I thought it was just: Kirby’s not a bad character, some people are just bad at using him competitively.

64 may have been a very janky and unbalanced mess, but it's still fun to revisit even after 25 years and 4 newer entries in the series.

The Year is 2024... Banjo and Sora from KH Finally got in the game. Ikes Nair has been added to a faster character... Characters like Ice Climbers are our only hope against broken DLC Kazuya... The Meta Has divolved into "My disjoints are longer than yours"... Zoners and swordies are the new meta... but despite all of this... Smash Ultimate... is STILL Broken...

Hot take : Melee is only alive because of bugs and glitchies devs didnt had time to fix. Had they made the game they wanted to make, Melee would have been long dead, since Smash 4 at least.

This is entirely from a competitive perspective, from a casual one, which is the vast majority of the player base, almost all of these aren't a problem. It has a whole other set of problem such as sonic and Kirby being the most spamable characters on the planet but is still better than ultimate (half because of how terrible the switch is in comparison to the Wii for handing your dad the remote and letting him figure it out) due to how much Ultimate panders to the fanatics. Also interesting about Pokemon Trainer, didn't know it incentives swapping Pokemon, did they remove that in future games?

You really need to do a part 2 for Ultimate and see what mechanics are still broken despite all the updates and patches that have been released since launch.

Brawl was by no means perfect (no entry of Smash is) but it was still my favorite entry in the series until Ultimate dropped a decade later. (Yes, I like Brawl better than Melee and 4.) I liked the Subspace Emissary and the roster the best until Ultimate atleast improved the roster by a wide margin. Smash 4 was good, but it felt a bit underwhelming to me. Melee was great for its time (and still can be fun today) but it was very janky and unbalanced (but not as much as Smash 64.)
