- Brooke Astor was a prominent American socialite and philanthropist who inherited a vast fortune from her third husband, Vincent Astor. In 2007, her estate auctioned off her jewelry collection, which included over 80 pieces, and raised over $18 million. Some of the notable items included a diamond and emerald necklace, a diamond and sapphire bracelet, and a gold and enamel compact. The auction served as a testament to Astor's legacy as a patron of the arts and philanthropist.

I love Brooke Astor's taste in jewelry! Thanks for posting this one.
Mrs Astor was a great lady, a true sophisticate who possessed a lot of class, I hope I can be like her one day, Rest In Peace Mrs Astor!❤
Her jewels were exquisite!!!! I don't know how else to put it.
She had some good and expensive taste. Nice to see pictures if her wearing sone of the pieces and she lived a long time to enjoy her pretty little baubles.💍👑
The way the diamonds were set in each piece was stunning. Beautiful. The pieces were the perfect color against her skin. The woman had class
I've always remembered her reminder that it was "so much easier to be nicer to everyone." It springs to mind when dealing with difficult people! She was one-in-a-million, who deserved so much better than she got in her final years with that dreadful son and daughter-in-law.
I used to work in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She was a benefactor of the museum. She would also pay for the employee Christmas party. She would be there mingling with the employees. She seemed to have greeted everyone. She was a very nice person.
Thank you for sharing, Jaydee. Mrs. Brooke Astor had an exquisite taste, amazing collection indeed. Stay well and have nice weekend.
All the jewellery are so beautiful and brilliant thanks so much for sharing with us and enjoy watching it and so relaxing 👍
Even the heavy jewelry had a light and youthful appearance for a great lady.
What breathtaking jewellery! Thank you for sharing
Jewels from another age , all so beautiful !
Her life had its highs and lows... her jewelry was beautiful.
Beautiful jewelries!
nice pieces...
Pearls and Pins, always classic. Loved that unique bracelet and the Lion broach. I wonder who has those pieces today or were some of them broken up.
Those doxies. They are so cute.
Mrs Astor had many beautiful jewels, especially the emeralds ❤
love this content a bunch thank youuuuuu
I cannot imagine how heavy those platinum earring were!
Magnificent ! What extraordinary taste !
Love this 💎💍
Beautiful. I would prefer that a human narrate videos.
It was nice seeing her collection however the price estimate on the jewelry compared to the sell price seems very odd.
Why? Because the sell price is a lot more than the estimate? That’s fairly normal considering auction houses estimate the value of jewelry based solely on their material value and don’t account for provenance. And considering these were owned by the famous Brooke Astor herself it’s likely there were many friends of hers who wanted a piece of her jewelry as a memento.
And since they are pieces owned by a famous figure that also added to the value.

Aaargh! Robot voice… great content but I cannot listen to the automated voice over. Sorry.
@Thomas Conrad , I wish people had ears and an equak pocket but the majority of us live a struggling life with health issues that come with that.Ain't that swell?
Nothing extraordinary apart from the engagement ring.

She put up with a lot from her horrible husband, and then her own son treated her like garbage!
Which husband? She had three. The wife beater, the love of her life, and the rich one.
Although she was hailed as a great dame of society, her taste for jewelry was mediocre at best with the exception of very few pieces
This aristocratic lady was not in need of a 'bob or two'! The owning and wearing of such priceless pieces of jewelry was extremely immoral and shameless when one considers the amount of suburban poverty that existed all around when this old lady lived! No, it's this type of person that generates uprisings and revolts from the struggling poor in society!!
I really want your voice mine and others who agree to withstand this fn "aristocracy" .What? were they the "chosen" ones?? Bllsht.
I mean….to be fair she dedicated her life to alleviating the suffering of the poor and disabled. She regularly donated millions to poor houses and women’s shelters. And to make sure her money was making a difference she often visited these shelters and gave away gifts.
Also in her will she donated all $200 million dollars to charity. There’s a reason she was known as the “godmother of New York”. But the reason her money didn’t go to charity or at least not all of it was because her son changed her will when she had Alzheimer’s.
Wow. She really liked yellow gold with stones. Respectfully, it's an ugly collection with a few nice pieces. Looks very costume to me. Even in the 80s I hated yellow gold. I had some Chanel pieces in yellow gold because it was so hot. But that was it. Long Coin necklace, long monogrammed necklace, and a gold belt buckle.
Chanel is costume jewelry.
“Ugly collection?” Who doesn't like yellow gold with stones? 😂 Anyone comparing costume Chanel from the 80’s to these works of art? There are no words 😞
I love yellow gold, that's what I choose for all my jewels when I buy a valuable piece. Jewels sold by French haute couture names are generally expensive costume jewelry. That's not for me, thank you.
