    one more thing, that really helps, is properly fitting your clothes, either do it yourself with simple darts or elasticbands worked in on the inside, or safety pins or professionally at a shop. That can really make a huge difference.

      A lot of times tailors have discounts if you bring multiple items, they also have deals sometimes too! There is a seamstress near my house and she usually does a deal on pants. 5 pairs of pants for 30 dollars! She can make them shorter, make them fit tighter, make the waist smaller, and stuff like that. Most tailors are pretty affordable, unless you are getting an entire suit done. If you just want the calves in your pants a bit tighter, that is an easy and quick fix so it shouldn't cost too much. I wear size 4 womens skinny jeans and they are still baggy in my calves so I will be getting them done soon. I have very wide hips and muscular thighs because I work out often, I'm a guy so NOTHING in the mens section fits me, sadly the womens section doesn't fit well at all. My hips are almost 39 inches, my thighs are 21 inches, and my calves are only 13 inches. My calves are muscular, they are just small due to genetics. I'm a very lean guy and I was born with a pear shaped body. These hips never lie.. I just wish they made pants with slim calf options, then they would actually fit me perfectly.

      Yes! I’m a sewer and even take in my too-large t-shirts if I love them. What a difference in the way I feel not having them be baggy just because my body is not a “standard” size. The smallest things can make such a difference.

  • @kimberlyperrotis8962

    Your list of tips or guidelines almost exactly agrees with my own! I only wear natural fibers, plus the rayon/viscose family (the “manmade cellulosic fibers”). These fibers are very breathable, which is essential for us older women who overheat easily, and non-irritating, because they’re made of plant fibers, not plastic. I can’t even wear plastics like polyester in blends and plastic footwear, belts or bags are simply unthinkable. With the addition of this one tip to follow below, I think your guidelines will lead to a quality, tasteful and expensive look, low-budget or not. The additional tip is about fit: ignore size numbers/letters except as a starting point for trying on - there is absolutely no consistency in sizing anymore. Don’t wear clothes that are too small, the biggest style mistake I see US women make, or too large, either. Those horizontal creases across the body indicate that a garment is too small, and will only make the wearer look much heavier. I also would avoid Spandex, except in exercise clothes. Spandex makes clothes squeeze and cling, reduces breathability and cheapens the look. I just made the mistake of buying two Ralph Lauren, cotton with Spandex, knit dresses in my usual size medium without trying them on before I cut the tags off. They make my tummy and bust look much bigger than they are because of the squeezing and horizontal creases, I should have gone up at least one size! I checked the label, they have a huge 9% Spandex, yuck, no wonder. Brands love Spandex because it makes fabrics cheaper, but I should have been more careful, even Ralph Lauren has cheapened their fabric quality lately. Now I have relegated these to house dresses, it’s a shame.

    • @MademoiselleSpends
      @MademoiselleSpends  Před 3 měsíci +4

      Thank you for your kind words! I couldn't agree more with your point about fit! I also buy different sizes depending on how they fall on me. This is great inspiration for a future video on how to dress for different body shapes!
      I am sorry to hear about your RL experience, I was still under the impression that they were not trying to cut cost... Cutting costs in material quality really is a plague that touches so many brands!

I have seen logos on shirts, baseball caps, sports logos, unnatural hair color, and a whole lot of tattoos, even on ladies up in age. Things have changed there. I will say I didnt see so much athleticwear, and older women there are dressed much nicer than the older women here. Most wear dresses and subtle jewelry even to run around. I think it's the new generation that is changing.
