its deeper in the hull?
The Executor class has 3, the observation bridge, the secondary battle bridge, and a tertiary bridge elsewhere incase the other two break down. At endor however, the Executor's other bridges weren't manned, because Imperial Arrogance.
@@stephenlutz6936 Sorry about that... the emergency bridge was built deeper into the hull, therefore allowing it to not be exposed.
@FireBlade23 MM3 Oh okay. I thought I wrote something wrong there. I was confused when I first read your comment.
Ahhh I like what I see... that the space Doritos still live on but just in a more modern look and design.
What about the space mouse cursors?
@@ratbat1072 Thanks man, now I see a little Executor everytime I look at my mouse cursor!
@@ratbat1072 :o can't believe I forgot about the space mouse cursors!
The First Order Stormtroopers Concept Designs look cool
I gotta agree with you I think it looks a lot better than the design they went with in the end, I really hate the look of the first order Stormtroopers and after having some of the quotes from this book I think I'm starting to realise why the new trilogy's art style is so disjointed it's the whole making things sleeker idea they either go overboard with the idea like with the first order Stormtroopers, backtrack like with the Resurgence class or reuse original trilogy designs with one tiny design detail change like giving the TIE fighter a new coat of paint and an antenna and calling it a new fighter, another problem with a lot of the new designsis something I believe was brought to the forefront when Eck was talking about the TIE fighter design concept and how they probability didn't use those designs because they were too bulky and they wanted to distinguish them from the resistances designs and distinguishing the designs of your villains and heroes is important the problem is that no matter how much it wants to be The Force Awakens isn't A New Hope it doesn't have the luxury of being the first film in the series it's the 7th which means it can't just distinguish it's villains from its heroes it has to distinguish its current villains and heroes from previous villains and heroes and that's something a new trilogy really fails to do it just constantly falls back on the designs of the original trilogy slightly updated and tweaked anyway this comment ended up being a lot longer than I planned so I guess I'll just end it here
@@sammywhite5127 It bothers me the final First Order Stormtrooper design was inspired by Apple products (really!). The idea of making things look 'new' by smoothing out all edges makes sense when it comes to consumer products, but applying that to battle armour for villians makes no sense at all.
@@swall something I could never unseen one someone pointed it out to me is that the first order stormtrooper helmet looks like a duck's head
Why is the concept art for the Sequels infinitely more creative than the re hashes they went with??
cus it usually is with almost everything
Most of the designs are great, such as the Supremacy, Ressurgent, AT-M6,the Tie silencer,, and the various troopers. But I do agree that some stuff, like their trooper transports and speeders are ugly as Hell. Let's hope episode 9 takes more risks design wise.
@@playcebovision5319 agree
@@playcebovision5319 the supremacy is kinda ridiculous tbh. The M6 is literally just "bigger ATAT". The silencer is about the only truly unique and cool design to come out of the ST so far
@@TFedits85 Yeah it is pretty crazy, but tbh, so is the Death Star, and SSD. As for the AT-M6, sure, it looks like a bigger thing, but it's got better fire power, more stable, and immune to things like two cables.
Nice to see the Resurgent getting some love. Also people follow his advice and buy this book. It is gorgeous and really informative. Not just in giving one a better understanding of the production timeline, but also just the internal thoughts behind design choices.
8:26 "Jedi Killer Limo TIE" best name for a concept ship ever.
I actually own this book myself. I agree with you Eck on much of the art here. Looking forward for more episodes on this.
Really glad they went with the Resurgent. It might be my favorite overall capital ship.
0:45- [Thanos snap]”captain,I don’t feel good”
Nice video Eck, but what about The Droid Attack on the Wookies?
Already over, no droids left!
@@adenkyramud5005 See, Droids don't pull people's arms out of their sockets when they get angry, wookies have been known to do that
No, what about the Wookiee attack on the droids?
What about the droid and wookie attack of the pykes
What does a wookie capital ship look like?
They should have used some of these designs for the Dreadnought, which looked half fast. Love the Resurgence design and the Mega-Class design.
2:29 Those stormtrooper designs, especially the ones on the left, look awesome
0:44 so livings organisms were not the only thing affected by the infinity gauntlet.....
8:40 it's EC Henry's TIE design lol
XepherTim that’s what I thought just with two big engines
An uglier version...
Between that thing and EC Henry's design, I'd still choose his TIE Vector. The jet engines on the concept art TIE just look out of place.
@@philippobitz2592 Agreed. And his adjustable wing to landing gear design is really cool.
