    I have a G9 which came with a Leica 12-60mm f2.8-4.0 and I was planning to add a G95 (for unlimited video record time and the built-in flash), but in US the G95 comes with the Lumix 12-60mm f3.5-5.6 and I sure don't need another 12-60mm, so I ordered a GH5 body that came with a bunch of useful free stuff (so only about $100 more than the cost of the G95) and I will buy a used 14-140mm. I worked in a university where we had Panasonic AG-AF100 video cameras with 14-140 lens, which was very useful in the studio as well as outdoors. When you consider how many Panasonic cameras the 14-140 can be used with it seems like a great choice, especially if it is your only lens.
    Good review and fun to see your movie clips. 👍

    I use this lens with my GH5S and latest firmware. Only the autofocus can hunt. I use 225 area on a gimbal. Will I have better autofocus with the olympus 17mm F1.2 or sigma F1.4 16mm? Oherwise I love the GH5S for the great low light.

    HI Josh, thanks for the review. I have a question about the lenses I probably should have for my current Panasonic G7 and GH5 in future. Now I have only lumix 12-35 mm, but I want to sell it and to buy 7-14 mm for vlogs and 14-140 mm for filming different objects, architecture, streets etc. Could you tell me whether it's good decision or not or could you recommend me better stuff? Honestly, I don't want to have more than 2 lenses that's why I'm thinking about those two. Thanks in advance!

      Yes it does. And yes it’s a great camera for photos. The images look sharp. I’d say it does video a little better but can definitely take some good photos on it

    • @JoshChappell
      @JoshChappell  Před 6 lety

      It should work. I would call support at Panasonic if something is not working right.

    Amazing video man! I have a question, please answer.
    I'm about to buy the G85 and it comes with 12-60 f/3-5.5.6 or 14-140 f/3.5-5.6 kit lenses. (14-140 and 12-60 are kit lenses and i can choose one of them)
    What should I buy:
    1. Panasonic 12-60 f/3.5-5.6 and Olympus 40-150 f/4-5.6
    2. Just Panasonic 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6
    (i'm getting prime 25mm f/1.7 in both cases). I do video the most. I heard that Oly 45-150 suffers from a lot of chromatic abberation, whilst 14-140 supposedly has micro jittering issues. Also, 12-60 isn't as sharp as 14-140mm is, but Olympus 40-150 is sharper than 14-140mm at the higger end (100-140mm).

    • @JoshChappell
      @JoshChappell  Před 5 lety

      Get the Panasonic 14-140mm. It will give you a higher range. With hardly any abboration.

      @@JoshChappell Got it. There's also an option of buying Panasonic 45-150mm, as opposed to M.Zuiko Olympus 40-150. How does that sound with 12-60?

    I don't understand the "140mm mean that it is a 280mm". Is that mean that the 140mm on my M43 will show as a 280mm ?

    • @krisdodd2937
      @krisdodd2937 Před 4 lety +1

      Thomas Delattre yes it will

    • @DerVagabundli
      @DerVagabundli Před 4 lety +2

      It gives you the same field of view as a 280mm lens would give you on full frame. It´s due to the smaller sensor and the resulting crop factor. Full frame, or 35mm sensors are always used as the frame of reference, as they are regarded standard.

    • @JoshChappell
      @JoshChappell  Před 6 lety

      It is not a fixed apeture so yes

    •  Před 6 lety +1

      I have the same one. It goes darker while you zoom in (f3.5 - f5.6). If you want to avoid this, go for a lens with a fixed "f" number.

    I heard zoom lens are sharper then prime if you zoom into the middle of the zoom lens. For example let's say you have a zoom lens 100mm-200mm if you set it at 150mm that's the sharpest you can get even a prime. I never tested this but Matt Granger Matt Granger interviewed a rep from Carl Zeiss and that's what the rep said. And Carl Zeiss is one of the best lens makers in the world. Here is the video.

      Your comment is so interesting. Back in 2017 when I made this, it was considered really great quality. So many new cameras have come out now that are better than the gh5. Just shows you how fast cameras are advancing.
