Motolug Motorcycle Trailer Review
Vložit
- čas přidán 25. 05. 2015
- Here's my initial review of the Motolug Motorcycle Trailer, a clever folding trailer ideal for transporting your motorcycle without actually riding it (yes, there are times when that needs to be done!)....
This is honestly a great bit of kit. Much easier to assemble than you'd think and, after a couple of goes loading the bike, you'll be more than familiar with getting it on and off.
Forget about having a fixed trailer taking up space in your garage/driveway - this thing loads onto a couple of decent sized shelves.
It's unusual, from my experience, to see such a nice chap driving such a nice car ;-) Keep up the good work!
Just towed this trailer 700miles with a big twin harley ,absolutely brilliant bit of kit , your video was very helpful 👍🏻
Cool!
steffydog1 To be honest I've yet to use it (plans too later this month) so don't have anything further to add to the review - there is no doubt it is expensive so I agree with you on that front....I went for the smaller wheels, don't really see much advantage of the larger ones. The team at motolug are very helpful, I would buy again. Cheers for the kind comments - TMF
Good review! I have the double motolug (can be assembled as either a double or single). I actually always tie mine down before lowering the front, and I load it without the numberplate and lights attached (i put them to one side). Makes life a bit easier
TMF, I spoke to Julia this morning and as you say they are very helpful indeed. After her advice I decided to order the 8" wheels as most people do according to her. The trailer height only varies very little if you chose the 10" wheels. My concern was mainly that the trailer wasn't going to be level due to my towing ball height, but as you say balls are at standard range height and sure Motolug manufactures their trailers to comply with Standards.
The other thing that I was thinking of is that trailer wheels are often smaller than car wheels, this condition make the trailer wheels to make more turns than the cars' do (trailer wheels will spin faster than the cars'), so I was just trying to reduce this condition by choosing a larger wheel (i.e. 10" wheel).
I asked Julia what wheel size she mostly sold and her answer was a convinced 8".
My trailer should be shipped tomorrow and I reckon I will have it delivered in Spain by early next week.
Thanks for your helpful comments. I decided to go for the Motolug after watching your video and after receiving prompt replies to my emails I sent to Julia (about 15 emails asking various details of the Motolug). No doubt this will be another great English product.
Cheers,
Daniel
Daniel Ramirez Araujo Nice one Dan - hope it lives up to expectations (I'm yet to use mine!)
Front wheel chock is a little loose. Move the clamps closer together, it'll hold the front tyre much tighter. Use a strap at each side : from the frame or foot peg to the trailer axle. My bike is rock solid and doesn't move at all.
+ijw 76 This was recorded some time ago and I've since refined my method, agree with all your points - cheers for stopping by - TMF
TMF, any chance of doing an updated vid, encompassing all the points discussed/learned since the original, to include both loading and unloading. Please also include the trailer type, wheel size and bike(s) used for testing. Using a combination of adventure, sports and touring bikes would be a good combo. It would also be good to know how your original trailer is working now, for example have pins worn or need to be replaced. Another good test would be to use a smaller vehicle, as long as it meets the towing weight requirements. I do not know where you are located, but happy to be involved in testing.
Err maybe, sounds like quite a lot of work that one!! ;o)
Came here from your recent bid you posted today! Thanks a million. Will get one of these 100%
The are great - mention my name and maybe you'll get a discount!
I have the same Trailer for two years now and i would do 3 Things different when I load a Bike allone:
1. I would remove the Part with the Licence Plate from the Trailer, it is just two Pins, and you can not fall over it when loading the Bike.
2. I would not Use the Engine to put it on the Trailer, it also possible to Push it at least with my Bike which has 220 kg.
3. I would Strap the Bike down BEFORE I make the Trailer Level again, that is just safer......
Good tips...except the second one 🤓
Love the vintage TMF intro!
I do not use the saddle to tighten the bike. Feels a bit crazy to fix it there. Rear seatpeg or subframe is much better. It pulls down the spring as well for a rock solid ride.
steffydog1 .....no, per my other comment, not used it yet. Dees pack away reasonably small, but will fill your boot. Can leave part assembled and very easy to construct (no tools required).....
