My style has been evolving (devolving?) to a more classic one for the last few years. I have lots of nice classics now and will try to reduce my shopping from now on. This video is great for me.
I think my wardrobe has been doing the same, especially compared to a few years ago where everything I owned was printed. Thank you so much for watching :)
@@DailyHelenJ I have so many wonderful pieces... in prints... I love flowers and stripes and polka dots and... _lol!_ I love your wide-legged pants that are just a bit cropped. I am petite and would be afraid of being overwhelmed; however, your styling with these is just lovely. And then you/we get to put our prints on with something other than jeans! :) Thanks for this, Helen - very lovely and well-created. All the best, Shannon A.
I've been trying to dress more stylish recently, and I've discovered I can tuck old blouses I haven't used for years into my high waist pants and they look so much better. I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe when I'm just using old tops.
I actually liked your color combinations in the past, they werent so boring and obvious, it showed that you are not afraid to mix colors. And it pretty much always looked good and intentional, but not too perfect, which I liked :))
Right? The past to me read more like it was actually her own style. She has her own little spin on everything with interesting textures that she clearly loved while the “evolved” style is just more on trend with what is popular now. Very simple outfits full of neutral colors like everyone is currently wearing and talking about on blogs and social media.
I've noticed that continuing to shop and look for new new new is not only spendy but exhausting and I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels. I started to spend more time with what I already have. Allowing for quality time to try new things with loved pieces makes everything feel new. Not only with clothing but everything in my home. This video is perfect 💖
Your video just appeared in my recommended videos and I am blown away in this unique style you’ve shown of displaying your previous style vs current style, including the color palette on the side, and the editing is fantastic. Your are so soothing and peaceful to watch, and incredibly inspiring! I love this video and the information that you walk us through. 💕💕
Finally! I've finally found someone who has a similar style to me, thank you. It's so difficult to watch videos where out of the ten styles, you'd probably only wear one of them yourself and then it's still gives you that "meh" feeling. I also love how much emphasis you put in color combinations. I usually think in color when I go for an outfit. There is just something about a dark green combo with deep brown, or an écru or warm beige with a bordeaux or a light blue with a dark pink that gets me so excited! Also the silhouettes are so similar as to what I love. And then there is the epic concept of working with your own closet instead of buying new things over and over. Like no, it's not possible for the average person to order 3 boxes of clothing every week. I hit that subscribe button hard!
When hanging up my clothes, I have a lack of space and have to double up items at times. It makes for some very creative outfit suggestions... :) Beautifully done, Helen!
I LOVE the concept of restyling each season! Also love your style, most of my wardrobe reflects my younger days and I am trying to incorporate more classic pieces that I can wear year after year
Although I'm in an older age category, (I am approx. your same height/wt.) when your video popped up I watched and immediately subscribed ! Your styling of existing pieces is terrific, & timeless! Thank you! EDIT: I should add that I very much appreciate your statement of balancing classic and trendy pieces at ~12:20. This definitely helps wardrobes to go the distance !
Thank you and welcome! I love to create a balance between statement and classic, always something I keep in mind when putting outfits together. Glad this idea resonated with you as well :)
Thus a very helpful video. I am seriously trying to reduce my shopping addiction. I have more than enough clothes but when I watch CZcamsrs styling or recommending beautiful items, I feel like I have to buy them. Am really going to follow your tips here and recreate outfits from what I already own. Let’s see if I can resist shopping this Autumn winter 😜.
I 150% feel you. I’ve spent more than I’ve ever spent on wardrobe this year (whilst in lockdown, ironically) because I got more into fashion/style CZcamsrs. Need to stop accumulating and start matching/making the existing work - good luck to you!
You are my favourite fashion channel 🤍 Please make one video of how to style or combine accessories, I love how minimal you are with that, but makes a big change with the details 🖤
I love how you have photo evidence of your style evolution because of your job. It's fun to see what you used to wear and what you do now. And how you reuse these beautiful pieces(that are expensive so smart of you to try to be creative as opposed to buying new because that gets pricey with your taste!) I have photo evidence too. I take a picture of myself every morning after I get dressed and rate my outfit for the day. (And at the end of the day). It really helps me figure out what I really love to wear and what makes me uncomfortable. PS I saw Emma Hill wearing the striped Arket jumper you returned two videos ago ... snicker.. such a difference on a such a tall frame . It made me think of you!
I think because I do upload and share outfits, it's super easy to see when my style changes/evolves. Good job to you for taking the photo and rating, I can see that being a great way to figure out personal style. The striped knit looks fantastic on her, and on many bloggers I've seen :) But for me, I'm swimming in it hahah.
Such a great video concept! I’m working on building my wardrobe and looking for things that suit me. What would you say we be a good way to start if you have a small budget and looking for a capsule wardrobe & like non basic pieces - kind of like the blouses you like? I don’t really like plain things unless it’s a color.
Thank you :) If it was me, I would start with the pieces I would want to wear the most (at least once a week) as these will make the biggest difference to your style. So one blouse/ or top and one skirt/or trouser that can work to update your existing clothes. Then to build out from there. I definitely recommend doing it 1 piece at a time as sometimes you figure things out in the process about what you like/don't like. I honestly would love to do this for a separate video idea so will have a think and brainstorm :)
Awesome video again Helen 👌🏼 beautiful pieces too! Thanks for these tips, with our lockdowns there’s no excuse but to really be creative with our existing wardrobe.. will definitely try the change up of textures!
Thank you so much! and thank you for sticking with me despite my content not being aligned to our seasons. I hope you have some fun despite the lockdown and do some experimenting xx
Thanks so much for this video! It inspired me to experiment with different ways to wear my existing pieces - even if I’m not at the stage where my style has incrementally evolved and I need to adapt. You’re a star for talking us through how you do everything - appreciate the attention to detail and your critique. Needless to say I’ve acquired a few items based on your recommendations! 😚
Something I really struggle with is convincing myself to wear my clothes... I hate making things dirty and laundering nice items... always worried I am going to ruin them... so I wear the same leggings and tshirts everyday and never reach for any of my nice items...
Nice video, I realized in the past you were using lighter color shades, now darker colors, maybe you can show us updated outfits for autumn but in lighter shades, thanks!
I love to mix metals :) I think the key is to not just have one piece in a different colour and try to have 2-3 to tie things in. E.g. If everything was gold, and there was just one silver accent somewhere, it might (just might) look a bit out of place. Whereas if there were 2-3 silver bits mixed in with gold, it tends to look more cohesive. Or I would mix more than 2 colours e.g. silver, rose gold, gold, so it looks intentionally mixed. Thank you for watching xx
Thank you so much :) The beige bag is the celine nano belt bag in beige, and the boots are the Sezane sandy boots (though I wouldn't recommend the style as mine haven't held up great).
I was inspired by your style and ordered a long coat, but being 5’1.5” the coat nearly hits my ankle! Is that too long, and how long should a long coat be on a small frame?
Hi! I think it depends on how structured the coat is - something super structured and I think it might be a tad long, whereas something with a dropped shoulder that drapes more is softer will probably be fine. But mostly it’s on your preference and also what shoe you’ll be wearing 🥰
Like your video..love your tune..but I do think that your style is too mature for your age.. have fun and embrace colors into your life.. I do appreciate your wisdom in reusing what you've 🤍 TY that's wonderful to see
Isabel skirt would look better with a plain cap sleeve t shirt in the darker color of skirt .simple sandals in dark color of skirt. The skirt is a summer piece. Show off print .
My style has been evolving (devolving?) to a more classic one for the last few years. I have lots of nice classics now and will try to reduce my shopping from now on. This video is great for me.

