I am a big fan of bluey and with season 3 airing in Australia, I thought I would do a breakdown of every episode with a small review, some spoilers, and any bluey theories that might pop up. Bluey season 1 and 2 hit disney plus two months after airing in Australia so hopefully, all of season 3 will be out for everyone soon!

I know exactly why all of these are censored. Even though the show is made for everyone, Disney really only advertise it to kids under the age of five, and we’re typically A lot more sensitive about content for young children in America, thus even minor things like the word crazy were cut. I still don’t think they should’ve cut everything they did though.

Alex Hirsch, creator of the Disney show Gravity Falls, has been very open about the ridiculousness of Disney's censors. He even released a video showcasing real emails between him and Disney's Standards and Practices department, showcasing how puritanical they are. This included things like changing a background character's t-shirt that originally said "chub pup" because they thought it was referring to a male body part when it was very obviously referring to a fat dog, they wanted to change the name of the chuck e cheese style restaurant "Hoo-Ha Owl's Jamboree" because, as they put it, ""hoo-ha' is slang for v*gina" (which Alex Hirsch pointed out was clearly not the definition of the word in the context it was used), as well as the infamous "not S&P approved" story. For those unfamiliar, a flyer for a party in the halloween episode which would be onscreen for less than 1 second was originally going to say "bottles will be spun," but the S&P department absolutely refused to have that because they didn't want to imply that it was a "make out party." Alex Hirsch pointed out that they were being ridiculous, but S&P refused to budge, so he told them to change it to the phrase "not S&P approved." S&P was reluctantly let it slide. All this of course is absolutely ridiculous, especially when you consider that they allowed a scene where a bunch of taxidermied animal heads bled from their eyes whilst demonically chanting "ancient sins." What's even more ridiculous is that the S&P department is a bunch of hypocrits, because they allowed a DIFFERENT cartoon to have a spin the bottle scene that went on for over a minute.
TL;DR: Disney will not allow things like lgbt+ rep or a flyer onscreen for less than a second to say "spin the bottle," but they WILL allow blood, body horror, demons, ghosts, and an entire minute long game of spin the bottle instead.

Let's see...I think their reason for the edit in Mini Bluey is because she says Bingo "looks" crazy. They call people crazy and nuts all the time, even in the season 3 episode Housework, but the fact that Bluey is basing it on appearance must be what Disney got nervous about.
I really hate that we won't be getting Family Meeting on Disney plus. It's a hilarious episode, and it's not like they haven't had farts on the show before.
What upsets me the most is the edit in Perfect. It ruins the over arching story of Bandit and Chilli's family planning. It also reveals some upsetting trends in American television and especially cartoons.
The discussion Bandit and Fido are having is the kind of thing they USED to put in cartoons all the time. Something that would go right over the heads of younger viewers but adults would pick up on. It's like we're taking steps backwards in this country when it comes to writing in cartoons.
The line about Bandit wanting to bite someone reveals an even worse American attitude. That violence is more acceptable in media than sex. The fact that they would rather refer to Bandit committing a violent act in a way that kids would understand than include an over the head reference to baby making just shows the backwards attitudes we Americans suffer from.

They probably censored the word "crazy" because they think it targets neurodivergent people as a source of mockery. Same reason we've kinda started to push towards phasing out insults like "lame" "spaz" and, well, the r-word that our generation tossed around with no real intended malice as kids, not realizing that we were being pretty insensitive to non-walking people, people with cerebral palsy or tourettes, and people with learning disabilities.
Perhaps Disney's being oversensitive, but also, if any of my friends with, for example, highly autistic children were uncomfortable with "crazy" being used that way, I doubt I'd fault 'em for it... you know?

As a nurodivergent, the term nuro and divergent itself is more offensive in and of itself. It promotes this globalistic thought that I’m somehow “incapable” of learning intent of a word, sarcasm, general word use, and basic life skills of ignoring things.

(Before I could read, I was like that one anime character staring at the milk carton while pretending to read- except I was staring at a thesaurus and fooled everyone.)

I'll give my thoughts on each change as well!
Mini-Bluey: Weird change for sure. However, I will say it makes the reveal of "Crazy Bingo" more surprising for the audience.
Housework: Alternatively, you could change it to "My leg!" since it looks like Bandit is grabbing his leg. Plus make it a SpongeBob reference.
Born Yesterday: This one is on the same level as them editing the horse poop. Doesn't really bother me personally. I'll also say that the Simpsons is targeted at an older audience, and while yes Bluey is made to be a family show Disney markets it towards a younger audience in the US so there's that factor for some of these edits.
Face Talk: So I actually think it's Bandit's reaction as to why the change was made. It might be seen as questionable for a married man to see another woman on the toilet. At the very least the audio is still there so it's easy to pick up what's implied despite the edit.
Driving: This edit is noticeable, but in my experience cats are more known to scratch up curtains than pee on them here in America. Garfield definitely had a role in making cats scratching curtains a part of pop culture.
Pass the Parcel: same poop removal, so not surprising, and again it doesn't affect the story so it's not an issue to me at least.
Explorers: Agree that this change clarifies to an international audience what these workers are. Kinda like them changing capsuims to peppers in "BBQ."
Perfect: Oh boy, the dog teeth thing. I actually think this edit is pretty funny, if not moreso if you know the original line. It's ridiculous for sure, but I get the feeling that Ludo Studios intentionally made the edit as absurd as possible to poke fun at the fact that they had to change it (I've seen other shows do similar jabs at censored lines before).
Family Meeting: So about farting, I think that Disney is more okay with that kind of humor if they are the ones that put it in. I know a lot of import shows are more subject to international edits due to standards and practices, and that in-house productions can sometimes get away with more than these imported shows. I think back to a lot of the "Americanized" anime dubs in the 2000s produced by 4Kids as an example of getting more edits than fellow shows on the network that were produced in America.
It's an unfortunate thing that these edits happened, but luckily there are many ways to find the "uncensored" versions and legally support the show and Ludo Studios. I hope that I didn't just ramble too much about this!

