The world is very volatile right now where due to so many events that have happened in the post pandemic world. Now more than ever it is important to live a frugal life where you live below your means, spend intentionally, and budget your money. In this video, I talk about the state of the world and 7 reasons why being frugal is so important right now.
1. The Unintended Effects of COVID Response Are Still Unknown
The COVID shutdowns affected people where they lost their jobs and businesses were not allowed to stay open. The government responded to this by pumping a lot of money into the economy through stimulus checks, unemployment benefits, low interest rates, and payment protection. Although this was a lifeline in the beginning, we're starting to see the negative side effects of this like inflation, increased house prices, and market crashes. As more time passes, we could see more negative effects and so being frugal is important to prepare for the uncertain future.
2. The Modern Economy Is Extremely Fragile
Our economic system is extremely complex consisting of complex supply chains. This complex system, however, is extremely fragile where the smallest change could throw it off course. For example, in 2021, changes in consumer behavior affected the supply chain where many store's shelves were empty. Being frugal is important because the economy could change extremely quickly and so we all must prepare living in such a fragile system.
3. World Order Is Being Challenged
The last few years we have seen many big world events occur involving world super powers. This has and could affect the economy drastically that harms individual's personal finances. It is important to be frugal in this volatile world where world order is being challenges because things could go from bad to worse very quickly.
4. Job Security Is Nonexistent
In the past, many people would get a job and stay at that job for most of their career because they received a good deal of job security; however, nowadays people change jobs every few years because job security is non existent. We live in a world where you can no longer rely 100% on a paycheck. And so being frugal is important because it's important to take steps to be financially secure so that you are not 100% dependent on a paycheck.
5. Life Is Becoming Increasingly Unaffordable
In the past few years, we have entered a cost of living crisis where inflation has increased the prices of everything. Life has become increasingly unaffordable and prices are unlikely to go back down. It is important to be frugal and intentional with your money in order to afford to live in this expensive world.
6. Nothing Really Makes Sense Right Now
Despite all of the bad things that have happened in the past few years, on paper, many things about the economy seem to be doing well; however, this does not necessarily make sense because many families are struggling financially right now. Being frugal is important because many people are struggling right now.
7. Nobody’s Coming to Save the Day
If we have learned anything over the past few years with everything that is going on, it is that nobody is coming to save the day. It is important to take responsibility over your personal finances because you are the only one who will protect you financially.

