Hello everyone! In this video, I'm going to teach you the card trick that fooled Penn and Teller on their show Fool Us. Unfortunately, the original performance has been taken off CZcams, however, I recorded this video a while ago when it was still up.
In the actual performance, the magician uses a different technique to the one shown here, however, my performance will allow you to perform the exact same effect. This trick uses a gimmicked card known as a double backer. You will need to 'out-jog' the card for this card trick to work. This move will require some practise; however, once you have got it down, this effect can go straight into your magic arsenal.

The key is simple. Make it simple because they are so good at spotting a fake.

@@ethanweeter2732 Incorrect. Actually it is overcomplicated for the purpose of fooling a magician. It could more easily be done simply with a marked deck, using any card but that is what Penn and teller or any magician would expect. At least then though, spectator could examine the deck after. With the method in this video, they can't. All p&t had to do was ask to see the deck. You could cop the double card but that would defeat the trick being 'simple' and also there would need to be a duplicate ace in there.

What a great card trick. I just started getting into magic 2 months ago. Been addicted these past 2 months and have over 100 tricks down now. Beautiful! I knew glue was involved. But that wasn't the trick. LITERALLY! The trick is the lateral slide that gets palmed. If you thought gluing two cards together was the trick you got fooled just like me. Again beautiful! Because even when I see how it's done I still admire it. None of the magic is lost. Hence beautiful!

It's not that it fooled them, they just assumed it was a marked deck and that was their guess. Whoever made this truck, they overcomplicated it for the sole purpose of "fooling" them. It's like pretending to do a double lift but instead you do something else.

Your double-backed card is actually a double-faced card (or double-facer). A double-backed card shows the back design on each side.
