#1 Factor You Ignore When Fishing Shallow For Summer Bass

- One of the most overlooked factors about shallow water bass fishing is the amount of current on given day. Current will affect the water level, how deep the bass feed, and how they position around cover. In this video, I explain how I take advantage of strong current and rising water to catch big summer bass on a swim jig in shallow grass. Hope you enjoy!

Do you prefer the swim jig to a bladed jig in this type of situation? If so, why do you feel the SJ is a better option? I typically find the BJ is killer in grass when ripped through and of course very attractive when fished through the grass cleared areas as well. Ive never had consistent luck with the BJ option....especially in stained or dirty water. The only time Ive had luck, the water was really clear.

So I struggle to gain confidence using swim jigs but love throwing a spinner bait. Do you just make the switch when the grass gets thicker or are there other factors involved?

Watch at 9:19 after he loses the fish. He kind of jumps and then sends shock-waves through the water letting then fish know he is there. I have seen the fish shut off when something like that happens.
