Endless mode will just be BROKEN, but I guess since the theme of the game is chaos it’s fine. People have been waiting for a perfect story mode, then Octo Expansion came, which was AMAZING in my opinion, but there are a few things that could be changed to make the story great for Splat 3.
Edit: ok now this edited is on August 13 2022. Some things happened in the direct which involved story mode and salmon run. Salmon run has a new mode called big run which happens once around every 3 months. We will problably get this and not endless. Not too much story info, but it looks a lot more like octo expansion than we thought, which I’m exited about!
Yea I think the story of Splatoon 3 sounds AWESOME.But then in one photo I see a zap fish which makes me scared that it might be similar to the story in Splatoon 1 and 2 😕

WYR have Ultra Stamp from Splat 2 in 3 pretty much unchanged, or a completely revamped missles that are more agressive with less range to match Splat 3 specials

Having one "really good" kit is highly subjective. Unless the one kit is objectively broken, it's always better to have more options, since usually kits are meant to be situational. A kit meant for support, a kit meant for offensive, etc. Having only one kit for everything would mean less options for a player who only likes certain weapons.
For anyone who watches Dougdoug, he made a comparison between Overwatch and TF2 in one of his Explained with Food videos: If you really like one character in TF2, but want to play them a different way, then you can use different gear/weapons to change up their play style. You're fresh out of luck doing that in Overwatch because there's no way to switch out your character's gear or stats (as far as I know as someone who doesn't play Overwatch). You would have to choose a different character that fits the style you want to play more.

I don’t see Nintendo making an endless mode outside of private battle because I have a hard time seeing them encouraging extremely long play sessions that don’t have stopping points. for private, sure! But for normal online? Not so sure… And about battle royal, it wouldn’t work in splatoon because of how the game works. I even heavily discussed why it wouldn’t work in a splat3 criticism analysis video. Glad to know that someone else agrees :)
Well, the only way to reach max hazard/ profreshional 999 is to grind a SR session for multiple hours. And an endless mode would likely scale in difficulty pretty drastically to keep it interesting, so most players wouldn’t be able to get too far. I could see it happening
@@TheCosmicCloud Yes, but by doing so you play countless 5 minute matches, and can duck out at any time. But you can’t ‘pause’ an online endless mode. You’re compelled to keep playing until it’s over. It’s definitely possible, just not very likely for normal online in my opinion.
Oh! But thinking about it, it is realistically possible if it’s only available if you are profresh 400. People that good are often hardcores who play for several hours anyway.

I love how Grizzco ties into the game and is an essential part of building your gear and stack your money up Faster, and I just plain love playing Grizzco especially with Grizzco Weapons.
7:23 come to think of it, the potential of these could compare to the Inkjet and Baller levels in OE, the Inkjet ones to Crab Tank and the Zipcaster to Baller. There was 2-3X as much they could do with inkjet, thus more levels.
Even one tank level would be good enough for me, though I'd prefer if there were a couple
8:36 as a Tenta Brella player, VERY MUCH YES TO THIS. The amount of times my shield has popped up just in time, only for me to still die is countless, and it sucks that it is just part of the weapon class.
1:47 Honestly, the Spawning Areas would have to be completely redesigned in order to have both teams be able to select different spots and there should be like different spots that teammates would have to focus on individually. Or maybe just liberate the map up the map more, as long as players are forced to play tactically and the objective cannot be effectively be defended by the opponent, then everything should be good.
2:27 honestly, all they need to do is perfect the gameplay loop to a point where it is playable enough to not be boring for as long as they can update the modes, basically creating content that can reasonably keep players entertained long enough. And anyway, if they are clever enough they can just patch in the story into episodes that release in a weekly manner, kind of like a cartoon (Splatoon). That would be clever, wouldn't it?

I feel like a battle royale for Splatoon 3 would be a bad idea, considering that would be hard to pull off compared to a death match mode
I can't see either happening due to the fact that everyone would need different ink colors. The contrast would be too little, especially for color-blind people
Look at CS:GO's Danger Zone, it *would* be doable (well except with ink colours)
To explain real quick what makes that one unique it's simply having a small map, short range weapons and only 24 players. Considering Splatoon probably wouldn't have a good looting system they could commit to that design even harder, maybe 4x the typical map size and 16 or so players. Matches would probably be about as fast as base game ones.

Just to be clear. Free for All and Baytle Royale are synonymous of eachother, look at Knockout City, they have a mode called KO Royale, a battle royale mode that pits 8 people against eachother, and whoever gets 2 crowns wins (you one them by being the last one standing, after that everyone else but the survivor respawn and the fight resumes) and of course Ninjala's main mode which also pits 8 players against eachother but in a race to get the most points by fighting or getting drones. They're technically free for all modes, but with the trendy words slapped on top to sell games and cosmetic junk

It's kinda funny that the Splatoon 3 story is kinda a salmon run story in its own right. It expands the lore a ton
As someone who also doesn't really enjoy battle royales that much I could see one in Splatoon being really cool if it was just a fun side mode with a format similar to City Trial or Smash Run, with random mains, subs, and ability chunks that you can pick up across the map. I think the random nature of it would be a really cool way to encourage trying new weapons and gear that people would normally shy away from otherwise and I feel like everyone would love it as long as it's not taken too seriously

Looking at the crab tank in the turf war trailer, to me it looks like it increases your hitbox size like inkjet due to the arrows not exploding close to the player but exploding close enough to the mech to do damage. However, the player also instantly regains HP when they go into ball form as opposed to squid taking a while before regen starts, so we might just not know much about crab tank at all.