9:38 I'm a programmer and yet I turn to software like MS Paint and a free video editor
I always thought that the Interceptor or a spinoff thereof would be the logical next step in TIE design over the classic fighter. Add minor improvements like a shield and bam, competitive starfighter that emphasizes the right parts of the TIE line. Plus, it would still be playing it safe since the Interceptor was already an established design, but like the Resurgent, showing logical progress compared to the bloated, inefficient, and wasteful ways of the New Order. They played it too safe with the next-gen TIE. In any case, I'm glad the ol' Squint is making a comeback in some form courtesy of Resistance. The silencer is cool and all, but weird prototype one-offs never really interested me with regards to Imperial fighters, unless they led to a version produced with serial numbers
Side note: I always thought it would be a cool idea for the Imperial Remnant to upgrade old TIEs by literally just bolting on a version of the Interceptor "wings" without the weapons and, resources permitting, with the wingtip lasers, replacing the core components of the power system and upgrading the chin lasers. Bam, freshly refurbished, competitive starfighters for a fraction of the price of a new-build one. SLEPs don't get any easier than that...
The only reason they went with the TIE fighter instead of the TIE interceptor is because the TIE fighter was in all 3 movies and the tie interceptor was only 1 so they could milk more nostalgia out of it doesn't matter that doesn't make any sense because Star Wars is now run by Disney and Disney don't care about whether the series is good or make sense they only care about milking it for all the money they can thats why Star Wars sucks now
@@sammywhite5127 "Doesn't make sense" Have you actually looked at First Order ships? People said the same "They are just milking It for cash" bs when the Prequels came out and a good chunk of people like them today.
@@ufukcangencoglu2279 you see the difference is George Lucas made the prequels because he wanted to tell a story Disney is making the sequel trilogy purely to make money there is no story they're trying to tell it's just bullshit that they're pulling out of they're ass as they go along
@@sammywhite5127 Still, with that line of thinking you can say the same about the Prequels. They are just a cash milking scam with no story.
@@ufukcangencoglu2279 sorry dude but no that's not going to fly you can say what you want about the prequels but they definitely had a planned story from the beginning, you cannot say the same thing about the sequels, the two that they have made so far are literally diametrically opposed in the story they're trying to tell
I like the Brutal Angle SD, probably more than I should.
I like that they specifically went with more German, Wehrmacht-ish ideologies for the first order, while still modernizing the old empire's designs to fit a new era of star wars. They still have room to improve and add bigger ships to the first order's fleet as that's what the empire did in the older movies by the time episode 9 rolls around
i love all of your videos i wish there were more all i do when i have time is watch them. best star wars channel out there!
The Resurgent class design actually turned out pretty nice, one of only a couple FS designs I think are any good and are not Empire copy+paste.
The Mega-class has a terrible name but seems alright and Ren's fighter is decent too.
Keep up the great work Eck you're running a totally underrated channel...you know your SW.
I'm so glad you decided to cover The Art of The Force Awakens' early conceptual designs for the First Order ships! I find them to be pretty facanating, and I cannot wait to see more of them broken down in the next video!!! :)
6:25 I don't see this to be a empire or first order ship I see this being a republic ship that's my opinion
7:57
“Does it come in black?”-Bruce Wayne (2005)
Tutorials on how you make aspects of your videos (especially the soundwave spikes over your logo) would be awesome!
Love the concept art vids u doing.
These first order concept art ships are cool. Great video
1:59 They wanted more tentacles, but realized that such would not be believable for an imperial starship, so they went with the next best thing
Something original and unique in Star Wars? Lord Mickey will hear of your betrayal against the Disney Empire!
@Ī Shinron If only they knew the power of the Walt Side.
Eck I just want you to know you have me and my Sith Empires backing and gratitude great channel
#AskEck Do you think the Covenant Empire would stand a chance against the Yuuzhang Vong if they were to invade the Orion Arm, and do you think they would consider making a temporary truce with Humanity to defeat the Vong.
Ok, that concept art book has been in my amazon cart for far too long. Bout' to order it now. Another great vid. The tie SF is a bit underwhelming, but the new rear gunner turret is a solid addition and has to extend the life span of a fighter exponentially. Maybe they don't even call them "coffin jockeys" any more?
The negative space really is cool on these new designs, I never would have thought of that
Google for Lucrehulk Star Destroyer, you will find a 3D model of the red Star Destroyer but without the Death Star laser, making it more a mix between a Star Destroyer and the Lucrehulk Battleship
0:45 mrs Mothma, I don't feel so good
Awesome designs. Respect.
I came up with an idea of a 4 prong star destroyer. The space in between the prongs would fire a large laser, think a small scale death star or first order dreadnaught. It would use the weapon to destroy capital ships and planetside structures. The weapon would require so much power they could not use it with a lot of turbo lasers so it need to stay back and fire at long range, and rely on a fighter screen for protection.
im so happy you made this :^)
The Gladiator ship should be in Star Wars Resistance as the pirates home ship
Do a Yuuzhan Vong invasion of Fluidic Space and war against Species 8472! 79th try.
You should do a series where you just analyze concept art from various ip’s
This was a great vid.