Better sound quality than some of MCN's videos
Thanks. That's a well shot info video. I saw the motolug demo'd on TV a while back but you did it better TMF. I'm really enjoying your 250 green lane vlogs!
ImaginaryGarage That's very kind of you to say so - thank you....TMF
Good vid. Me and my bro discussed trailers, and we concluded that for bikes, what was needed was a version that lay FLAT on the ground, so you only ride along, can put your feet down etc, without the dreaded 'in the air' situation going on, especially ramping up. Yes, can do it riding off the bike - I find that tricky, I wait just slipping my hand off the clutch and making TWO insurance claims, one for bike, one for car! Basically, the front mechanism would be the same but would DROP not raise, and once the bike was rolled on - no engine even needed so 'broken' bikes could use it too - the issue is how to crank the wheels down. What makes the most sense, is to be able to utilise a standard car jack or something. Anyway, that would be the perfect solution as it were? This is good though, until someone makes the 'flat-to-the-floor' idea a reality.
+sleekitwan Having used the motolug a lot over the last month I have found it to be an excellent little trailer, but I completely get your point.....maybe there's a world beating invention in there somewhere????? Thanks for watching and commenting - All the best - TMF
Hi, have you used the Motolug for an Adv style bike? I’m thinking on getting one for my GS (same model as yours), what would you suggest to be safe points to strap the bike down? Thanks
I haven't no but I know people who do....
Thanks for the great video , I've just bought the exact trailer , and , in fact , for pretty much the same bike ! You have taken away ( some ) of my anxiety ! My driveway and the road are sloped so I'm guessing loading " downhill " is the way to do it ? Has anyone tried the " lay it flat then jack it up method " ? It's going to be scary either way , just like the first few times you use a paddock stand! I bought it primarily for track days , riding hours to a track is no fun , riding back is worse !!! Would love an unloading video/ update on strap location ...I bought the rachet strap kit from Motolug ,I think that is 4 straps, interested to see if that is enough in your opinion. Keep up the excellent work ! Cheers
Any recommendations for a hitch lock that secures the Motolug while towing / stopped at a service station?
Good point....Fraid not! I sometimes lock the trailer to the car using my bike lock if I’m parked up (there’s a handy hole on my tow bar mount)....
Bought one now, and used it, many thanks, a happy biker here.
Great stuff, I've used mine for a thousand mile round trip to Scotland now, works a treat....great little trailer (but expensive) - glad to have been of service!
I also missed this vlog earlier, and would like to know how things are going with this handy looking bit of kit. My humble apologies if I have missed the follow-up as well as the original!
It's great - used it to take the bike up to Scotland (twice) as well as more locally - does what it says on the tin - recommended!
I must say you're my favourite motovlog you tuber.
Keep up the good work, and more videos please.
Abdinasir Mohamed Thank you sir I am honoured!
Great review :) thanks for the upload. Now to look at the cost lol.
Thanks for that.....cost I'm afraid, is the downside (£700)
You made a top quality presentation! In addition, you can lower the gain on your fine, intro, theme song please. Go double system. Instead of connecting your lavalier 15 feet away to your camera's input, use something like a Zoom H1 recorder in your back pocket. Obviously, you do post work. Sync the two audio tracks in post. Keep the lavalier. In general, your audio is clear, strong and well done.
If you were really worried about loading the bike solo, could you assemble everything but the wheels and load the bike on flat ground (with a tire jack already underneath the trailer frame) and then-once securely strapped down of course-jack the trailer up and attach the wheels? I’m not planning on doing this, don’t have one either, but just thought of it for people who are nervous about loading the bike when attached to the car or truck.
True.....
