I have traveled to over 35 countries in my life and in my travels I had very little money. When you travel the world with very little money, it ends up teaching you a lot about money. In this video, I share 6 frugal lessons I learned from traveling to 35 countries around the world.
1. You Can Accomplish Anything Financially If You Spend Less And Save More
We often think that the only way to achieve something financially is to either make a lot of money or come into a lot of money; however, my financial plan to afford traveling the world was simply, "spend less, save more." When you spend less, your savings naturally increase, which allows you to reach your goal. In order for this plan to work, you must be patient, consistent, discipline, and sacrifice, and although it's not a quick formula, it works.
2. You Enjoy Things To The Fullest When You Use Your Own Money
Traveling was not an enjoyable thing for me in the beginning; however, I eventually came to enjoy the experience due to the equation I followed beforehand: work to afford it first and enjoy it second. Most people, on the other hand, do the opposite and enjoy something before they work for it by using credit; however, when you do this, you don't have a appreciation and understanding for what you have. Life is much richer when you work for something before you get it because you have a much deeper understanding of the work it took in order to achieve it.
3. You Experience More With Less
When I was traveling the world, I did not have much money or stuff, and it was these limitations that ultimately gave me a richer experience. Having less made me more mobile, experience the culture more, and meet more people. I believe that this motto of having less applies to every day life because when you have less, you're more relatable, more grateful, and more mobile. When you choose to live a minimal life of less, you end up living a richer life.
4. You're Better Off Financially Than Most People In This World
In my travels, the most exotic place I went to was Myanmar, which was also the place I saw the most poverty. When you see people lacking very basic things in life, it puts in perspective of how much you have because the financial problems we often encounter are not as serious as people who lack basic life essentials. It taught me to be grateful for what you have in life and not always want more.
5. Money Can Solve Problems (Or At Least Make A Bad Experience Easier)
Although money can't solve every problem that we have in life, it can make a bad situation much easier to get through. In my travels, I had an experience where I couldn't get home and the way I solved it was to keep throwing money at it until I finally made it home. It taught me that it is important to always have extra money because that can help you make a bad situation easier.
6. The Biggest Investment You Can Make Is In Yourself
We often think that the investment that gives the biggest return is in real estate or the stock market; however, the biggest return come from investments you make in yourself. When you choose to spend money on an experience, memory, or knowledge, nobody can take those things away from you. We should use our money to enrich our lives, rather than focusing on material possessions or constantly making more money.

What's one place you want to go to before you die and why?
People need to stop thinking and stop day dreaming and just do, if they want to go somewhere else, then go now, because many people is gone not even reaching their desire destination, that's why people suffer because of desiring something and not doing anything about it, that's why we must focus on the present moment and just do it on what must be done

I have visited and live wherever I wanted. I travel online now at 81.
This is THE best advice. When you’re older, you’ll have a desire to have new experiences, rather than spending all your money paying for the past.
Thanks granny!
I grew up poor all I ever wanted out of life was a stable home a decent income and decent people around me I have no desire to travel I've done some traveling in my life don't want to travel again I love the stability I love coming home I love going to the Jersey shore and I love just all the simple things in life and and being surrounded by good people I appreciate your videos thank you thank you thank you I appreciate appreciate your videos they have helped me a lot thank you thank you thank
i love friday evenings with pizza and a movie on netflix with my husband
Amen! I spent the last 3 Saturday nights at home eating groceries that I bought at Wal Mart. Now, I won’t feel guilty for treating myself this upcoming weekend for my day trip which will include a special dinner at a farm to table restaurant. Already picked out what I want to eat and am budgeted for a grilled swordfish dinner, a glass of Pino Grigio, and a cigar to boot! No credit card needed 💳 🚫
Excellent content! Jesus Christ also lived simply and debt-free! Thank you 🎉
Didn't get sponge off others? I thought Americans frowned on that.
6:05. Myanmar was one of the most memorable places that I've traveled to. It's like time stood still. But the people there (who have so little) didn't look unhappy to me. Their smiles beamed at every turn.
One day! I would have if it was a Spanish speaking country! I've always joked though that Portuguese sounds like Spanish if you hold your nose.
Hello Agustin! I wholeheartedly agree with you on this. After I graduated university, I travelled to Patagonia by myself and now I understand why that was so enjoyable. I paid with my own money and it was a reward after graduating and having passed the Covid lockdown. Thank you for your content!

