    I love how you highlighted that there is a difference between having clothes that fit well and having clothes that fit the way people personally want it to. It's very respectful of preferences.

      @DailyHelenJ  Před 2 lety +17

      Thank you :)) I noticed in the comments a lot of disagreements about fit i.e. oversized versus classic, but at the end of the day, if it fits how we want, that's all that matters :)

    "No amount of logos or luxurious style will compare to the luxury we feel in quality fabrics and in being comfortable."
    *YASSSSS QUEEN, PREACH* so true. Not that I can afford any luxury items tho. T_T But comfort should really be #1 priority in my opinion. An outfit that "looks good" but is uncomfy will eventually make us not look good, especially since we would end up looking less confident, irritated, worried, burdened, sometimes even pained while trying to endure wearing such clothes.

    The part about the duplicates is really interesting. And I agree that a major factor to consider is lifestyle for sure. I have a thing for pretty skirts and dresses too but reach for shorts and trousers more in every day life as they often are more practical in my day to day life.

    I agree that a denim jacket is hard to style. I wore one regularly for my entire life until about 3 years ago, when I wore it out and didn’t replace it. I was able to get by with a bouclé cardigan and a short trench coat. Now, I’ve just purchased a vintage denim jacket for fall, but it’s an “interest” piece - fitted with a ruffled collar and a peplum. I have a few very plain, solid colour maxi skirts in heavy linen. They are mainly for church and can look a bit severe. I need to have a jacket that is casual but helps to lighten up the vibe :)

  • @MistyyLou
    @MistyyLou Před 2 lety +1

    Love the distinction between clothes that fit vs how you want them to fit! I have multiple tops that “fit,” but I end up not wearing them because I want more room in the underarms. If it doesn’t fit how I want it to I end up fussing with it nonstop or won’t wear it.

  • @smaragdinepearl5439
    @smaragdinepearl5439 Před 2 lety +7

    Great tips once again! Having competing pieces seems so basic, yet everyone (myself included) does this! It makes sense by logic, to get something you already own - obviously the basic/piece is subconsciously in mind as something that already works, so it's a matter of being more cognisant of what's already in the wardrobe. Also loving how you've stressed that in personal style, we can wear clothes differently to how they're pictured on the models!! Well-explained overall, thanks for this video!

    Hello there! This was such a great informative video! Although I’d quite like to kindly disagree with you at 8:30. For example I do own a white turtle neck. I’ve been wearing it so much lately that it’s been hard to keep up with the washing, since it’s been such a staple for me, I can’t go without it. Due to this I’ve now purchased a white long sleeve with somewhat of a lower neckline. Those two pieces will compete now but not in a bad way since now I’ll always have a white top to wear.
    As you clearly stated at the beginning: those are just what proved right for you. I’m stating this for everyone who might also find a piece of clothing they just absolutely adore.
    Sending much love and health in this tiring time!

    Really love this video, Helen ❤️ Buying wrong duplicates is something I do a lot and this makes it some many pieces being less used. I also love the point about wrong basics. I feel basics are very different for everyone depending on their lifestyle and style preference. For me, I love blazers but it gets less used in my wardrobe because I work in tech and blazers can look a little more formal

    I agree with "reaching for black bag". I always purchase black bags since black is the safest color but I don't reach out for black bags as much as I thought. Black bags I wear the most are those with some elements such as studs, quilting, or chain straps and bag charms.

Then when I find the exact thing I was looking for and buy it, I no longer reach for that original item, even if it is still a great item.

    I wear mostly dresses, but I find that simple, solid colored ones are much more versatile and less memorable. A floral print one with a lot of details will be noticed again, not so with a simple cream, white, black or navy one. They can also be changed into different looks easily with layers and accessories, and can be dressed way up or down. I just love the comfort of dresses and skirts.

    I’m 61, and my style and body have changed over the years. I’m not sure we can figure out the perfect personal style because it’s always evolving. Lifestyle, body, coloring (fading), etc., or just what we like best, keeps changing. I try to keep my clothes on the classic side now, so that I’m not always buying trendy items. I seem to wear longest the simple styles in natural fibers. I find that many prints, elaborate styles, unusual shapes and details (like statement collars) tend to date quickly. If I buy more than I use, it’s almost always because of a comfort problem, especially with footwear.

      I agree that the perfect personal style is not possible, as we are evolving day to day - our lifestyle and also our preference :) That being said, I think if we are flexible and restyle things, we can always make it work :) x

    I have a weakness for white blouses, I’m trying to stop buying new ones!

    I love your style and I think its because we like the same color palette and I also like things to be oversized. Pink however look so good on me as well as burgundy and maroon. Anyway, would love to see more style videos from you. Xoxo 💐

      Hi :) I go through their website - there’s a return area and I usually get a Auspost label to print. I then drop it off at any post office :)

    John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jesus loves you.
