Currently working on this 2008 Yaris diesel which has thrown the above faults. this video is to show how the throttle body flap is functioning with the code on. It looks ok, so also cleaned the ERG and MAF. Looking for advice and will update if it i have the answer's.

So after fitting in another throttle body the car has now come back to life. When i fitted in the used throttle body from a local breaker i tested it like in the video. The only difference was the light noise when the flap closed on the old one compared to the one i fitted after. At that point i was hmmmmm is this going to work... it cleary did. But anyway it was the Throttle body. Hope this helps anyone else with this issue.

Is it a bad egr valve or throttle body? My car has p0488 and it jerks in first gear and at high speeds sometimes. Unplugging both egr sensors solves the issue but throws the car into limp mode. Im considering cleaning the egr and if that doesnt work then ill delete the egr from the ecu.

Was a bad TB, my car would get to a certain speed/rev and not pick up speed.. very sluggish and occasionally jerk mildly. I change the TB and it was all good. The codes didn't point to EGR.. but it wasn't the EGR.

Do I need to remove the EGR to access the throttle body?

I honestly can't remember now.. I think I only removed a rubber hose to access the TB

@@maj6150 cheers. May as well remove the EGR and give it a clean as I'm working around there.

Never a bad idea to remove the EGR and give it a good clean.. I use oven cleaner (foam)with very warm (not boiling) water and let it rest for 10mins and then clean it with a wire and toothbrush.
