Replacing a shovel handle Is it worth it? it is to me

Today I replace a shovel handle on a old shovel that used to belong to my Dad. He passed away a few weeks ago I saw this shovel when we cleaned out his house and shop. I decided to revive it by replacing the handle. Hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching Please subscribe

My four-year-old loves all things tool and machinery related. He heard you working on the rivets and asked me what you were doing. When I said you were replacing a shovel handle he said "He's putting metal on it, Mommy! With tools!" and I got to hear a very long exposition on tools, too. So your father's shovel has brought joy to one very small boy, too.

You’re money ahead there.
Today’s tools are throw away junk. Made from thinner, inferior metal.
I still have a trap that belonged to my father from when he and his brothers ran a trap line as young men. I also have a pliers and pocket knife that were on him when he passed away. I think of him often and thank him for my mechanical skills. Just picking up a tool that belonged to him brings back memories.

Not likely anyone making a good shovel head like that anymore. If got some of my dad’s and Gpa’s shovels. Nothing like them today. Hope their backs didn’t hurt as much as mine does 😜