Signs You've Made It Financially (Even If It Doesn’t Feel Like It)
I hit 100k in 2023
Just sold a property in Portland and I'm thinking to put the cash in stocks, I know everyone is saying its ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? How long until a full recovery? How are other people in the same market raking in over $200k gains with months, I'm really just confused at this point.
Yes, a good number of folks are raking in huge 6 figure gains in this downtrend, but such strategies are mostly successfully executed by folks with in depth market knowledge
Very true. Despite having no prior investing knowledge, I started investing before the pandemic and pulled in a profit of approximately $950k that same year. In reality, all I was doing was getting professional advice.
How can I participate in this? I sincerely aspire to establish a secure financial future and am eager to participate. Who is the driving force behind your success?
@@JimGreenfield There are a lot of independent advisors you might look into. But i work with Dianne Sarah Olson and we have been working together for nearly four years, and she is excellent. You could proceed with her if she satisfies your discretion. I endorse her
@@Morgansta Thank you for this tip. it was easy to find your coach. Did my due diligence on her before emailing her. She seems proficient considering her résumé.. can I get a way to communicate with you as I have some questions
🥳🎉100K🎉🥳 You had around 1.2k when I subbed. I knew you would be big!!! Way to go!!!! You’re just going to keep better from here🎉
Wow 100k subscribers ✌️
Congrats on 100k subscribers 🎉Love your channel.
The S&P 500 moved 8.9% higher last Month, achieving one of its best monthly performances in history.. which is an indicator for profits to continue to improve. I just want my money to keep outgrowing the inflation rate. I'm still looking for companies to make additions to my $500K portfolio, to boost performance.
I think the next big thing will be A.I. For enduring growth akin to META, it's vital to avoid impulsive decisions driven by short-term fluctuations. Prioritize patience and a long-term perspective consider financial advisory for informed buying and selling decisions.
Opting for an inves-tment advisr is currently the optimal approach for navigating the stock market, particularly for those nearing retirement. I've been consulting with a coach for a while, and my portfolio has surged by 85% since 2022
Please can you leave the info of your lnvestment advsor here? I’m in dire need for one
Laila artine kassardjian' is the licensed coach I use. Just research the name. You'd find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
Thank you for this Pointer. It was easy to find your handler, She seems very proficient and flexible. I booked a call session with her.
Hello Austin Williams, I hope you find this message well. I just started creating a budget from today and it's taking a lot of time. Thank you for providing the spread sheet. I am very excited to bring spending and saving to sane piont in my life. Thank you very again. Best regads, Greg
Most of us that more or less like what we do spent a whole sh*tload of time doing stuff we didn't. My first job as a lawyer expected over a hundred hours a week- on a fixed salary. I took over the position of managing attorney after a few weeks, but it was months before they raised my pay. Same story when I became managing partner. And here I am, 72 years old, and sitting at the same desk. I have a decent life, but it is one for which I will have to work my entire life. But, that's the bottom line, isn't it? No one is going to save your ass except you. Working until I die is better than the alternatives.
Garbage channel.
What age should you stop being frugal, when you have 3million ?
Congrats on 100K subscribers! 🎉 You deserve it, awesome content 😎
Good video but the reality is most jobs in the US are now hybrid and some are 5 days per week. Lot of companies are laying off remote workers so this may not be possible. The only true way to become a nomad is go into freelance where you are the boss and do anything you want. Remote jobs are getting harder and harder to find and I'm sure corporations want to make sure they have control over you. One way to do that is kill remote work so you cannot escape. Also lot of digital nomads are making roughly 20k to 25k per year which is still great for overseas and very few make over 50k or more.
thank youuuuuu!!!
The water and electric companies do not incentivize low consumption. My bill when traveling usually is still 30 or 40 bucks because of taxes, fees, connection fees, etc. Even when my usage is zero. It's a scam. I would love to pay a higher percentage for my usage and less for the right to be connected
Some people choose to cut back and some are forced to cut back. Prices are cheaper when credit freezes.
So much for the Keynesist economy. Bring back the Austrian model
No if people can find ways to outpace expenses being frugal is not even necessary. Austin you know from your own experience the math side of the equation is helped by conditions and other factors but even if not frugal you have the odds in your favor....
Making money is not the same as maintaining it, which is why i don't understand why investing is not properly taught in schools. Cutting costs. spending less, earning more and investing passively The best way to find that balance between saving and living is by investing..what i can say to early investors is diversification and solid management this was how i got to my first million..at this point I'm actually grateful for my advisor
The thoughts and ideas here are remarkable
I’ve actually been looking into the market lately, the news I’ve been seeing hasn’t been so encouraging. who do you use as your fiduciary ?
@@soveinaaraceli Dianne Sarah Olson' is her name. In her area, people consider her to be a genius. Look her up; she's well regarded in her field.
People are tired of being treated like crap… big corporations could care less about people, only the bottom line.
I think one problem is the masses are taught to consumers and earners and not investors.
Great advice, Austin!
I’m 50 and my husband 54 we are both retired with over $3 million in net worth and no debts. Currently living smart and frugal with our money. Saving and investing lifestyle in the stock market made it possible for us this early even till now we earn weekly. Thanks to FIRE movement. I could achieve all this with the help of my FA Dianne Sarah Olson.
I am avoiding debt , saving and investing around 40 percent of my income. works for me
Looks like she really knows her stuff. I also found her online page and read through her resume, educational background, qualifications and it was really impressive.
I have loved ISAs and they are the basis of my planning for my old age.
i looked up Dianne Sarah Olson on the internet out of curiosity; she has a strong résumé
This is SO ACCURATE! 🎯
I would add on to your point where people don't feel secure anymore with their jobs. Now people don't even want to participate with those jobs with big corporations. We the people are on to the corporations scheme of profits at any cost. Everyone is giving the corporate concept the middle finger. It's a gig society from now on. To hell with making the very few corporate elites ridiculously wealthy.
wait a sec, maybe i'm not poor and in massive debt! i'm just frugal!
Very enjoyable video! Very truthful.
As many of us struggle with 30% increase in cost of living - now imagine it going to 60%. Hard times ahead that we have not experienced - doors will be closed to many in terms of credit. Think of what you need most now and store up the way a squirrel would. With the intense conditions coming there will be things 'not available'. When you buy vegetables from the grocery store - cut the ends and place them face down on a tray or cookie sheet - add water. Transfer to a pot of dirt once they root - and you now have your own veg plant instead of buying from a garden center.
I live in Ukraine and you can image how valuable your information is for me!
I want to work and I do work. Stop talking alone in front of a camera, it's the main reason why you are typing delusional title and false premise. If everything is going to become chaos and you would be starving, no clear water to drink like Calgary, you wouldn't want to be surrounded by lazy people that cannot put efforts and basically are whiners and not warriors.
Buy only what you need and buy less than what you can afford
Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly.
Investors should exercise caution with their exposure and exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or trusted advisor in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields.
This is superb! Information, as a noob it gets quite difficult to handle all of this and staying informed is a major cause, how do you go about this are you a pro investor?
Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.
wow ,that’s stirring! Do you mind connecting me to your advisor please. I desperately need one to diversified my portfolio.
Could you possibly recommend a CFA you've consulted with?

