    In this video, I share 10 different ways I save money at the grocery store and on cooking.
    1. Be A Walmart Shopper
    By shopping at Walmart, I am able to save over 20% on my entire grocery bill compared to many other grocery stores. In my experience, Walmart is the cheapest place to buy groceries.
    2. Drop It Low Or Reach With Yo Toes
    At the grocery store, there is a lot of psychology behind product placement. Generally on a shelf, the products at eye level are the most expensive products and the products at the top and bottom are the generic, cheaper products. If you bend down or reach for different products, you can save money.
    3. Stay On The Edges Of The Store
    At most grocery stores, the products on the outer edges of the stores are healthier and will nourish your body, and the products in the center of the store are less healthy and don't nourish your body. Don't waste money buying groceries that don't nourish your body and do most shopping on the outer edges.
    4. Read Ingredients, Don’t Be Superficial
    People spend a lot of money because they believe that because something is in a nicer package, it is better; however, if you read the ingredients, you often see that there is no difference. If you focus on what's inside of products, you can save money.
    5. Buy In Bulk
    When you buy a larger quantity of something, it is generally cheaper. For certain products that don't go bad, I choose to buy in bulk to save money.
    6. Don’t Be A Trendy Pampered Chef
    We often go through trends with cooking where different products are promoted like juicing, instapots, and air friers. Although these products are cool, we often use them once and then they end up sitting never to be used again. You don't need fancy cooking products to make good food.
    7. Keep Your Kitchen Stocked With Foods You Enjoy
    Everybody snacks and the common places people get snacks are their pantry or a drive thru. If you spend a little extra money to get foods you enjoy, you will save money in the long run because eating at home is always cheaper than eating out.
    8. Double Batch For Lazy Days
    Cooking can get exhausting and oftentimes we opt to eat out because we don't want to cook. Whenever you cook food, if you make two times the amount of food, you will have left overs you can eat for a day you feel lazy and don't want to cook.
    9. Be Conscious of Price Per Unit
    If you look at the price tags at grocery stores, they often have a "price per unit" tag that shows you which product is cheapest. Products often come in different weights, so prices can be misleading; however, if you look at this tag, you can find the cheapest option.
    10. Buy Kitchen Supplies At The Thrift Store
    I choose to get kitchen supplies like cups, plates, and utensils at the thrift store because they're almost the same condition as new and they are way cheaper than buying new kitchen supplies.

      Fasting (in my religion it's basically eating a vegan diet). I found that vegan diets (thought they are not what I prefer) are cheaper than non-vegan stuff.

      Switching to a vegan diet has saved me a lot. No meat, no fish, no cheese, no milk, etc. really helps keep the cost down. Tofu, rice, oats, pasta, beans, lentils, potatoes, bananas, etc are some of the least expensive foods in the grocery store.

    Hilarious video! I use a couple of those "fancy" gadgets, namely the Instant Pot ( which costs about $100), and splurged on a Breville countertop convection oven/air fryer. Use both of them regularly, as they save time and electricity, especially the Instant Pot. Also, you don't heat up your entire home when cooking with them, so you save on utilities, too

    I began buying my produce at the local farmers market because it’s cheaper. I use a cast iron skillet and steamed the veggies rather than frying them, etc. I use organic olive oil. I eat healthy food as cheaply as I can. I don’t eat much (intermittent fasting/one meal per day) which is even cheaper. Eating healthy saves money on doctor bills, medications, etc., while at the same time reinvesting in your life expectancy!!

    The instant pot is worth it. It constantly saves me hours at the kitchen and is way easier to clean. Buying 2.8 Kg of boneless chicken thighs at Costco and cooking them all at once while working is the cheapest and fastest way to consume protein throughout the week. Also, I keep the chicken stock and when cooled I can remove the fat from it very easy.

