In this video I’m sharing my favorite little workhouse machine (SPOILER ALERT - it’s the Singer HD4411). Now, this is NOT going to replace an industrial walking foot machine. BUT - it has allowed me to make some pretty amazing backpacks, wallets and bags using hefty materials. And I’ve not broken a needle yet!
I’m going to walk you through the basic straight stitch, upper and bobbin threading and then stitching on many layers of some of the toughest materials in bag making. I’ll also show you my trick for stitching easily through sticky, stretchy vinyl.

Using the walking foot or a Teflon foot will stop you from having to use machine oil. Thank you for the video. People love to trash talk singer online but I have several singers & one is old & still running strong. They all are but one of them is an older model heavy duty like yours & it’s been around for yrs plus yrs longer cause my uncle didn’t buy it new. They’re wonderful machines.

Hi Krystal. Thanks for confirming that I made a great investment purchasing my Singer Heavy Duty 2252 four years ago. I don't even use my other machines anymore because I sew mostly thicker fabrics. Great tutorial as a refresher! ❤

Thank you for your honest review. I'm looking in to a heavier duty domestic for my nine year old to start making bags with (her current machine definitely can't do vinyl). This is going to be perfect for her.

Omg that prince fabric is everything!!!

Thanks, Krystal. I have a Singer 4452 that I’ve used for bags for about two years and have been pleasantly surprised with its performance. Do you ever sew leather with your 4411? How’d it go?

Thank you so much for doing this video, I had a problem with my Brother sewing machine at the end of an H2O2 GO I was sewing for a customer and I had to take it to the shop, I don't have the budget to buy an expensive second machine, then I remember seeing your video some time ago in the Lind's group, so I came to look for it, and it's saving my day! off I go to purchase my Singer HD4411 to be able to finish my project. I subscribed to your channel, you have great tips, thank you!

I appreciate you so much! I always come away from other channels (even great ones) feeling like I need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to be table to do this hobby. I'm planning to get an Arbor Press soon :-).

Another great vid. Thanks. I've been leaning towards the Brother ST HD - it's about $275ish, give or take 20 bucks. TocksCustom did a review of it and it sewed thru several layers of leather! Problem I'm having is the machine's head -- right above needle -- is so large it not only reduces a clear view but makes stitching in smaller areas very challenging. How do you get around this? My current bag maker is a Janome6500P. Strong but a low shank and space and viewing difficulties as mentioned above. Thanks for any insight or suggestions you might have. Love your channel! What an absolute Breath of Fresh Air!

Thanks for this video! Let's talk thread weight real quick. I'm presuming you stick with something like Tex 30 or 45? Like an all purpose thread. I have a Brother domestic that I use Mara 100 in. What would you say is the heaviest weight you can use in this machine? Thanks again!

Good Morning, thank you a great video. I have the singer 44S and it sews everything, from several layers of vinyl to cotton. I have made the Moonwake on it with thick and thin vinyl, the family travel organiser and lots more, I have had no problem with it, it is a workhorse.

Excellent video! Yes, this machine does gets shamed frequently. You're video is helpful and encouraging for those of us with budgeting priorities. I've been using it for over a year now primarily for bag making and have had excellent results. Thanks for this review and demonstration.
