Reddy's and Deshmukhs were landlords enjoying the feudal system of the Nizams era. Reddy's controlled the Telangana region and the Deshmukhs controlled the Marathwada region as Feudal Lords.
The poor farmers in Northeast Hyderabad State were carried away by the Communist Movement carrying arms against the Feudal Lords. These feudal lords joined the Razakar movement to safeguard their feudal system which resulted in chaos and state failure to control the situation.
The Nizam had no option except to accept his accession into Indian Union. A Political Drama by Police Action, Operation Polo was carried to invade Hyderabad State and control the situation.
The Indian Army on the orders of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel invaded Hyderabad and fought with the communists while the Nizams Army surrendered swiftly. The Private Militia of Razakars (consisting of Deshmukhs, Reddy's and Muslims) were under direct attack and put to control with the arrest of their leader Qasim Razvi. Several Communist activists and their leaders were killed by the Indian Army operations. The Nizam was declared the Rajpramukh of Hyderabad in 1950 who infact prior to that, was still the Ruler from 1948 to 1950 guarded by the Indian Army and his private guards jointly.
