You say it's not engineering related but the working principle is very interesting. I proposed using peltier cells a few years ago for cooling electronics pods in subsea equipment. It was a good review and a nice surprise to get another mid week video.
Might be worth noting that there is a bimetallic strip on the base of these which is there so when the fan gets too hot, it lifts the base up so the surface area in contact with the stove is reduced.
Peltier elements work both ways : if you run current through them, they produce heat and cold. They’re the basis of most coolboxes, and all cool/heat boxes.
Not trying to burst your bubble John, I bought one from Aldi a couple of months ago, looked heavier than the bangood and was only £23. Worth a look out for when they come round again.
Funny I was just studying our stirling currently spinning on the radiator, I built a pulley take off that will either spin a small electric motor generator to light an LED or directly drive a small fan. Big problem is it's not silent, I could probably balance the mechanism better but I doubt we'd want it working while the telly box is on. Could be a nice little build project for a Sunday night
Well John, your a mechanic, machinist, fabricator, husband, father, grand father, cook, steam enthusiast, videographer, and a spokesman for Bangood, what is next? But then, you’re only as young as you feel!
There are only two important things in a successful marriage:
1. Making the wife happy.
2. Making the kid tired.
It's Amazing how many people are going back to "Pay as you go" heat, cannot fall off with free pallets and timber in Teeside.
Amazing little device. I have seen those peltier coolers used in computers but did not give it much thought as to other uses.
Good timing! The one I bought from Banggood arrived today.

If any of the Aldis here actually got any in...
I did say 'when they come round again'.......
If the local stores get any in. They didn't last time..
Neat bit of kit John.
...that's how those work? I'm a little disappointed that it didn't occur to me. I'm glad you showed us, and I hope Debs is pleased.
Whats the steam engine behind you in the workshop John ?
It's 28C here today and you're lighting a fire... ah English weather
-3C here yesterday morning.
I like it , Hope Deb does to .. ENJOYED !!
They work, but they are nowhere near as satisfying as the stirling engine powered ones from Kontax/Vulcan.

Awesome john
looks like you could do with 2 john :)
when an element is used for generation its called the seebeck effect. Seems silly the same object has 2 names depending on direction
That big open hearth fireplace makes me wonder how old is your place?
😎👍

the space station uses the same principle hot inside very cold in space.
Alid only £23
Happy Wife....Happy Life!