I really like your music
2:29 Ok, the trooper on the far right is awesome, but maybe that’s just my love of cloaks, and angular armor.
You should make video on the pendulum wars in gears of war.
Star Destroyers are like the Cars of Star Wars, they keep on introducing new models overtime, and also love concept art, it unlocks another side to the Star Wars galaxy.
In 6:41 the ship reminds me on the Ardent Frigate
2:20 The two stormtroopers on the left look like some specialized clone troopers (a mix of airborne troopers and clone scout troopers to be precise) and the two on the right look either like New Sith Wars Sith Troopers (think of Dessel's (Darth Bane's) Gloom Walkers) or like much slimmer versions of those hazard troopers from Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
There is a "Design the perfect Star Destroyer" video??? BRB... _Whoooosh_
love this good job
The 2nd ship in the video is basically a Harrower-class dreadnought with a the bridge off an ISD-2.
You can make a video about the concept art for the first order ties fighters?
What I would have chosen for the standard First Order TIE Fighter is an almost standard-looking TIE Advanced X1, with a couple of notches removed from the front portion of the wings, in the same sort of way as the TIE Interceptor, and a cockpit a bit more in the shape of an Eta Actis, with more field of view.
And maybe standard fighters could consist like 20% of TIE Drones like the ones from Dark Empire, because I just love their design.
As for the Special Forces TIE Fighter, something a bit closer to what we actually got, mixed with TIE Advanced V1-style s-foils, and a view-screen hatch to again improve upward visibility. The special forces TIE is a bit unoriginal in its design, but I do love the way that the engines were moved to the sides to make room for a rear-gunner.
As for the TIE Silencer, I love the design.
Can you please do a video on what the rebels could have done to save the command ship in Star Wars Rebels
#AskEck would you ever feature ships from the expanse in a versus episode?
Here is a good video for you what faction has a better planet invasion force. The covent invasion of rech vs the 2nd invasion of genosis
Those stormtrooper concepts look sooo good! No idea why they didn't use it. They look so menacing
I'm just here for the beautiful theme you uses...🖒
I personally would like to see a first order version of the hedgemon class SD
I would’ve enjoyed the idea of more negative space, as it would somewhat suggest that resources are somewhat difficult to come by for the first order, due to having little to no preexisting infrastructure and diverting most of their resources to Star killer base. It would lead to structural weaknesses that could be exploited (focusing on the arms of the ship for instance) and show us that their ships aren’t all powerful. Maybe I’m just thinking too much into it though
The red star destroyer calls back to the Lucrehulk of the Trade Federation, perhaps there was originally meant to be some kind of link between the CIS and the First Order?
I hope we see some of these get reworked into canon. The death star hybrid destroyer looks amazing
If its look takes inspiration from, or looks kinda similar to, an executor super star destroyer, I will immediately like it
Cause man the way it’s shaped and the way the stern looks is so cool
What if the Mandalorians had a Star Destroyer class? I wonder what they’ll look like?
I think that Kandosi and Kyramaud are the ships you are looking for - btw, Fractalsponge made 3d model of Kandosi
I never got the concept of negative space in ships. You would think that space could be used better for crew quarters, armories, hangars, gun emplacements, etc.
Neat ships, I just don't like seeing holes designed in the ship.
The Resurgent Class is a cool design, but the fact that they settled on that as opposed to any of these is kinda sad, especially because the Resurgent is basically just the Imperial Star Destroyer but stretched out...
you should do a bit on all the YT series freighters
#askEck If you were a force sensitive philosopher in the star wars universe and were creating your own order of force practitioners what would be its characteristics aka philosophies, teaching methods, abilities you would focus on, perspective on the ight and dark side. etc
1:51 I think it's to give extra damage to the ship. Grapple a certain piece of the ship, and you could potentially blow it up.
Also less energy to use. Another Ed’s your weapons are more powerful. Those cables would have to be serious tensile strength.
The red Star Destroyer concept is my favorite
You should do didacts flagship vs death star
The image of the "Imperial Boarding Craft Exterior Wide sort if makes me think of a stretched blockade runner with a large stretch Falcon body mounted on it's underside. That ship would be cool as like some sort of large transport, where the Falcon shaped section would detach to land on a planet while the rest if the ship, containing the hyperspace engines and such remain in orbit over the planet, or latches onto another prepared Falcon shaped unit that had already obtained orbit and was awaiting being locked down and buddy jumped it it's destination.
As for the First Order ships in the last two movies, while I love the Resurgent's design, I sort of wish they had moved further from the standard star destroyer template, I mean yes, their ships were being built by many if the same companies, but at different facilities, and lets be honest, anyone docking at a space dock that is building capital ship sized vessels with the silhouette if the Resurgent is going to know instantly that these shipyard us making ships for the Empire/First Order (especially when the stations are tucked away out of the standard shipping lanes.