At long last, a new Agustin video for the week! As usual I'll be watching this twice to fully internalize all the useful points of the video 😊
Best greetings from Poland 😊😉🇵🇱
Pozdrowienia!
Absolutely blown away by your video! 🌍 Your journey to 35 countries on a budget is beyond inspiring. 💪 The equation of working hard before reaping rewards is pure gold. ⏳ Your perspective on experiencing more with less is eye-opening. 👁🗨 Your insights on valuing experiences over possessions hit home. 🌟 Thanks for sharing these life-changing lessons! Can't wait for more. 🔥🙌
Thanks!!
I learned many of these lessons traveling the middle east in 1988-1989. Thank you for sharing this to folks. I have many times to younger folks to go and do this. It was an extremely formative experience. I echo much of what you said. It is all true!
I whole heartedly agree with this sentiment. I normally like to save up some money before I purchase a larger ticket item.
Good morning Austin and thank you!
again awesome content austin............keep it up
This is such a unique topic. Thank you so much for sharing with everyone.🙏🏽👏🏼
Thanks Austin--for your content. Nice to see you have learned these lessons early in life...as you know some people will never learn these things. Hopefully some will heed your wise advice!
Once again a marvelous video.
I work with people who make alot of money. Many of them have huge debts. Spend less: save more is the key.
Excellent video Austin 👍🏴
Getting stuff on credit has been the bane of consumerism. Having the product without having to raise the money first is no incentive for paying the money back.
Some deep truths in this video. Well said!
GRACIAS Austin for these GEMS of FRUGALITY! Truly, you are the KING of FRUGAL. Please KEEP them coming!!😊❤️🔥
"The king of frugality," haha! Thanks!
Thank you Agustin 👍🏽👍🏽
Hi Austin been waiting for your video the missed one didn’t go unnoticed as I enjoy ur practical good advice 🙌
Thanks!
I have always wanted to go to Peru to visit sacred valley, Machu Picchu, and see the Nazca Lines. I think it would be a very spiritual escape. ❤ Great video!
I Love traveling and have been able to go to many places and both hemispheres. I love to immerse in the local culture and try the local food. It surprises me how many times friends have laughed and been like eww I wont try that. When we visited Jalisco we ate at a very popular food cart, anyone American we spoke to were shocked and said they would never eat that, even the locals were surprised but pleased that we wanted to try their food. I still remember that food and it was one of the best foods anywhere
I would love a video about how you traveled so inexpensively! Great video, thank you!
Great advice
I just subbed, this is a great channel!
Welcome!!!!!
Hey! Agustin! You must visit Brazil! My country is a great country, you will enjoy here! When you come, make a video about the places you like the most! I recommend São Paulo, it is a wonderful city! Thank you for this amazing video! Luv ya!🌸💗
That first class ticket is extremely brilliant for 23 years old.
You should teach the neighbourhood kids about money rather than adults.
You truly are amazing, so knowledgeable! I know it’s not really what you’re about, but with your wisdom & knowledge/expertise, you should be a multi millionaire xx
Thanks! And thanks for regularly commenting!! As long as I can make a living on CZcams, I am happy!
Hey Austin. You still look 19! 😂 Enjoy your weekend and thanks for your smart insight.
haha, when I was 19 I looked 10. I remember going to a club on my first trip and someone came up to me and said I looked 12.
Lov u lov watching .apleasure ajoy to watch good 👍 👍 👌 advice ❤❤😊

