*7 diamonds goes between the 6 and 8 sorry! Turns out I cant count 😂
This isn’t your effect to teach?
Brilliant! Knowing how it's done makes it even mo0re impressive that Shawn pulled off such a bold trick right under Penn's nose!
Ty for the reveal some set up but worth it plus you can still use the gimmicks for a thought of card to the box from being placed in the deck so reusable nice
I'm always impressed when the inventor of a trick shares it so freely, especially when the trick fooled so many and could have been sold for a tidy sum.
The person who made this video did NOT invent the trick. And Shawn does not sell it. And this video is only a guess at how it was done.
Fantastic! Thanks!
That’s awesome! Thank you!
Nice job, Steve. Thanks. You are EXCELLENT.
I really like Shawn. He is a FANTASTIC magician. I havent heard much about him lately. I hope he is well.
Keep shakin', Steve.
Yes, he's fine. Travel around the world and do magic. Last time he complained on Air Canada and said they have bern a very bad company lately.
@liselottefrejdig1112 Hello, thank you for your reply and info .
A lot of standards are not as strong these days among companies.
But that is still terrible to hear about .
Stay safe and well.
He has a magic threatre in New Westminster BC. Does several shows a week and is sold out most nights. The threatre is called Hidden Wonders.
Hey Rob, Thanks for your reply. I'M glad to hear he is doing great. I knew about his awesome magic theater.
He is excellent and deserves every fan.
I hadnt seen him on youtube or anywhere, but he is a busy guy, and he doesnt sleep, lol.
Thanks again, Rob.
I hope you and your family are doing great. Be safe and well. @@RobEvanstheMysticBovine
Great work. Great work! 💥👍
I really like the magnet and gimmick card 👍
A very very step by step in-depth tutorial and build and gimmicked edge down load what more can anyone want but to say a big thank you for sharing and teaching how to build with great results
Beautiful
Thanks for this tutorial steve ❤
Omg I guessed 2/3rds! The force, the flap at the bottom, using glue. But the second deck switch is the genius part. That’s besides the top tier sleight of hand and performance from Shawn
Well done!
@@Steventaputoro Thanks man, I appreciate the community you are building, cheers
Yeah I was going to say you put the flap at the wrong spot. Good catch!
Nice explanation, but you don't want to bend the bottom flap behind the 8 of diamonds (as you say in your video) because that will cause you to slide the forced 7 of diamonds to go between the 8 and 9 instead of the 6 and 8. You want to fold the flap in front of the 8 (so it's below the 8 and above the 6.) You should have up jogged the 6 of diamonds (instead of the 8) and folded the flap behind the 6. Thanks for the detailed video!
You are correct: I’ll pin a comment. Cheers!
I was able to cipher that trick 4 years ago and recreated exactly like your demo ! it is a masterpiece
Amazing video. But do you have a totourial (or could you make one) for a deck switch that can be used in a normal pefromrnce without the use of a sharpie, table, lap or coat? One that I can use standing up
Whoa!
I was wondering about this trick. Thank you for this explanation.
Question: Why do you keep saying "between the 9 and the 8" for where the 7 goes?
Sorry I cant count 😂
You gotta have a lot of balls to do a deck switch in front of Pen and Teller and they would be looking for that when you reach in for the Pen. But it is amazing how people focus on what they’re supposed to focus on or not what they could have focussed on, which would’ve been him pulling that deck of cards out of his pocket
Excellant tutorial. Very impressive.
I have used this idea for years now, BUT, without the gimmick or deck switch. These two subtleies make all the difference.
Unfortunately for me, i had never thought of this.
My performance was simply to have the force card already in the prepped deck and have this deck in plain sight all the time (card was not signed). Palm out the forced card, hand out the deck to show card is gone, then have spectator open sealed deck to find their card inside.
Much more convincing with this method.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Neat
Thats awesome 👌🏼
Awesome. ❤
Nice
strange as i was watching this episode online earlier today, bizarre not even on youtube so freaky how this video came up
brilliant!
Is this different from the extractor or its sequel by Alakazam?
Smilesotheylikeyou
Not the same in the slightest. Totally different.
so this trick only works with the 7 of diamonds?
Lolol
Did you figure this all out by yourself? Because if so then you are a genius.
There is always more than one method to achieve the same effect. I don't know if you have figured out Shawn's but your method works for you. Kudos.
B.T.W. missing link to download your file. Definitely "Like"'d and already subscribed.
Thanks for the heads up! Link added :)
Steve, that is brilliant thinking. This is an excellent way the trick went down. 👏👍💪💪👍👏😊🥃🥃
This has to be the only way it's done
@@gangsterghost6943 Ya, OK.
I feel like I'm too stupid when I couldn't follow what the spectator was supposed to think in the original trick. I do understand that you pull back and forth deck switches, but somehow the missing advertising cards that are with another pack that is not in play are supposed to prove that the pack you pulled that isn't perfect was in fact untouched. Somehow the deck switches shown just make me more confused about what you were supposed to believe.
For a regular audience you would only do one deck switch. You switch the real brand new box of cards with the gimmicked box, allowing you to slide their signed card in and seal it up. The trick would end when you reveal that their signed card is miraculously inside a “sealed” box of cards. The audience would never know that you used the gimmicked box with the flap.
Penn and Teller though, are not a normal audience. They are likely to want to inspect your cards/props after the trick. The second switch was to get rid of the gimmick box, so he could hand over the perfectly normal box to Penn for him to take back to his chair and examine. He used the advertising cards being in his pocket as an excuse to go back into his pocket and disguise that second switch.
Penn and teller saw him do the first switch from real box to gimmick box, they didn’t catch the second one where he switched them back.