It's sort if like how in SW legends the tie fighters became deathtraps to many who found one, as most pilots would immediately open fire on them, thinking they worked for the empire. So it would seem that it would be much easier to supply the First Order with vast fleets if ships if they could be made without instantly alerting anyone within visual range who the ships were for. On the otherhand, if they were all made in the unknown region, one would expect some of the design from those regions the First Order controlled to seep into th new ship designs rather than retooling everything to make the empire's very specific silhouette.
Toward that end I like the udea if the ships you showed, was it yesterday, that had the star destroyer silhouette combined with that of Chiss ships. That would clearly show that these ships aren't from here, so to speak
eck hope everythings cool
Do best fan made mon calimari designs
3:18 lower left box, char destroyer custom, three times faster than a resurgent.
#AskEck are you done with the VS series?
Even if you are I'll request Chiss Ascendancy Star Destroyer VS Nebula Star Destroyer.
Do u think the Galactic Alliance (or Galactic Federation of Free Alliances) could be recanonized for after episode 9 in some way? also Love your videos.
6:17 You said you would link the art.
Right, I'll update the description. Here it is:

What about a super star destroyer like the unsc infinity where it drops star destroyers
Hi. on your SiFi Ship Breakdowns and Vs videos... I would like to see you look at the Macross SDF1 from the Amination movie.
There is a story in legend's about a crimelord with the same problem. He had newly acquired a shiny stardestroyer and wanted to personalize it.
It ended up being pink.
Well turn's out the only paint available in the quality to paint a stardestroyer is stardestroyer grey...
could you do a video on the errant venture star destroyer owned by booster terrik.
I wonder will you ever do a video about Spaceships in the Space Battleship Yamato 2199/2202 universe. The ship designs appear really interesting personally like the Earth Federation Andromeda class and Dreadnought class battleships and the unusual Dimensional Space Submarine of the Garmillas Empire.
I know that is not your area of operations, i just want to see someone cover the really good yet unnoticed SBY universe
That brutal angles star destroyer would have made a great carrier
Personally they should use these star destroyer and tie fighter concept designs so we could see more new ships for the First Order including that badass storm trooper concept armor design!
#AskEck which imperial fleet composition do you prefer? Legends Or Canon? I personally like the more specialized and flexible lineup of corvettes, light cruisers and carriers that we've accompanying star destroyers in canon. You've never really mentioned them in videos before but I'd be interested to hear your opinion on it. Keep up the great content!
What specialised inflexible lineup are you talking about? The only imperial ships we've seen in canon are the gozanti (which they only have because Rebels was lazy and reused Clone Wars assets), acquaitens (again Rebels reusing Clone Wars assets), interdicted (which were already used in the original Canon), quasars (which I refused to except as an imperial ship those are fucking bulk freighters) the only ones of those that even makes any kind of sense in the imperial fleet is the acquaitens and the interdictor, I'll take Legends imperial fleet any day
Any idea where can i download the one at 6:35 ? My google voodoo is not working. Ryan Church OCT 2013 and other keywords are not giving me anything.
Star Wars was some beautiful concepts arts
*THE GRAPE HAD SURGERY*

0:44 admiral ackbar,we don fell so good
#AskEck Who would win in a space battle: a Victory I class star destroyer or a Harrower class dreadnought?
#AskEck
What kinds of First Order ships are you hoping to see more of in the future? More capital ship types or something like the First Order equivalent of a Victory class?
This will be a great addition to new prequels remake
I really just watch for the dog.
#AskEck What are your thoughts on the designs and capabilities of the ships of the Zann Consortium from Star Wars: Empire at War, and could they be any sort of threat to any faction of the Star Wars cannon and legends universes?
For smaller ships - definitely can be threat, for larger - considering fact that mainstay "frigate" is just freighter with heavier guns and missile launcher - I don't think so. Mass drivers are considered obsolete in ship to ship warfare, shielding against (mostly) energy projectiles (Turbolasers technically are not lasers) is nobrainer for warships, while cloaking devices, guns similar to ones on Malevolence and other prototype stuff are just expensive and not reliable
Best mainline mechs:
UN Spacey( SDF Macross)
Earth Federation( UC Gundam)
The Clans( Battletech)
Terran Dominion( StarCraft).
Attempt #2
#askeck how would you design your ideal space fighter? you can either mashup/redesign existing star wars or other sci-fi movies fighters or make one of your own
you know what would be cool lucrehulk class battleship with 1 more lucrehulk added to the ship at 90 degree angle
How would it be if a new Star Wars series was launched titled Star Wars IO, which acted as a different point in a Star Wars Multiverse, incorporating Canon, Legends, & Fanon?
IO would officially stand for Imperial Officer for the first installment, but would of course be an in-cheek version of saying If Only.