I don't like battle royals, especially for splatoon. It wouldn't go well with the weapon balance. More defensive/ supportive ones would be in a disadvantage.

I'm sooo hyped for Splatoon 3. Just thinking of the possibilities and what it could be, can't wait
WYR have a weapon selection thing for salmon run where between each wave you choose among 3 possibilities of weapons you can pick which are randomly generated, which can make the game more entertaining because you can't get locked with weapons in rotation that are bad, or for ranked and turf, having a Mario Kart 8 online type of selection for maps which would make the lobby a little less boring instead of just waiting I guess, but you can still change weapons during the waiting time if the maps proposed aren't good for the weapon you play.

While I'd like a good story I believe they might have the story good for this one, I'd love the option to have endless salmon run or incorporate that to the base game and have it were if you make it to wave 3 or 5? Your able to quite before you think your team think are about to fail

Yeah scrubbing is an unlimited money sink but once you have a few sets of competitive gear built, you're not going to be scrubbing gear too often

Yes, as a multiplayer focused game, multiplayer should be the focus, HOWEVER, as a portable switch title, being unable to play splatoon on the go is inexcusable. There needs to be a single player mode this time, which is something Salmon Run could easily be.
There was a story in both past ones and it was confirmed like 1 year ago for splat 3

Would you rather have private matches remove the restriction on gaining money or gaining EXP, so you could get one of these like you could get on other online modes.
It's the reason I rarely play private matches, other than not being able to play them solo(to try levels and change ink color)
Exp. If you want to farm money you can just play Turf War, Salmon Run, Octo Expansion, etc.
Also grinding exp wouldn't be game breaking.

My opinion on a new splatoon mode would be "Ultra Coverage." Basically Splat Zones but each zone is independent and when you fully cover a zone your points start ticking down from something like 200. To make it even simpler, Domination in Splatoon. That or a true CTF gamemode instead of Rainmaker's one flag CTF-type gameplay

I feel like for Brella, they need to make it so holding the attack button opens the canopy and tapping it fires the shot.
99% of the time I swear you can’t open the canopy before whatever you’re trying to block kills you, and it just doesn’t work well with how fast paced Splatoon is

uhhh yeah this was actually me not even understanding how to play brella basically. I was going in with the mindset you would play it like, you have a shooting mode and then a blocking mode and I was confused why nintendo mashed them both into one.
After playing it more, it finally clicked why this weapon just works and it's now one of my mains xd

Would you rather:
Have a new Siege based mode where you team up with all 8 players in a lobby to raid a fortress of some kind and recover a mcguffin/target. Would be played on unique maps similar to Salmon Run. players would fight against an AI army of a known or currently unknown species.
OR
A Capture-based 5v5 (or 6v6) mode where the goal is to splat the other team, but they get trapped in your inktank/gotchapon capsules. Those captured can respawn if the one who took them captive gets splatted themselves, or if they try to super jump out. Capturing all 5 other team members would be a KO.
Would be played on regular maps.
Both modes can be considered either Ranked or Non-Ranked, just thought they would be fun modes that are different to what we already have.

WYR Have a Less range Booyah Bomb but covers more Paint or have Mini booyah bombs that cover less but can give you multiple bombs?
WYR have a remake/remaster of Splatoon 1 on the switch for splatoon's 10 year anniversary (which would be an update in graphics, have all weapons, gear, and maps from the last update right off of launch, and would have splatfest return but it's just the same from 1 and results can't change from what happened in 1 on the Wii U) but this means that splatoon 4 wouldn't be a thing till 2028

PERFECT STORY MODE PLLLEEEAAASSEEEE
As a fighting game player I would much rather have a good training mode where there is literally another inkling or something akin to it and let you se damage dealt along with frame data and be able to set individual hp for the dummy and the player and also record and replay actions for the training dummy to perform and be able to select between multiple recordings and be able to pick a random recording too find out what covers what options better and have them activate on certain conditions like getting hit or squid rolling an attack.
It would also be nice to be able to set every single gauge and test out theoretical gear sets you don’t have.
I would rather have something like this than improving the private battles.

Anyone whot thinks that either a battle royale or a deathmatch would be fun is kidding themselves.
Keep in mind that support weapons work partially because all modes are objective based.
I am also with chara on his point that I hate the genre of battle royale, and the randomness would not fit splatoon whatsoever. Also being realistic the maps (if even one was released) would suck for that because nothing in splatoon is even remotely designed for that kind of an environment.

The game is finite but you have more to oppritunity to makr uniwue memories for the player
