    How fun are these fabrics! Small crossbody bags are so handy❤
    I keep a little bag rolled up in the bottom of my purse that is just big enough to hold my wallet and phone. It is unlined and rolls up into a nice compact little bundle.
    The top edge is hemmed and the sides are sewn with a French seam which is then rotated to the center front and back. The bottom is also a French seam with the boxed corners created by folding over a half inch from each side. The strap is two pieces of grosgrain ribbon that tie at the shoulder to adjust the length. The top is closed with a button and a ribbon folded in half in a cool way that creates a point on the end and a slot for the button to pass through.
    Might be something you could use some of your lighter weight samples for.

    Hi Christine. I use the fabric samples like yours. The best way I’ve found is to put the in the freezer for a week or so and when you take them out those horrible papers come off very easily. If you get the sticky bits, just sprinkle them lightly with talc. Love your videos.

    I have to mention one thing! I dont know what other countries or areas have but our California ID is like a credit card with a magnetic strip. About 15 years ago I bought a small handback at a thrift store to use for going out at night. It had a front pocket with a magnetic clasp. I put my ID and ATM card in it. It demagnetized both! So I wont buy or make a purse with a magnetic clasp. Oh and then it made me realize an overnight birthday stay at a local hotel the room key got demagnetized but had not related that yet as I had my 2 other cards inside the purse in a small zipper pocket!

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Před 10 měsíci

    Hi Christine, thank you for you very well explained, with lots of tips, video's. I just want to ask, do you do most of you overlock and sewing with black thread? And do not worry about the fabric colour. Also your topstitching.. in black... thank you and keep on doing this educational video's. Much appreciated

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Hi Lynette. In dressmaking, I'll try to always match the thread. With my bags, I tend to favour grey and black, as they blend better with most of the fabric. If lighter, I'll go grey or white for overlocking. For topstitching, if medium to dark fabric, I like to use a bluish grey thread, but I have no set rule really. It mostly depends on what's on my shelf😁

  • @topicsincriticalthinkingdy9351

    Hi Christine, Michigan in the house. I like the bag idea, but when it comes to the different types of fabrics, do you try to keep the polyester with the polyester, or do you mix them together? For instance, some swatches are 100% polyester, but some are a mix of cotton (25%) and polyester (75%) or some other mix. Or there might be a mix of rayon and cotton, or rayon and polyester or polypropylene and polyester...the fabric types are endless. I ask because the boards will have about four pieces sewn to it, showing the various prints for pillows, chairs, sofas and ottomans, and I'm finding that even though the color palette is set, the type of fabrics vary on that board. So do you pay attention to that, in matching the fabric types, or do you just pick your choices by the patterns and colors to put your bags together? Thank you..

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Před rokem +1

      It depends on how varied the fabric is. Usually, I'll put similar fabric together, but with furnishing fabric it's sometimes nice to mix it up a little. 😀

    Hi Christine , when you use the letter sided tape for your zips, are you then sewing through the dble sided tape ? The reason I ask is that my machine needle gets all gummed up, and the machine won't sew. Thanks

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Před rokem +1

      Maxine, I use the SewEasy double sided tape, and stitch through all the layers at once. I have never had an issue with the gum on my needles with this brand😀

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs

      I almost always sew it closed on the machine. Just lay the edges flat with seam underneath, and stitch very close to the edge😀

      Liz, they're much more economical to purhase in bulk. It depends on where you are in the world, but I often purchase from Ebay and Amazon. I have a few Amazon links in the description😊 I'm considering ordering from Albaba as they're even cheaper there