Bedankt

You should do some challenges like grocery’s that are best value for your money
I have travelled 3-4 countries and have no much desire to travel anymore.. I think the El Agustin of today was created by those travels. You Learned to live a much richer life with lesser.. ❤
How did you find Portugal? Where were you here? Love your content, keep cool!
Thank you for useful vlog i want to travel after i retire i want to do it, Now im saving more ty to you.
Japan and Korea I want to know how these country has money and clean .
I wonder how I can use this advice when I'm a new immigrant with a family and a part-time low paying job that I'm thankful for
1st class, no class, you know how I roll!! LOL. Love it, Austin!!
Delayed gratification. My mantra. Work first, reward later. Save first, reward later. If i can't afford something then i dont buy it until i can
Definitely agree that you experience more with less: if you want to get to know a country, stay in a local hostal, take the public transportation and rub elbows with the people, as opposed to staying in a Western chain hotel and taking the tour bus. Re being financially better off than most people in the world, one thing I wonder is if Americans aren't more actually more vulnerable than, say, a peasant in Myanmar: so many Americans are isolated, lack a sense of community, are completely dependent on driving. Here in the USA we may have a lot of stuff, but when it comes to the things that are most important, I wonder... Excellent video as always!
Yeah, I feel like the lack of community is really harming people in the US. I think we are slowly starting to see the importance of person to person interaction. Also, I (sort of) feel like technology is on a path to be less manipulative. I think everyone is seeing pushing out hateful content isn't good for humanity...but I don't have social media so I'm only exposed to the YT algorithm...plus I am trying to understand it!
You made it work with$800 - $1000 a month because a strong dollar goes a long way in many countries. So this is pretty much doable for people for who earn in dollars. For real poor people this is not possible. Nonetheless I understand the message you're trying to convey and it still applies.
Yeah, you're right. The power of the currency made it all very easy and it was a huge privilege to be able to do.
Well, he already mentioned it: he won the birth lottery by being born in a first world country.
Wow- that’s an extensive plan mind boggling even- save more and spend less! Some just don’t get it!
And meet your fans here.
Lots of respect for you. I listen to the “Ramsey debt free scream”. Really easy to scream when you have an income north of 100k. Not a reality for many folks
I became debt free with less than 100K. It's discipline and focus.
The main reason for us to not being able to achieve our goals is not the money, but the choices we make in life. For instance, it's harder to travel and save money if you have a bunch of kids and wast money in crap just to have what everybody else has. Things that happen to most of people that don't have a plan for their lives. I grew up in a guetto in Brazil, and saw many of my teenagers girlfriends getting pregnant and/or getting involved with drug dealers, and I thought that if my life was already hard on my own, it'd be even harder if I follow their path. But that's what most people do, they just copy what other people do around them. I thank God that I choose to focus in work hard and study and was able to break the cycle and change my life around.
I'm lucky to live in a part of the country with great walking nearby, have a comfortable small home and great friends and neighbours. No-longer have the urge to travel far! Convincing upper-class English accent by the way!
I'm terrible at the English accent. My southern mom told me I'm terrible at doing a southern accent in my videos, haha!
Trust me, I'm English. You could play the perfect Hollywood villain sounding like that!@@ElAgustin
@@Tortise02 I thought, I would be the perfect Hollywood villain with my German accent?
Please also visit our country, the Philippines.
Yeah more Austin singing 😊
Just for you!
Thanks for doing that for me. I appreciate it. It helps me feel good 😌
Poland as well? 😊What cities Austin?
Just Krakow. I did the typical "Eurotrip" going around by train seeing various cities!
♥️👍
What is the deal with everyone's obsession with "traveling," honestly? I don't get the appeal. I've lived elsewhere. I came back "home" and live where I grew up now. People are all the same, everywhere. People usually just suck and life is extremely disappointing. Especially when they realize you're cheap, like me.
True. Im with you lol😂 But people definitely live differently from place to place. Different customs, culture. But I agree, people are all the same. When you’re young it’s natural to want to explore and seek out meaning and dreams through travels. But most of us eventually end up back home by choice. I’m in USA. The one thing I yearn for from my travels that no longer exists here is healthy food. Its all tainted and overly processed with chemicals, even our fruit and veg. No escaping from it. When you eat a diet free from it, say in Europe. The differences in how you feel are mind blowing. Also cultures that truly embrace family are more chill and laid back compared to one’s like here that are mostly made up of broken families, living for self. And where men are no longer relevant in leading the family. It’s becomes stressful and desperate and it shows. Jmo
Lived elsewhere? As in other countries?
Why does it matter? @@Michelle_Emm of course, a WOMAN says this
@@rnt45t1 because people and cultures in other countries are very different. Your answer tells me you've never left the US. I pity you. People are not all the same, if you'd ever travelled outside your comfort zone you'd know that.
@@Michelle_Emm I have no desire to EVER leave the states. Whatever, spend all your money on "experiences" and die alone with a bunch of STDs and cats.
Did you like Guatemala? I really hope you did, I Love my Country If you ever come back you'll have a free home stay haha
It was beautiful!! Lake Atitlan was sooo relaxing! Will definitely go back as it is also so close! I remember the traffic was terrible though. Heading back from Lake Atitlan took like 4-5 hours, but was only like 40 miles. It blew my mind how long it took.
Japan
Have you visited the Philippines?
You've been to Malaga and haven't say hi? What a shame🙃
I didn't have a channel then!
My bro just bought a car that costs 170,000 but he started by being frugal tbh lol
“First class is how I roll”. Scratching my head on that one. Not consistent with your message. Please explain
I was on a buddy pass and you only get on if there's a seat available, so often the first class seats are the on sold seats and that's what you get...and other times you have to wait weeks!
He was obviously kidding around
This is one of my favorite channel. It always makes my week complete! 😊 Despite the economic downturn, I still manage to earn $25,000 weekly from my investment of $3,500 ..God bless expert David Ramsey. And now I have checked out a lot of places I’ve always wanted to visit , Paris being my favorite
HOW! I would really appreciate if you show me how to go about it. Please can you list the platforms ?
Same here, I started with $3,000 now earning $28,300 bi-weekly profits with his trading program. He's really amazing i still cannot believe someone can be this exceptional when it comes to Bitcoin activities.
I’m from the UK 🇬🇧 I’ve been trading with Mr David Ramsey for a year and he has proven to be trusted and the best broker. I strongly recommend him
He's a great personality in the state 🇺🇸 I'm also earning from him.
I will advice you find a good crypto trader like Mr David Ramsey, that will help you through
