    For me, for an up close and personal handgun, a red dot is a needless expense.

    I was worried about their drop safe issue. But i found a local gun shop that would order a model from a distributor directly, hoping id get a newer model i got it ordered. Its came in, ive only put 100 rounds through it and its been amazing. Ran the serial number at the gun store of course and its not affected. Im thinking i got a newer batch. Love this gun.

      Good to hear that the newest ones are not affected, especially since Taurus recently expanded the list of affected serials. Thanks for watching!

    I replaced the front sight only on my GX4, GX4 T.O.R.O. and GX4XL T.O.R.O. with the Ameriglo Tritium sight from Taurus. I left the standard magazine base plate on my GX4, while both T.O.R.O. models have pinky extensions. I don't use the 13 round extended mags. With the standard 11-round magazine with pinky extension, the GX4XL is nearly identical in size to my Sig P365XL.

    If yours has the flush 11 round magazines like mine did, Taurus sells an upgrade kit for $10 which comes with a magazine extension and a new spring, which converts an 11 round magazine to an extended 13 round. Gives you the full grip and two more rounds.

      I have the 13 rounder as a second mag. I wanted something that would give me some pinky room while not adding any length to the backstrap, to keep it as concealable as possible for those that might be looking for that. Thanks for watching!

    One thing you have to do is not drop it apparently lol. Hopefully Taurus gets the drop safe fixed quick cuz I was really thinking of getting one.I love my G series guns and I have Caniks also I keep going back and forth between GX4 and MC9 maybe just get both?

      I did see that, and for what it's worth my serial was one of the ones affected. It's about to head to Taurus for the fix and I'll update you all when it gets back. Thanks for watching!

    I picked up an Ameriglo front site for $30 and a Lakeline ported barrel for $130 or thereabouts. Wish they would make more of those 13 round mags, getting kinda ridiculous how scarce they are...

      I bought a spare 11rd mag which is easier to find, then the $10 +2 extension and spring for one of my existing 11 rounders. Boom, 2 11rd mags and a 13.

    TruGlo sights are not what you want for the GX$ TORO for two reasons. 1. They do not cowitness properly. The regular sights are too low and the tall ones are just too tall and take two much realty on your optic sight lens. What you want is XS Big Dots for Glock 43 or Ameriglo GL-105 (green front for red optic) or GL-205 (red front for green optic dot). In any case, TruGlo sights suck long term and are just too small dots for these typo of close combat pocket guns. Ditched all my TruGlos for Ameriglo and XS Big Dots.

    • @realpracticaltactical
      @realpracticaltactical  Před rokem +1

      I chose those for the GX4 because offer a very very low cowitness (probably something like lower 1/8) which is what I think people want to see. I personally prefer all black sights front and rear that have an absolute cowitness, but I understand that's not a popular setup. Thanks for watching!

      @@realpracticaltactical Seems to me there is something I'm missing here. Anyway, GX4 TORO factory sights are too low for cowitness with any optical sight. Tall suppressor sights known to me are just too tall. I do know for a fact that the Glock 43 XS Big Dot sights and the Ameriglo 105 and 205 work just right with the GX4 TORO.
      Folks have to understand that the GX4 TORO has the optical sight cut already on the slide. That´s why it is a TORO. Therefore, regula sights like the factory sights are too small. So we want to go taller for cowitness. However, tall suppressor sights for a Glock 43 will be too tall for the GX4 TORO blocking the view of the lens. It is so because the mini optical sights that fit the GX4 TORO are smaller and sit lower than regular optical sights in other guns. Beats me why TAURUS did not supply the GX4 TORO with taller sights, because the factory ones just don't cowitness. Some sights like the ones I mentioned above for the Glock 43 are taller than the GX4 TORO factory sights, but lower than tall suppressor sights. Thus they fit the GX4 TORO just right for cowitness.
      I do not know how tall are the tall sights you installed. Maybe they cowitness properly, maybe not. I just have to take your word on it. Regardeless, by my long term experience of many decades time ago I concluded that the many TruGlo sights I have previously used did not last nor performed satisfactory. Personally I have replaced all my TruGlo sights for XS Big Dots, except on the GX4 Toro which has the Ameriglo 205 for the HOLOSUN green dot sight. Ameriglo specifically recommended the GL 105 and GL 205 for the GX4 TORO. and they work just right. That said, I agree with you that the factory sights must be replaced for the GX4 TORO fitted with an optical sight.
      Agree as well that the factory pinky extension is a good idea. I however, choose the 13 rds extended magazine, but do keep on 11 rds mag with the pinky estension just in case better concealment is necessary.
      I have not had any issues with the GX4 TORO. Good luck and best wishes with your TruGlo.
