  • @patrickgregory-googleadtip387

maybe keeping the eyes on the adams apple is why many DBs give up so many big plays in NFl see every week. Its too close to looking into the eyes of the WR. In my opinion you are always safe keeping the eyes at hip level. The hips are the center of the body. And a DB who can't stay low enough to get hip level in man coverage needs more endurance work in his off season training. Teaching to look at the chin is asking to be beat off the line the majority of the time, too close to looking into the helmet and eyes of Wide Receiver, good WRs know that all they have to do is give a head fake with a DB looking high and they will win the battle 99% of the time. That 1% are the ones who are reading the hips and reacting accordingly. That's why every week you have tons of pass interference calls because DBs are looking high, getting beat and causing them to hold and grab. Really though its not the fundamentals entirely that make a great DB, its being a student of the game. That's what makes a great DB.