As a result, they had no idea about the gimmicked box and had no chance to inspect it because he’d taken it out of play right under their noses.
So they knew he’d switched decks during the trick, but because of the second switch, they could not figure out how that would allow him to put a signed card into a sealed box.
4:25 Actually, you can also see the red side of the box flashing through his fingers. But that's too far for Teller as audience and Penn can't see it either.
Where does he ditch the gimmick
WOW 😮
Freaking brilliant!!!!
You didn't answer how he got the 7 diamonds back in the new deck order next to the eight diamonds.
Rewatch it. I explain it clearly during making the gimmick.
agreed - I was lost from the first step...
How does Shawn forced a card from a thoroughly mixed deck. He doesn't even flip the cards over to locate where the 7 of diamonds is.
He's a world champion at close up magic
I think, there's a method to palm the to-be-forced card until the selection process starts. As the cards are face-down, he can just let it slip in at every moment.
no, this was edited out... see my response above...
you forgot to share how he locate the 7 of diamonds after the shuffle
Cyril takayama done this tricks 10 years ago
I have seen Shawn do this a number of times live and on TV and it fools me every time. I never would have thought this is how it is done.
There was no second deck switch.
I don’t understand how this fooled Teller. I get that Penn was distracted signing the card but it was so obvious it was deck switch to a gimmick deck. And was even more blatant that this “brand new” deck didn’t have advertising cards in them.
What blows my mind is how he did such a simple, elementary force on Penn Jillette
I'm pretty sure, he did another method to force the card.
Your style can be easily seen. I dont think that's the style did to penn and teller
The only part I don't get is how he forced the seven after Penn shuffled the deck 4 times, cut it and gave it back without him seeing the bottom card for control.
Tv editing.
I believe he did flip it over, just spread the card out to find the 7 and then put in a point break, flip it over and perform the force. The tv edit probably cut that part out though
Oh, I see.
*pinky break
And Penn had his eyes shut during that process? He see and commented on the deck switch and likely would have said, “you had to have used ‘The Force’ to get me to pick that exact card.
I don’t think this is correct. Because if he pushing that card into the deck, how does he know exactly where the 6 and 8 of diamonds are?
Also, he didn’t do a force. He told him to touch a card and pull it out. After Penn shuffled them.
You should watch the tutorial :)
So you’re saying that Penn somehow missed him looking through the deck and was victim of a classic force?
@@CaptainVideo1960 He didn't have to look at the deck. He manipulated the card where he wanted it to be.
So the whole trick relied on a classic force to a magician? Lay people are way easier to fool with a classic force. Had penn thumbed one card further the trick would be ruined. I don’t think Shawn would rely on that, or at least had another out
Also penn shuffled right before. Do you think he had the 7 palmed?
wow after so many years , finally i got the answer 🤗
This proved to me that "Fool Us" was a sham.
The trick was available in magic stores years before he performed it on the show.
I saw it performed by an amateurish magician working behind the counter at one of the Olde Towne Magic Shops in Orlando, Florida.
Get extractor from Alakazam.
Tommy Wonder would be proud of you!
Good explanation, but he didn't force the 7 of diamonds. Also, Penn checked very good the bottom of the box. If only the corners of the plastic wrap were glued, he would have definatly noticed it.
It was forced 100%. You can see him force it in other videos. If you watch my tutorial you see he switched the boxes aswell
@@Steventaputoro Not in the Penn and Teller FU episode tho. Penn shuffeld the deck and Shawn didn't look at the cards. But anyway, this is still the best explanation I've found yet. Kudos
@@amFortunate Unfortunately, they edited this out - Shawn flipped and spread the cards then probably said something like, "let's see if they're all mixed", quickly located the 7 of clubs, and put it in position for the force.
@@billnollit’s probably more likely Shawn used a locator card so he could get a brake without going through the deck. Likely either a breather or a short card.
I saw this just some hours ago. So I haven't talked with him about that yet.
First one who did this was Cyril 10+ years ago
Versions of the signed card in sealed deck have been in print since at least the mid 1950’s
This is one way to do the trick, but not the method. Watch the video of fool us
There is a flaw in your explanation. Personally I feel like there has to be a force and I do something similar. However unless they cut out the part where Shawn looked at the deck to located the 7 of diamonds, it seems as though he takes the deck back and has penn immediately touch a card. However I think Penn would have noticed him catching a glimpse and certainly would know he was classic forced. If he knows it was a force, then he and Teller should have come up with some idea how he got it in the deck
A what switch? Good video, otherwise.
Newsflash. The rest of the world have different accents.
Don't like tricks being revealed not nice fella that's someone's living
I thought Reacher was a sniper!!!
Thank you but your explanation is Overkill with multiple times showing it over and over. Your explanation Said nor Showed anything about How it was done with a cellophane sealed deck.
Ah yeah it does…
Revealing a trick as good as this one (that too a marketed item) to the layman on CZcams is not good for the artform ... It just kills the "magic" out of the performance. Just to gain some subscribers you're ruining the artform. Did you take any permission from Shawn to share HIS trick out open in CZcams ? Bruh create your own trick if you think you're too genius ! And then reveal and teach on CZcams. I don't know what's wrong with people like you on CZcams revealing marketed tricks without permission!!!!
I have never seen advertising cards inside a deck ever
You need to open the box.
Where are you located? North American bicycle decks contain two advertising cards and two jokers.
You know what magicians do to magicians who tell?? ☠️
I bet Shawn Farquhar wouldn't reveal one of your tricks. What is it with CZcams magicians? If you want to reveal one of your own tricks that's fine. Your ruining magic. To cap it all your audio is rubbish.
It’s a card trick. Enjoy life 😂
@@Steventaputoro it may be just a card trick to you it is their livelihood