    You can sing and act too, bravo Austin. Thanks for making me laugh. I’m in Ireland and shop mostly in Lidl and Aldi which are quite popular here. Yes we look at price per gram here.
    I was in Walmart Florida, on my travels in the States, I never saw so much ice cream and cereals on display anywhere else, loved the more mature person who greeted us on entry found that quite novel as elderly people are usually retired here and was amazed so many plastic bags were used for our groceries as we have a tax on them here like 27c per bag so people bring their own reusable bags instead, we used to have bags caught in trees and rivers but with the tax it improved things overnight, we don’t want to pay extra for things.

    • @ElAgustin

  • @danicegewiss862
    @danicegewiss862 Před rokem +8

    Lidl is cheaper than Walmart. I compared prices on many items. Lidl beats them out each time. Love your abs. Lol. The eye level thing is so true. Produce is the first thing you see in most stores. Absolutely true. You'll never see me buying Lucky Charms. A bag of black beans will run you about $2.00 and you'll get 3-4 cans of beans. My instant pot gets used for everything every day. My oven goes through twice the electric as my instant pot. I was able to unload a lot of clutter in my cupboards thanks to it. We're BJ'S members, so, of course I buy in bulk. I have a bidet. TP kills acres of trees. Bidet kills none. We donate stuff to the homeless. Buy coffee cups brand new? Why? You get cool ones at yard sales for .25 to a dollar. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

    Agree with a lot of this, but I’ve used my instant pot regularly for years. You can’t beat the flavor of bone broth made with old bones from a chicken or turkey carcass with water, veg scraps (I keep a huge bag in the freezer. Every onion skin, cabbage core, and veg scrap goes in there) + spices and it’s done fast. Practically free soup. You can buy dry beans, soak them, throw them in the instant pot and in less than an hour they’re ready to eat. No tin can to add to the billions of cans we Americans use every year. One of my best investments. Forgot to mention that 1 lb of dry beans for around $1.79 yields ~7 cans of beans that cost $6.23 and you help save the planet by eliminating the cans.

    I shop at Aldi, Dollar Tree and WalMart Neighborhood Market exclusively. I buy products on the store perimeter and buy the store brands. At home, I break apart the packages of meat and freeze the individual pieces. I do not eat beef, milk, processed or snack foods. I believe in cooking each meal when I cook. Cooking a lot at a time to freeze is not my idea of using my time wisely. I want freshly cooked food at every meal. Finally, portion control stretches my food budget and prevents overeating, indigestion, and putting on unnecessary belly fat.

I'm truly grateful for walmart and Walgreens. I wash my butt in the shower paperless. I never cook, so never wash. Pretty much never eat out. Snacks are my sucker lure. I try hard to avoid. I eat every 3 hours but skip some meals. Small meals, obviously. Ya the thrift store donations are the fast track to minimalism for me.

    I save in so many ways n I'm going to share just two ways.
    I save in one way by using my food saver when I see a sale I grab it up. And when I come home I freeze it all with my food saver which allows me to save it for a very long time. Which in turn saves me alot of MOLA....
    Second way I save is by using a grocery list. I hardly ever go to the store without one. It saves me at least 25 to 35 percent of not buying on impulse....which the store would love for me to do but I don't. And that is two ways I save alot of money...how do u save?

      i'm the exact opposite and never have a list. I love to cook and experiment with recipes, so I basically cook based on what the lost leaders are for that grocery week and whatever produce they have on clear-outs. I save a lot of money inventing creative recipes from on sale items. I do also flash freeze items that are on sale like peppers (cut up into strips int a food saver bag into freezer).

    Another Great video! I don’t find Walmart to be cheap. ( for years now) . I shop the loss leaders at my 2 local supermarkets and ALDIs. ( they have less preservatives in their food because Europe is stricter with food additives).
    Oh and get an add on bidet.😊
    I do love my air fryer. It cooks food perfectly and the instant pot is great for tougher cuts of meat. It uses a quarter of the time of a slow cooker or oven.
    Still love your presentation of ideas! Helps me stay on track. Thank you.💗

    Yes I'm cutting sugar down. I'm only allowing myself one sweet thing a day. That means I can have a biscuit, a small piece of cake or a sweet drink or a few sweets. But that's it! When the sweets are gone I'm not buying more. Although I may have the occasional slice of cake or cupcake. We have walmart here in the UK it's called Asda. I find Iceland just as good but they don't sell homeware and clothes.