There is another video where a guy uses a 2x6 that looks about 18" long with grip tape. He inserts it under the gap where the motolug ends and looks to make it less of an incline.
excellent review, thinking of getting a 2 bike version for me and my Son. Never used a trailer before so will look at Motolug. Do you use the same anchoring positions for the straps, as I guess you've used it a few times now
Trawling the Tmf archives for this - still a fan of this trailer? Want to get into trail riding and this looks ideal.
Yes - good bit of kit still going strong!
What is the horizontal piece that sticks out on either side of the front wheel used for? It didnt look like it was used to strap the front end of the bike to. Thanks.
I have no idea!
Nice and clear demonstration - many thanks for this review.
You’re welcome - TMF
Skipped this when I first subbed and was catching up on your vlogs. Find myself needing a trailer as I nearly dropped my bike putting it in the back of my van. Googled Motolug SE and who should pop up? lol. Great review as always.
+Kevin Taylor Wow I must be ranking on Google for this - coolio. If only Motolug knew! :0(
Subs are rocketing. There's a cool American one called the Stinger trailer in a bag but it's $1500. Can't really justify spending £750 for the Motolug (plus £550 for removable tow bar), so the Stinger is way out of my price range unfortunately. You should check it out.
Is it safe to have the tongue at a negative angle? Seems like your hitch may be too high. I think the tongue is too short probably will weave at high speeds and a pita to back up.
I’ve not had any issues....
just set up a motorhome for touring and want to take bike with me so looking for options on trailers. another great video bud ta Tony
Yes this would be perfect for that (something that has crossed my mind too!).....
@@TheMissendenFlyer if you fancy a run up to the Scottish borders some time il show you van which was a builders white van (ouch ) but now a registered motorhome. offering a base to do NC 500 etc or abroad. The electrics been finished off next week hopefully, we run a gallery and self catering accomadation so another way of helping you out could be free accomadation for a visit. we will talk more in the future bud. ride safe. if you check out our instagram you may see where good real solid people. best T
Was looking at one of the these to replace my Kilponoff trailer for the storage solution it offers. The only downside I can see is loading if the bike doesn't start when you're on your own. Looks good otherwise.
Probably good to get your bike to the track but I would worry about dropping the bike at some point when loading or unloading particularly early in the morning, in the rain or when knackered after a ride.
Would also be concerned with tripping over the trailer.
Wonder if it can deal with a big pothole or a dirt road?
I would definitely secure the front wheel.
Some clever ideas in the mix .
I bought this primarily for transporting my dirtbike and it's been great for that...and yes, I have learned now how to strap the bike down, the key thing to my mind are proper handlebar loops either side, then the bike is rock solid on the trailer. Thanks for watching....TMF
"proper handlebar loops either side"
Can you explain in more detail, or do you have a video showing this? Also, do you still have this trailer? Any follow up review? Thanks!
Hi TMF.. I am just curious how the motolug traileris withstanding the test of time? Have you still got it? Searching for a trailer and this seems like a perfect option.. Thanks, I couldn't believe I searched motolug, an who did I come across ('',)
Yep still got it - thoroughly recommended
Cool vid, as always. I just strap my bike down in the back of my T5 but watched anyway. lol
+Vine Fair enough!
Like the design of it... need a trailer for my bike i have a ducati 848, is this trailer long enough for sport bikes? Taking my Bike to Austria end of October is this trailer safe enough to pull it all the way there? How much arw they? I also been told any trailers i buy has to meet EU crappy laws, whatever that is, think more to do with trailers heaving weight/ stamps or something, i tried to google some info and prep myself before i leave i just can’t find any info whatsoever.. any advice or help from any of you much appreciated 👍
This would be fine for the 848 and long distance - cost was around £400 iirc...
This is an old video now, but I'm looking for a trailer I wonder how your BMW 1200 GS loads and fits on this one......is it ok?
It is supposed to be able to take a GS but I've personally never managed to get mine on single handedly (mainly due to arthritic shoulders) - if you're young, tall and fit you should be fine..
I am looking to pull my bike through the mountains in Colorado. Will this be a smart choice?
Don’t see why not!