I love this approach! We don't always have to buy something new in order to refresh our stlye.
Great video! Love RE-using and RE-inventing personal style, we have to do more of this instead of disposal fast fashion.
Thank you :) Love restyling, seems such a waste to think of only wearing an outfit once. There are always ideas/options to restyle :)
Well said, Malisa. :) (OH! And I really like the spelling of your name!)

Fab! After the initial few wears, it’s a different fun to play around with combinations and really discover everything that works with a piece.
It's something that I really enjoy doing and glad it's not just me :) Thank you xx

Love your videos. Especially ones that help me not buy anything new but just upgrade what i have
Thank you :) am working to create more balance on my channel and definitely want to share more on restyling/rewearing etc x
Great video! I love the idea of shopping your own wardrobe when your style changes. Thanks for the reminder.
The Celine belt bag is really nice. Classic and can be with all kinds of outfits.
Thanks Emily :)!
Love this! My style has been evolving too, and I'm constantly trying to use my old pieces in a new way.

Great video! I learned a lot about keeping everything simple and let one piece do the work when generating outfits.
Thank you :) I think this is one of the tips I learnt from the most as well in the last year x
Love this associations, I think differently what I wear after watching this video: thank you!

Love the format of this video ❤️ I feel my style has been changing/evolving towards more monochromatic recently. Really drawn to jewel tones
Thank you for watching! I think they would be great colours to easily mix in with monochrome outfits :)

Thank you so much :) x
Such a inspirational video Helen. Thank you for this content ❤
So glad :) thank you xx
I really like your corduroy pants and how you use the scarf with the skirt outfit!
Thank you for the great tips Helen, I learned a lot! The outfits are wonderful 💕 When do you think it is okay to mix metals (jewelry/hardware)?
I love to mix metals :) I think the key is to not just have one piece in a different colour and try to have 2-3 to tie things in. E.g. If everything was gold, and there was just one silver accent somewhere, it might (just might) look a bit out of place. Whereas if there were 2-3 silver bits mixed in with gold, it tends to look more cohesive. Or I would mix more than 2 colours e.g. silver, rose gold, gold, so it looks intentionally mixed. I love your videos!!..ur so pretty & classy..you made me buy arket trousers& stuff..you are my style inspiration..keep up the good work!!
That red bag needs a navy top, navy pants and a scarf with a touch of red.
This is a "how to make your outfits boring on the minimalist trend" video.