    I have no idea how people spend so little on groceries. I spend about $600 a month and I cook all my meals. Walmart has garbage quality, I wouldn’t touch their meats or produce, which is the bulk of what I eat. Aldi or Costco ftw.

    • @oscarfelix1952
      @oscarfelix1952 Před rokem

      It comes down to one's income and their priorities, really. I'm single and spend below $200/month. I eat mostly meats, fish and produce also. I don't buy organic but maybe I should. But I feel I eat very well.

    • @davidmann2524
      @davidmann2524 Před rokem +1

      @@oscarfelix1952 Canned salmon is $4 for a lb. About as cheap and healthy a protein source you can get. Baby carrots about $1 a bag. Let’s call that lunch so $5 at 600 calories.
      Frozen Broccoli $1. Half a chicken is $4. So that’s 10 bucks and you’re at a total of 1600 calories. So need another 1000. 10 bananas is about $3. Pro tip - organic bananas taste way better and actually last much longer because they don’t turn brown on the inside as the peel browns.
      13$ not including spices, butter and oil.
      I just don’t get how people do it unless they are eating a shit ton of lentils and rice and beans. Eggs are cheap, I don’t really eat them because they fuck me up, but I also wouldn’t touch anything not pasture raised when you see the conditions these hens are in.
      Aldi and Costco is about as cheap as it gets. Publix bogo comes out to about the same as their prices.
      Any chance you can show me what your cheapest day of food looks like? I’m more curios than anything

    • @oscarfelix1952
      @oscarfelix1952 Před rokem

      @@davidmann2524 I buy all my produce at Aldi also but no meat because I can get it cheaper at 2 other supermarkets. I only buy chicken, sausage, salmon on sale (which it is regularly) and stock up, enough to last 30 days or so. I only buy beef occasionally when it's on sale. Bacon seems to always be on sale for as little as $2.99-$3.99/lb, stock up also. I make my own chicken stock for free from whole chicken carcasses. I usually eat protein and vegs and or fruit for each of my 3 meals. I rarely eat sweets but eat nuts, trail mix, yogurt , vegs/fruit, cheese for snacks. I eat fewer calories than you, 1500 or so/day. I only drink seltzer water and coffee with creamer. I obviously eat less than you. I don't feel deprived. But I do stock up on good deals. Freezer and pantry is always full. And of course, I never eat fast food which I guess you don't either.

    😂😂😂😂😂 Grocery stores are such scammers. They price according to the income level of surrounding neighborhoods. Income too low, profits not through the roof, they leave; hence food deserts. It’s “all that the traffic will bear” in their playbook. I garden, freeze, can, buy in bulk. (Haven’t bought tp in years). And still get sucked in from time to time, dang it!

    Hi! Flashfood is a good app where you can find discounted food from your local grocery store! It’s expiring food, the grocery store is getting rid of it for whatever reason, etc. Saves money and reduces food waste. I don’t know if it’s available everywhere, it’s available in northeast Ohio for sure.

    I run a frugal food group here in Arizona and after taking a poll Fry's is the most popular place to shop ... I am not a W fan by any means I think their prices are just about the same as any other store.. The savings are in the store APPS ! 2 weeks ago Safeway/Albertsons had chicken for 99¢ a lb . Totally worth going and getting... BTW your video was too funny !

    I DO shop at Walmart because I really like the Great Value Cantina Thins tortilla chips. BUT real world example from last week. I bought some Eukon gold 2 lb bag at Walmart for $4.77. My mom told me that they were at Aldi's exactly the same kind and amount for $2.75. Sometimes for some things...Aldi's is less expensive and they have such a great selection of cheese and dark chocolate.
    I know not everyone has Aldi's but it's worth checking out. . I cook all food from scratch with as few processed items as possible.