I currently live in the UK and have a VW Passat, i also have a BMW S1000RR 15. Im looking to go Turkey in the car and tow the bike long. Its 2300+ miles one way so 4600+ total trip miles. I want to buy one of these trailers purely because it is compact do you think its up for the job? Thank you
Yes definitely - I towed my bike from North Scotland in one go - no issues at all...recommended!
Useful review.I am considering a Motolug to tow a light-ish Bandit 650 to Spain and back each year. I haven't the space for a normal bike trailer either at home or in Spain so this seems the answer. From the comments below it appears that it will cope with long trips which is my main concern. Thanks for a good review! :)
Yeah, I used mine to take my bike to Northern Scotland and back - no issues at all!
Did you buy it and take your bike to Spain and back ? that’s what i’m planning on doing next year.
@@toddy505 in the end I boight a Phoenix folding trailer which I used for a few years taking a GS to Spain.
Nice piece of kit, especially the fact that you can dismantle it for storage
harleyman5521 Yep - and it'll carry a Harley ;0)
Or ‘re disassemble it ‘ as he says ! Lol
Good vid!(as usual!)
Looks like a good piece.of kit...
One question..
Would it be ok to be pulled by any car?
(Only have small hatchback)
So it would be down to axle weights etc..?
Ayde Jukes Cheers Ayde - yeah no problem, the trailer is physically small and only weighs in at around 70KG so I can't think of a car that wouldn't be able to manage it.....
Great review. I’d like to get one. Did you purchase directly from the website? U.S version of site doesn’t give option to purchase.
Direct from website
I have just watched another blog and it said you can put the lighting board/metal bit thingy me bob on after you load the bike so you dont have to step over it
Very true...
Every time I watch a TMF video I want to spend some money!!
The Crumble Oops! Sorry about that (can't take it with you though can you?!)
Hiya, TMF, hope your well? I just wondered if you'd used it yet? And how's small does it pack away? Can I leave it semi assembled? Is it fiddly, your video looks like a few pins and clips, job done!? Is it that simple, £700 seems a big chunk of cash to be used 3-4 times a year. Many thanks.
£700 was a bargain, i think it’s a grand now.
So when the bike goes up the trailer the front wheel gets gripped and that is all that holds it before strapping the bike down ? Looks a great bit of kit ! $$££??
+Glen whyte Correct - I think it was around £700 IIRC.....expensive I thought.
TheMissendenFlyer Thanks for the reply.. 700 is more than I thought it would be but it does look well made and thought out.
I may be wrong on the price - best check their website (there are various versions) - it is good though.....
Considering getting one of these but that loading looks terrifying. Do you have a video of unloading anywhere?
...well that was my first ever attempt - it's got easier now I've done it a few times (and to be fair it's better as a 2 man job)...no unloading video I'm afraid, same process in reverse though ;0)
Maybe I'll borrow a bike to practise with. Don't want to drop my new one :-D
I got round it by leaving the light fixtures off initially; they get in the way a bit. Then I took the bike's seat off so I could sit on it / straddle it and drive it up the ramp with both feet on the floor. That may only work if you have long legs. In addition or instead of taking the seat off, you could use two planks of wood either side but when unloading you have to give it a fair pull on the bars to get it back over the front wheel chock so the planks may slip when you do that.
A very well done video. I'd love to have a good small motorcycle trailer. I just don't trust them. I use a 16' dove tail, with ramp, now and it's big and cumbersome. It would be nice to have something like the bike trailer that UHaul has. So much easier to have a small trailer that I can run at interstate speeds not thinking I have to stop every 20 miles to check the straps and the trailer.
I notice you drive the same model range rover as myself. Did you go for the standard 8" wheels or the "10 ones to get the ride height correct?
I just had the standard 8" IIRC - not an issue....do you have the OEM towbar?
after a few miles re tighten straps,
good video, I think I'll buy one
+interloperopp Yes good point, I always stop after a mile or two and check all is still well. A good little trailer if a bit on the pricey side for what it is....
