Thanks for watching. Getting clips for this took a while but I’m glad I’m finally through with it (Setting up the emulator was not fun). I know it’s been a while since my last video, but with Ultimate coming, I can guarantee I’ll be making a video on it as soon as it comes out. College is hard, but I’m slowly getting better at time management. No excuses on slacking. This is a fallacy I see everywhere. "If everyone is X then no one is X." If a game has a multitude of flaws that does not make the game unflawed because the flaws cancel out or something. 64 is still a great game, but every character having a really strong or broken move(s) means that most people are restricted to spamming those moves if they want to win, and the characters who are most effective at activating their broken shit will dominate. This is of course in reference to the competitive scene, IMO 64's replayability comes from the casual aspects of the game.
I love the sound effects in 64. They are just so fun and satisfying.

theacp127 Here’s an idea for Ultimate: What is there is an update where they will give you the ability to unlock the Smash Bros 64 Sound Pack? Turn all hit sounds into their 64 counterparts, bring back that announcer, and even revert the voices of the original 12 fighters back into 64’s voices.

I'm doubting there will be much in Ultimate is broken, given it's looking to be the most mechanically sound Smash game by a country mile.
KINGOFDASLIPPYS ultimate will be the best game undoubtedly but no matter what there will always be something wrong with the game, a mechanic will be unfair, a character will be overpowered, or it will have a limited amount of legal stages, that’s just smash works, no matter what smash we’re talking about

At this point it's mostly just to finish out the "x is broken" series, then it is any sort of judgement. People generally accept why it is the way it is. Hell that's part of the charm. I think you're reading too much into it what's essentially just a demonstration of glitches in a beloved classic game. Not necessarily judgemental.

Also when making it game balance wasn't really considered. This was considered as more of a party game than a competitive fighting game. At most a stepping stone to Street fighter.
Sakurai never intented for it to directly compete. A lot of those broken mechanics likely were on purpose because he didn't foresee people taking it seriously enough that they would practice to the point they could do it consistently and build on it.
That is the thing though. Most people who play competitive smash in the older games are min maxxers. You basically just practice playing it broken professionally.
It shows. Anyone playing melee plays the characters that are the most broken. Why play the other characters when they suck.

@@vivelespatat2670 He was a last minute addition, and one whose flaws that could've easily been fixed. All he needed was being able to l cancel his moves and he would have been high tier. And honestly, that goes for every smash game. Most competitive professionals will play high tiers with only a few variations. Melee is just more unique because of its movement, not because of the jank it has.

The most satisfying (or most tilting, depending on which end you were on) move in 1999 videogames was to up-smash your friend as fox and then catch them with another up smash on their way back down.
I remember when smash was broken. Ahh the good old times. Back then ness’s bat was op and it was funny to see all of those characters go flying across the screen.

Smash bros 64, due to it's combo heavy nature, might be the most like a traditional fighting game than any other game in the series.
Nah, I like both traditional fighting games and Smash Bros and I can tell you that in other games Hitstun doesn't last as long as in 64. I still like 64 but if I had to pick a Smash game that was the most similar to traditional fighters it would Ultimate, there are literally 4 fighting game characters in this game guys.

@@Falkner1999 most of his moves are weaker than Mario's and Luigi has slippery controls. One of the only good things about Luigi is that his up b is very powerful.

Smash 64 is by far the best at being what smash was intended to be from the start. No hate for the many people who enjoy the competitive fighter it has become, but I would really love to be able to find more people who can enjoy a casual round of crazy screwy all items very high party game smash.

A lot of these features are things I feel kept the game good, the changes too these areas are specific problems I find in the new titles.

It's a beautiful sight, seeing bad characters become top-tier in 64
I may not be a fan of small rosters but they do have their advantages. Most notable being Balance.
Definitely the most balanced smash in the entire series.
As far as percentage of the cast, it is pretty balanced which is surprising. Pikachu, Fox, Falcon, Kirby, yoshi, jigglypuff, and Mario are all extremely viable. That’s most of the cast
