    -------------------
    The absence of stillness can unveil a lack of confidence and power. Thomas Shelby is the irrefutable paragon of a man embodying stillness in motion
    Tommy's projection of strength through non-reactivity tips the scales of perceived dominance.
    In the presence of adversaries, Tommy’s behavior is so effortless that he’s virtually non-reactive. Whilst his movements are deliberate, his slowed cadence creates the illusion of apathy. His apathetic movement, unblemished by his circumstances, signals clear control over his physical and emotional self.
    In this video, we explore the elixir of Tommy's:
    1️⃣ Abstract Intelligence;
    2️⃣ Emotional Detachment;
    3️⃣ Enterprise-Driven Relationships; and
    4️⃣ Relentless Ambition to Ascend,
    and how this is poured into the vessel of man that:
    5️⃣ Considers Himself Already Dead
    which provides the potent fuel to Tommy’s non-reactivity.

    Thomas Shelby exhibits one of my favorite traits to see in a character as well as one of the most powerful things I think you can see in other people which is that he is always reserved in his composure so when he raises his voice or becomes more aggressive or physical it’s terrifying. When you become so accustomed to someone being emotionally in control it’s even scarier to see them let go momentarily. In the case of Peaky Blinders it’s what imo makes Thomas way scarier than Arthur when he’s fighting someone.

      The only time he showed his vulnerability to someone who was not a family member was with Tatiana. She read him like a book and exposed his weaknesses. She pushed him out of his comfort zone of “non-reactivity”. Even when he talked to his wives ( Grace at the wedding about feeling scared ) and Lizzie ( after the Ballet recital they hosted in the presence of Mosely ) when he talked to his wives he still remained relatively calm and in control as if he had to do so as a protector of the family and show them
      That they are safe despite the dangers looming over their family . Tommy had been bottling everything up inside and Tatiana allowed Tommy to show a different side of himself ,be emotionally unguarded and be the one who should be comforted for a change . Despite his suicidal ideations he realized that he did in fact want to live , he shut down her unpredictability by being hyper reactive .

    Peaky Blinders is by far one of the best written shows i have seen in a long time. It's not only Thomas Shelby, the other characters also really well designed and interesting too. They have their traits, they have their limits and with the conditions their limits change.
    My favorite is actually Arthur. He is not as dumb as one might think, but his impulsivness and dreams hold him back. Also while he is not able to build a bigger picture like Tommy can, he gets what Tommy is after provided he has the information and does a lot of what needs to be done. I have been waiting for a new video to drop I absolutely love your videos, Tommy Shelby is one of my favourite characters and Peaky Blinders is one of my favourite show, Tommy is truly a unique person even tho he’s scared he keeps smiling and he can do anything by himself and not be scared witch I like about him. Even tho he is a character he inspires me every day about not caring about what others think and don’t show his emotions to anyone. I loved this video and can’t wait for the next one to be published!

      Thanks appreciate the kind words! Yes, he’s definitely on the list! He’s a great example of coming across aloof and indifferent. I’m trying to cover as many different attributes first before I come back and revisit similar traits i.e. silence etc. Thanks for the suggestion. Yep have used a few shots as love the cinematography.

    • @QuietlyMagnetic
      @QuietlyMagnetic  Před 2 lety +1

      Interesting observation. I would add that he is also a family man and isn’t entirely driven by his own needs unlike Little Finger. Whether it’s his family or some other cause. His desire to stop Oswald and rise of fascism is an excellent example of something beyond himself and his own needs.

      @@QuietlyMagnetic I think the show has multiple meanings for different audiences. From a combat veterans perspective I can relate to Tommy feeling completely helpless and knowing death is a foot away, I disarmed IED's. Once you've been in that position you have two options, cave to depression and wallow in it until you die OR you fight to insure you're never going to be in that position of helplessness again, at all costs.

    • @QuietlyMagnetic
      @QuietlyMagnetic  Před 2 lety +2

      wow, that's impressive and terrifying. I'm sure your experiences of disarming IEDs can only be felt by those who have been in such similar life or death situations. I can only imagine the level of fight within the spirit required to not let the natural flight tendencies take over. Thanks for sharing your insight based on experience.

    Being calm under pressure is only built and chiseled by a person who underwent the same scenario over and over; learnt, developed & made changes to that situation. He/She realises that the pressure is not a big deal, because they witnessed, observed & realised from experience it wasn’t.

    • @QuietlyMagnetic
