- CP4 failures and fixes is one of our most requested topics and we tackle it on today’s episode. Kyle from Hot Shot’s Secret is on the show to tell us what causes it and how it can be minimized. CP4 failures applies to all three brands and this product could save thousands on a costly repair.

You need Bill Hewit from power stroke help on your pod cast.
I used Hot Shot secret Everyday mix and have for last 3 years. CP4 failure at 43000 miles :( Currently waiting for new short block and fuel system.
Chris W if you dont mind, how often were you changing fuel filters and do you live in an area with high humidity?
This just happened to my buddies ‘16 Duramax with 40k miles last week. I’ve been using their products since I got my ‘15 GMC and crossing my fingers and only fueling at big chain truck stops
I have used automated trans oil in the fuel to help clean and lubricants the pumps that is old school I been around and big truck and farming had the Ford with 6.9 even the old GMs 6.2 hot shot is good I have used
A really useful and informative discussion, thanks!!!!
Use LX4 and EDT combined? Or just one? If one, which one? If using EDT solely, will EDT dose provide same LX4 dose as LX4 alone?
Test against the reigning king, Opti-lube.
I like to see a guest to discuss proven combinations to make loads of streedable torque for a mechanical 12v p-pump that doesn't smoke or cook pistons. Injectors, delivery valves, turbos, ect
No smoke, it's called common rail !! For reduced smoke and good power check out Power Driven Diesel's AFC live unit !!
why? do you need a 12v, let alone a modified one that could smoke or cook pistons, injectors, delivery valves, turbos, ect
@@aaron___6014 I'm not into combinations at Cook Pistons or blow black smoke. Also, that isn't what I stated in my comment. Just because you don't like old technology doesn't mean that there's not others that do. Common-rail is great technology. Modern common-rail is on The Cutting Edge of Technology. Newsflash, deepam technology was cutting-edge 40 years ago. I can say with a great deal of certainty had carb or the EPA never been formed, the likelihood of us having common rail is pretty slim. It is stricter emissions requirements that has driven the innovation of common rail Technologies
@@timothymroberts2949 your comment suggests that you want a modified 12v. And modifying a 12v can come with the problems you listed, so I'm wondering why you even want to risk modifying the 12v?
@@aaron___6014 I want a modified 12v like you want to be broke. I'm interested in modification of any 12vs personally. It's more about learning. You wouldn't be able to make big power with comman rail if others hadn't spent time and money into r&d. There is nothing to say you can't make mechanical behave like common rail. Never say it can't be done in the face of those who are doing it. Anything is possible. We all can learn something new from pushing the envelope. 40 years ago it was said you could make 400 plus hp from a Detroit 6v71....well in 1981 my father build a 6v71 that made 435hp at 1400 rpm and smokes the dyno...nobody said it could be done....well he did. There wasn't an engine dyno west of the Mississippi that could handle the power output.... my point is we all can gain from innovation. The advantage to mechanical is if the electrical power completely fails, old mechanicals will be be able to function. Long live the p7100
2016 Lariat, 70K, DCR on order and sweating bullets. On 2nd bottle of EDT, was running Stanadyne prior. Do I need to add the LX4 to the EDT?
Hey how can make sure I don’t have dis problems again
And resources it
Would adding an exergy performance fuel system saver fca/mprop save metal from going downstream? As well as Fuel additive be fairly bulletproof?
The fuel system saver definitely helps, along with fuel additive to add lubricity.
That’s exactly what I do.
What's good for a 2019 ford f250 6.7 I usual use amsoil 5w40 6x with 32oz motorkote hyper lubricant with the fuel I use gray and white diesel Kleen as I travel for work all year got 67k miles on the 6.7
Diesel Kleen is the Walmart of fuel additives. Opti-lube is the king with just a few others being decent such as Amsoil and Hotshots. Hotshots still haven’t provided any tests of their product against Opti-lube.
What is the name of the everyday additive with the LX4 in it?
Hot Shot's Secret Everyday Diesel Treatment 16 Ounce Squeeze Bottle (HSSEDT16ZS) I just bought it.
What year did the cp4 come out?
Depends the make/model, but they first started appearing in 2010. Common applications are: GM/Chevy 6.6 (2011-2020), Ford 6.7 (2011-2020), Ram/Jeep 3.0 (2014-2020)
@@kylefischer1750 GM stopped using it for 17+ in the L5P and unfortunately Ram started using it on the 19+ 6.7 Cummins😩🙄
@@kylefischer1750 Wrong info on GM GM LML 2011 to 2016, RAM 6.7 Cummins 2019-2020, Ford 2011 to present. GM 6.6 2017 to present uses the Denso Pump. Ram has gone back to the CP3 on the 21's
I'm not saying the theories here (and they are theories) are correct or not, but stating "same trucks" in Europe is nonsense. There aren't a bunch of LML's or 6.7 Power Strokes running around Europe. Yes, Audi and others use the CP4 but there are differences in their overall system. Simply stating that the "only difference" is the fuel isn't true. I do believe that the fuel standards are likely a core issue, but I don't believe that it's the "only" issue. Sorry, but I don't trust GM, Ford or even Cummins to not cut corners anywhere/everywhere they can. And yes, I own/drive both an LML and a Ram with a cummins as well as an Audi diesel all at or over 100K miles. I run Hotshots EDT in my LML but I don't believe for a second that it's "the one thing" that's making a difference here. I hope I'm wrong and it is, but I highly doubt it.
More of a B2 guy myself.
Archoil ar6500 or amsoil all in one. Change your file filters frequently. Problem solved
What about the 19’s-20’s ram cummins
Below is all vehicles with CP4
GM
2011-present GM Sierra trucks with 6.6L V8 Duramax LML engines
2010-2011 GM Savana vans with diesel engines
Certain GM Sierra diesel trucks with RPO ZW9 chassis cabs or pickup box delete
Chevrolet
2011-present Chevy 3500 Silverado trucks with 6.6L V8 Duramax LML engines
2010-2011 Chevy Express vans with diesel engines

Dodge
2014-present Dodge Ram pickups with 3.0L diesel engines
Jeep

Hmmmm. How come my 19 ram 3500 has one
I have one in my 19
@@bigcountry3198 GM stopped using them in 2017+ L5P
@@BloodSweatandGearsGA Exactly thank you.
Whaaaa!? CP4 failure less than 1% in Europe? 🤔is this true?
Even it were true, 1% is an unacceptably high number of vehicles. It's especially painful if it's YOU.