Learning to live within my means. Life slowed down, i don't eat out much anymore. I go to Starbucks twice a month only not everyday anymore. I don't treat others as often as i used too. Learning to apply managing my cash, my time and learning to control self in many areas of ky life... liking staying home. Not doing much of social media but reading a lot and intentionally learning to develop good habits. So far so good. No more credit card debts, no new debts. 2025 ill be totally debt free God willing.

If you have no kids, being frugal is kinda useless. Aging and getting weaker and poorer health since you were 20-25. You will die anyway. Life is short and passes everyone by. Just each in different stage of dying. basically
I’ve been diligently working, saving and contributing towards early retirement and financial freedom, but since covid outbreak, the economy so far has caused my portfolio to underperform, do I keep contributing to my 401k or look at alternative sectors to meet my goals?
keep contributing to your 401K, remember you are in for the long haul, however I'd suggest you consider financial advisory
Agreed, getting good financial advise is invaluable. At first-hand experience, my portfolio is well-matched for every season of the mkt and has yielded 85% since early last year to date. I and my advisor are working on a 7 figure ballpark, tho this could take another year.

I’d be retiring or working less in 5 years, and curious to know how best people split their pay, how much of it goes into savings, spendings or investments, I earn around $200k per year but nothing to show for it yet.
get rid of any unnecessary purchases, especially things that cost you monthly, or better still, you should consider financial planning
Right, I'm quite lucky exposed to personal finance at an early age, started work full time at 19, purchased first home at 28. Going forward, got laid off at 36 amidst covid-outbreak, and immediately consulted an advisor to stay on top. As of today, I'm barely 15% short of my $1m goal after subsequent investments.

Being frugal can also make you enjoy and appreciate what you have more, especially non tangibles. That’s been my experience. It’s been freeing in a way.
Okay, so I hear the same thing you said about people can't afford to go out and eat and do extra things because everything is so expensive, however, there is no time of day or night that whilist driving past restaurants, movie theaters, entertainment places, that the parking lots are always always almost always full! So my question is, where do these people work, how are they able to drive late model vehicles lined up by the rows and rows in restaurants and entertainment places and busy streets traveling and using fuel, etc?? I really wish someone would answer this for me.