What's your verdict after 5 years Andy? Thinking of selling my Erde through lack of space for one of these, to use for my Panigale V4 and 1250 GSA. Thanks
Still the same - good bit of kit if pricey for what it is....
Hi, I am about to purchase one of these but unsure if trailer wheels should be 8 or 10 inches. Can you tell us if the trailer you tested had 8 or 10 inches wheels?
Also, can you tell us your range rover ball height. Floor to center of ball. Cheers,
Dan
Daniel Ramirez Araujo I went for the 8inch wheels but the people at Motolug are very helpful if you give them a call, they'll tell you which you need (I'm not sure on the advantage of the bigger wheels to be honest). My tow ball is currently detached so can't give you the height (plus of course it also depends on what height you run the suspension at) - tow balls are at standard height ranges though so you shouldn't have any issues....worth calling Motolug for advice - all the best - TMF
is your hitch at the right height? Looks a bit tall in the vid. Might make a smoother ride.
Nice review, Only thing missing for me is the exact model of trailer. Was it a SE, SE+ or HDE?
Oops sorry rog5150 - it's the basic model, the SE....cheers - TMF
Having a bit of a TMF morning, you may have noticed! I've been a sub for a while but never really watched many of your vids, they're all nicely done. Also, judging by this video, your dad seems to be doing well for himself ;)
+Tris Desnos Lucky you - I'd love to have a TMF morning :0) Just joking, glad you like the vids and thanks for stopping by to say so, all the best - TMF
Mr Flyer, have u used or would you recommend this trailer for longer distance as well? +500 miles
Yes - I’ve pulled it to northern Scotland and back no issues….
@@TheMissendenFlyer Many thanks for the blazin fast reply, much appreciated! The price allmost doubled since this review, but I guess then it still does worth the investment. Cheers
must say that triumph is one sharp bike and sounds nice.
Thank you!
That does look well made and the ability to load a bike on your own is great. Would it haul the GS?
crotchrocket Sure does, infact the makers claim it'll take a fully loaded Honda Goldwing!
Another great vid!!! Curious to know how she does with your heavier bikes.....im looking for something to carry my k1600b
I've only ever used it for my Street Triple and CRF 250L but apparranty it's good for my GS - not sure about the K1600 though...
I agree about the KTM not my choice of bike for a full time bike, all the reviews rave about them off road but I feel the Big Girl (R1200 GSA) wins hands down every time when it comes to comfortable long haul in any conditions...(plus it doesn't have a dasterdly chain !)
By the by do you have any additional accessories on the beema? I had to hardwire a compressor access to the battery as the dash port is connected to the computer which doesn't allow anything more than 5 amps output.
I was thinking of installing a can bus for other things ....another review maybe?
keep up the reviews
BH
Black Hawk Glad you agree....don't think I have anything additional on the BMW I've not already featured - bar things like an iPhone holder and accessory socket lead...will do - stay tuned! All the best - TMF
Trailer seems very good and easy to use but more importantly WOW what a great car. Not sure what you do for a job but well done you for such an awesome car.
Can you do a review of it for me please?
Cheers
JJ
+The33JAYJAY You'll be wanting me to review my aeroplane next!! :0)
Great review. Would be good to see a follow up after further use. I recently saw a review for an Ace fold up trailer that completely trashed my interest for it. It comes down to build quality I guess. Going to look into this trailer on Google now. Thanks for the video!
+GoProChicken Cheers GoProChicken - good idea about the follow up review, I have now used the trailer, towing well over a thousand miles, and I have only praise for it - good bit of kit! All the best - TMF
+TheMissendenFlyer Well. That's all I need to hear. Another item on my shopping list! lol. Thanks for the reply. :)
+GoProChicken No worries....I hope I haven't over sold it now!!!
OK, I've got a question for you. It didn't seem too much hassle getting it on the trailer, but how do you get it off the trailer? Any chance of another clip showing that?
Well it's just the reverse of wheeling it on - if anything it's easier because you don't have to "ride" the bike off using the engine (just need to cover the brake)......