as a mother who's little one who LOVES Bluey, all of the edits they have done really upsets me. There are so many lessons children learn and don't get to learn because of the edits. With the edit about the dog's teeth, that could bring on questions from children about if that's actually true about dogs, why Bandit would say that if it's not okay to bite, and so on. Why get rid of a plot line about family planning and contraception and replace it with one about grown adults feeling the need to bite people??? I feel like, if kids caught the interaction at ALL, that's a worse idea to put in children's heads...

One thing that drives me CRAZY about the retail store Target and Bluey. I am not sure if this happens in Australia's Target but here in the US all Bluey related clothing is only in the boys section. My little girl loves Bluey! But i will never find a Bluey sweater or Top in the girls section. I already know to go to the boys section and they will all be located there. Like Bluey says "I'm a Girl". Not like i have a problem with them having Bluey in the boy section, I just think they should have it in the girl section too.

There is one more change no one noticed. In “Hotel”, when Bluey goes to console Bingo after hurting her feelings. Bingo asks if she can be the crazy pillow. In the Disney plus version, Bluey says “Okay” and the scene cuts to Bluey bringing bingo to bandit. However, in the original version, Bluey says “Okay” and Bingo stands up and says “YEAH! CRAZY PILLOW”. Idk why they cut that out. My guess is because they wouldn’t want the kids standing on the bed. Also 8:34 YoU tElL hIm GiRl

Bluey toilet humor definitely isn't the backbone of the show's humor, but I still love it because it really reminds me of my niece when she was Bluey and Bingo's age, she loved making fart noises and thought it was hilarious, and there was this time when she got a toy kitchen set that came with a toy potato and she insisted it was a poop and would leave it around the house, waiting for someone to notice it and exclaim "Who left a poop on the (table, sofa, etc)?!"
She would lose her mind laughing.

I always like how they're people but dogs. So they'll give each other names a human might give a dog like "chili" but they're also bipedal, drive and do human stuff. And here we would have learned some dogs in the blueyverse get neutered intentionally.
Definitely not talking about a vasectomy since they're reversible, so it wouldn't be an issue if Bandit did it, he could just get it undone if Chili wanted more pups. Plus "he even got to keep them"
I would have liked to see Bluey tackle the conversation of Chili wanting more kids and Bandit not. Maybe Bingo would want a younger sibling while Bluey would side with Bandit, Dividing the family for a bit. Bluey handles mature topics (like infertility) exceptionally well.

if it was the word groin in the episode "housework" they could've gone with Bandit saying something like: "Ow my leg!" Because I never saw that interaction being an american without a vpn who is watching through Disney plus, that was my first interaction with that scene. I thought it was kinda cute because my step-dad and mom do friendly teasing like that all the time, heck my boss and her husband do the same thing. I see interactions like that, not as being mean or toxic, but as them being natural and doing normal teasing jesters that everyone does.
also another kicked in the groin joke can be seen in Veranda Santa, when Muffin is jumping off the couch/chair(?) (I've seen that episode once, I need to watch it again) and landing on Stripe in that area. Bluey says "Muffin, say sorry or Santa will think your naughty!" and Muffin apologizes for hurting her dad.
(Keep editing cause I am writing this as I watch the episode lol) Now I get the reason behind the "We're backpackers" edit, that makes a whole lot more sense now! Also neat fact, I didn't know that you get your vegetables that way!

What I want to know why is Bluey isn't airing on Disney Jr as well as Disney +. Why would they be editing out this cartoon when they air movies that are way worse than Bluey.

I guess Disney+ decided to put most of these back in, luckily! (I watch them on Disney+ in the US)

    Oddly enough, I was able to watch the uncensored versions in Disney Plus in my country ^^;

theres a longdog by the nightstand in the living room in the s3 episode housework. You should see it in one of the first 5 scenes.

Rewatching the scene on Disney + they do include the dog being from France but exclude the backpacker part. Being from the US at first I thought when you said Backpakers they were just tourists traveling around with all the stuff they need in camping backpack and they were picking to get a little extra cash, not actual workers. In the US, especially in southern California that is mostly associated with Migrant Farm Workers as an equivalent. Funny the differences in cultural paradigms and policies

15:31 you don’t have to worry because they finally added it back to Disney + 😅

I don't know when this video was actually made, but I'm looking at it now on Disney +, and the episode family meeting is back on. It's episode 27. 😮
