- Up today we're replacing a rear wheel bearing on my 7L/T1 V10 TDI Touareg.
Ran into many issues the first time around resulting in needing to order rear brakes, parking brakes and parking brake cables (video to come).
Good job, had a hard time finding a video for this job(Q7). Next time, you can smack the spindle out to make that part quicker, but I wish you pulled the ebrake cable 😂 that’s my issue atm, I guess I’ll hafto cut it too. Thanks again!👍
orings eh? 🫤 hope I can “persuade” it without cutting it.
I figured the Audi and Porsche variants would be similar. Between the ebrake cable and parking brake shoes/dust shield issues that made this job a lot more expensive and time intensive. I’m not sure if I included it in my rear brake video but that e brake piece that goes into the spindle was tight.
thanks Josh, I'm waiting for the same front tomorrow, replacing the axle. I hope without removing the gas shock absorber. greetings
you do such a great job. if it wasn't for you I would have never pulled the trigger on my 1st or 2nd VW V10 TDI. I'm saving up next year for a lift and engine lift cart from AGA Tools. Also looking at my 3rd VW V10 TDI this month.
As far as the rust goes I just got done wiring up the shop and will be installing a media blast cabinet and powder coating station. Let me know if you need any help. I want you to continue making these videos. They are so detailed.
Thank you, it’s a fine line of adding enough detail without making it dull or boring. I’d love a 2 post lift but don’t have the room to dedicate to it, I’m thinking of getting one of those moveable scissor lifts that’ll get you 3 or 4’ of height.
@@JoshsJettas scissor lift is exactly what I'm getting. Maybe Twin Busch. I have to get a different garage door unit that mounts to the side directly to the spring assembly and set the railing to the ceiling.
Any Idea if the 7P generation is the same process? I need to do a rear wheel bearing on an 2012 audi q7 and cant find much on youtube.
I don’t know if this is too late, but yes. 😂
I would love to see the timing belt/water pump replacement. I also just bought 2006 VW Touareg V8 with the air suspension and already dropped a bit of money in to it. Mine is also a PA car but I live in Pennsylvania, I only paid $2400 for mine but with 111,000 miles on it, has fully loaded interior. Those brake vacuum booster lines are not cheap and good luck finding the right ones. I would like to fix the cruise control on mine any ideas where to start?
This one’s a V10 so sadly/luckily there’s no timing belt just gear drive (I did a few videos on that a couple years ago). I think I had a leaky vacuum line going to my egr cooler valves so once fixed I seem to have good brakes again saving me from chasing those booster lines. Cruise might be an interesting one, I believe they don’t like if you have more then 1 abs sensor bad, might also be a faulty brake switch. Might require a thorough vcds scan and see what it’s issue is.
What was it sounding like while driving?
This one wasnt too noisy, just loose
Thank you for the reply. I’m trying to track down a noise on my Cayenne and I’m pretty sure it the rear wheel bearing. It’s not super loud but I’m pretty sure it’s the bearing. Only really hear it when I go above 70. Appreciate your post.
@benjaminerrico6760 usually they will get louder and quieter if you go through S bends. As the weight rolls towards the outside of the turn of it gets louder then that’s the bearing.
