Here's a quick one on how to use the Atmosphere Volume Shader (previously known as Atmospheric Scattering) to get Volumetric Light in the new release of Arnold for Cinema 4D.
It's great for some moody and rainy night scenes, where you want some of that beautiful realistic glow… And of course it's mandatory for cyber punk.
So prepare your dehumidifiers…
00:28 - Set up your scene
00:29 - Create an Atmosphere Volume Shader
00:31 - Add the volume to your scene
00:34 - DONE!
00:43 - Step 1: Having a scene with some lights.
00:46 - Step 2: Creating the Atmosphere Volume Shader (again)
00:53 - Step 3: Adding the Volumetric Shader into the Atmosphere Slot in your Render Settings
01:12 - Controlling the look of your atmosphere
01:20 - Adjusting the Density
01:28 - Adjusting Attenuation for more realistic results
01:40 - Turning up Attenuation for darker and moodier scenes
01:50 - And then samples!
01:56 - Controlling volumetric light on individual lights
02:42 - Instantly make any boring old scene 10 times better

Intro & Outro - Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It (Instrumental) by Ice Cube
Background - Cello Concerto No. 1 In C Major by Joseph Haydn

Best shortest Arnold video I've seen. Ty
Your channel is a Gem.
im not exaggerating or being stupid or anything but i sincerely think i want to cry ive been so frustrated trying to get this look for so long in Arnold for C4D, I got so fed up with not being able to achieve it and i quit. Months later, aka TODAY, i find this video. I love you. Thank you so much for this. I'm firing up C4D as we speak! *crying emoji*
that so short and clearly informative tutorial man !
pls make more arnold tutorial, i know this render pretty awesome..
Holy shit, this format of tutorials is the best. I'm so lucky I found you. This world is very fortunate to have you. Thank you sir and have an awesome day.
Rightbackatcha! :)
Finally, someone making useful Arnold tuts! Please keep it up. It's so hard to find interesting Arnold related tutorials. Especially for the 5th core.
Yeah, I haven't seen to much Arnold around. I'm hoping I can change that...
thank you for all!! That content quality, plus the sound make your tuts the best c4d content on internet!!
Thumb up for Arnold, I am trying to learn it, awesome video. Also love your voice, you were made for these kind of tutorials.
Or maybe these tutorials were made for this kind of me?
Loved the Haydn in background:)
u're my best!!

SHORT AND SWEET THANKS!!
Keep it up Man, So inspirational !! ur the best
beautiful
boi your style of videos is dope af. Pls do some octane stuff
But... but, then I'd have to learn octane... :,(
nevermind I'd just like to see arnold adding a gpu renderer cause octane is the fastest for me atm. I'd even consider switching if they'd add that
Yeeees, man. GPU is the future.
I saw somewhere that they will be adding GPU renders in arnold 6, i dont have source tho
that would be dope tho
best tut ever ❤️
You're awesome man!
It's the simpler tutorial I've ever seen since my mom googled how to create a folder.
Hey... I just got an idea for my next tutorial.
amazing
Your voice
Really Awesome !! what's your computer's specs ?
Good one keep up 👌
SOMEONE PLZZZZZZZZZ TELL ME HOW TO GET STARTED IDK HOW TO MAKE THE SCENES THAT I IMAGINE I JUST GOT C4D TODAY AND IM LOST
Can you please tell me how to get a voice as awesome as yours ?
Breathe deep, speak close to an okay microphone, add loads of compression in post!
Will it work even if you don't have a sexy voice ?
It does for me! 👌
Nice tutorial man! Do you have a tutorial about sampling with no noises?
There's really only one way to fix it: Add more samples.
The challenge lies in finding which samples to add... On the lights, in the shaders, or in the render settings. Using AOVs can be very helpful when hunting down noise, because you can see if it's in the Spec, Diffuse, SSS or Transmission.
Could be worth a full tut though...
great
please make a tutorial on arnold stand ins
Maaaan why do you have only 50k subs and why didnt i found you 3 years ago?
🤷♂️😆
how add both atmosphere and fog to the scene?
Can you please make a tutorial on Moody scene using atmosphere?
Consider it done! 👌
yeah i want it too , it's gonna be best stuff ever !!!
u rock man !!
pham meiji
Thanks dude. I am always clever like that.
Please give the link for the scene or any sample project to practice.
Hey @Daniel Danielsson! Do you know how I can have Atmosphere AND it being rendered as alpha? Would mean alot if you knew :)
Nice tutorial! Out of interest, why do you use Arnold over Octane (or other third party renderers)?
I like their ethos of making it render as physically accurate as possible, while giving lots of artistic control for the artist. Plus it's very powerful and stable. Also my graphics cards are awful.
Daniel Danielsson OK thanks!
why does it turn my whole scene purple?
From where do you get this awesome scene man?
Built it, my friend! The cars are from an early 2000s model pack by a company called "De Espona", the people are from the Object Browser. The rest is all built, but really shitty if you look closely... 😂
Might upload a time lapse of me putting the scene together.
Daniel Danielsson that would be awesome man, u did a really good job ❤️
Up now: czcams.com/video/kUR9ZsaFQ_4/video.html
My spec very low
ı can do it in octane
Amazing! How do I install Arnold for C4D?
ETK. Same I have no idea
There's help for that:
knowledge.autodesk.com/support/arnold/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-Install-and-License-Arnold-2018-for-Cinema-4D-C4DtoA.html
Daniel Danielsson thanks! You're the man 👍
So.. I've got the .exe to install it but i'm 1 step away and it asks for my C4D directory... What is the easiest way to find it?
I'm not a PC guy, but that's just the folder where you're C4D lives.
but by the way dude, is that can separated in after effects?
Yes, you can render a volume AOV from arnold.
Hey can u make a tutorial on how to make an emty street using c4d
I'm uploading a time-lapse of me building this street right now that might be of interest.
Daniel Danielsson yea mate that's great !
It's up now: czcams.com/video/kUR9ZsaFQ_4/video.html
Daniel Danielsson thank you! that helps😄
what is the use of arnold driver ? that you are using in the video
plz reply...
That's the render engine I'm using.
Arnold Open VDB tutorial.
That's something I wanna learn, so I might do one eventually...
Hey Daniel what’s up, is there an “octane scatter” in Arnold render?
Judging by the name, I'll say no... What does it do?
There's probably an equivalent.
Ok go to 1:17:36 in this Beeple / Ash thorp interview and you will see how Beeple scatters a whole entire city in octane not using a cloner in c4d.
czcams.com/video/ngJ4YOEgglA/video.html
You can certainly do that with Arnold, but you would use a cloner.
Arnold has a very nice .ASS format (Arnold Scene Source file, nothing naughty) that you can save objects with materials into. When you import them they won't slow down your scene with geometry and only shows up on render, but you can display as Boxes, wireframe or shaded in your viewport.
support.solidangle.com/display/A5AFCUG/Arnold+Procedural
Well, almost no one has done a tutorial about it. I have seen a German guy do this. I would like for you to do a MASSIVE since in c4d explaining this effect carefully. Can you, one day? Lol Thank you so much for your time Daniel 👨🏫. Man you tutorials are incredible!
Waiting 4 redshift tuts...
I'm waiting for better GPUs... 😩
Facking Simple!
It fackin is.
Where I can download this c4d scene ? Would be really helpful.
sexy voice
thank you for your time , not ours
Your very welcome!
