BJP’s Hyd Candidate Madhavi Latha Booked for 'Verifying' IDs of Voters in Burqa at Polling Booth

- Telangana: BJP's Madhavi Latha allegedly demanded the ID cards of burqa-clad voters and asked them to show their faces. A case has been registered against her at Malakpet police station. Meanwhile, in Nizamabad, BJP’s Arvind Dharmapuri allegedly objected to burqa-clad voters.

Action has already been taken under section 171C, 186, 505(1)(c) of IPC and Section 132 of the RPA.
*Edit:* Also, you cannot go to vote while covering your faces. Burqas are not allowed as per SC's direction to ECI while issuing voter ID cards or voting. A person's face must be clearly visible irrespective of what you wear. Hence women officers are allotted by ECI on booths.

@@j.j3326 Yes, candidates can't inspect or check ID's but they can complain. An electoral officer on duty or Returning officer or DM can satisfy the candidate by inspecting the issue after voting time.
Inside the gate or booth, you have to show your face. You can't wear dubious clothes too. And they're indeed sitting inside the premises covering their face which is generally not permissible.

When Muslim members went to the SC the SC said that Burqas are not allowed while issuing voter ID cards or voting. ECI has to follow it.

@@xdadev dear, the case is ajmal Khan vs state of India and specifically EC. In the judgement it is only mentioned for issue of voters while taking photo, as it is considered as purda. So only while issuing the voter id it is mandatory. As per guidelines it is clearly stated that only an authorised woman can verify the details of such individuals. Clearly here the bjp leader is not the authorised personnel. Similarly the candidate cannot be allowed inside polling premises and interfering with elections. Such politicians are only responsible if BJP looses this time.
@@anil_anthony It's not EC but ECI. EC was the election committee (reforms) and ECI is election commission of India.
Burqa or any face cover or dubious clothing is not allowed while voting too and they have to remove it and show their faces to the electoral officer.
And yes, only ECI officers can verify but the MLA's, MPs or even common citizens can report any malpractices.
Btw, action has already been taken under section 171C, 186, 505(1)(c) of IPC and Section 132 of the RPA.
Lastly, I don't want to comment on the BJP or Congress. Booth captures and malpractices were on insane heights before BJP govt as per various committees.