What about the wheel chock though? Doesn't that stop the bike from going backwards?
It does as far as when towing (horizontal trailer) is concerned, but when removing the bike with it tipped back a decent yank defeats the mechanism....no issue...
Thanks :-)
great video///
Would presume it is quite easy to roll on/off by the little effort it has taken you?
Considering i have dropped my bike whilst just pushing it out the garage!!!!!
Yeah it's easy-ish....defo better if you have someone to help steady on the other side, wouldn't want to roll the GS up on my own....
Surprised by your choice of trailer. Had expected to see you with an airtrailer.
I shall have to google that!
It's too bad it has a straight axle. If it had a drop axle (or wheel mounts like a 'single sidded swing arm'), it would be a few inches lower & way easier to load.
One of my bikes weighs 724 lb. I don't think I'd want to try to drive it up that ramp like you did.... course I'm 63 now lol.
Nice video 👍
Can you please do 5 year review of this trailer if you still have it please. General wear any rusting have bearings held up mileage. Thank you 👍🏽
Yes I still have it - kept outside and still holding up well! Not huge mileage though - around 2000 is my guess...
H2 z the darn thing is not in-stock anymore :(
That is brilliant and a good review, i am in the market for one to go on the back of my camper van, i wonder if i can get a double bike one or even a treble one ?
You can indeed!
Great review. Looking for one for my RT. Does your GS fit/tow ok on it? Got a photo of GS on it you could share?
Yes it works with the GS though I’ve never tried it...
That trailer looks like a great design but I got the feeling it felt a little bit lightweight compared to say a heavier “permanent” style trailer (that would then admittedly need a space somewhere to always be parked….) 🤔
I've used it to tow up to Scotalnd and back no issues....will be using it next year to tow a bike to the Alps....
Contacted the company to ship to USA, have yet to hear back. Do they sell any in USA?
I have no idea...
I use mine to trailer my bike to Belgium a lot and it's super stable. You do need to use straps and you do need to strap each handlebar as well as the strap across the middle. It will always look a bit shaky but that's just the nature of trailers. My bikes have always remained secure without issues. I've had it up to silly speeds too, not intentionally, I just forgot the trailer was there, and no problems to report. It's biggest strength is clearly the fact it can be taken apart and shoved in the boot :-)
+markmywords312 Yes agreed, having used mine for hundreds of miles now I would concur that handlebar straps are a must - she does wobble around a little but no issue and I've not lost a bike yet! :0)
I love my L322 Range Rover and was looking at that more than the trailer 😆.
Have you ever used the trailer since?
Yes - I dragged my old Honda CRF to Scotland and back with it, to Salisbury plain (behind my later L322)….I’ve since “sold it” to Richy Vida….
@@TheMissendenFlyer it looked a great bit of kit 👍🏻 (as are L322 RR’s)
Hi Andy, I have just watched your video on the motolug se. I thought it was a really good video and am very interested in one for my motorcycle. Can I ask where you purchased it. The reason I am asking is the I have seen them for sale on marketplace for £80. Payable on PayPal. Is this safe.
Your guess is as good as mine! I bought mine direct from the manufacturer….
No it isn't - almost certainly a scam. There are a couple of them advertised on Facebook for £79 . Try asking to view it and they will fob you off with an excuse about not being available and they will "send it to you by courier and your money is completely safe". View it (if it exists), pay cash and take it away with you.
To answer my own question they do a double bike one !! Yippee
Hi. Thanks for all the vids. Enjoyable and useful. We pretty much share a stable! 12 plate R1200GS (last of the air cooled Triple Blacks - my 15th GS to date! I'm a pre-Ewan & Charlie GS-er. They weren't always every-bloody-where!); 15 plate STriple RX (I previously owned the same model you have); and on Good Friday I bought a 14 plate CRF250L with 350 miles on the clock. And although I've lived in NW Cumbria since '78, I was previously up the hill from you in Prestwood. ENOUGH WITH THE COINCIDENCES ALREADY!
I hope you won't mind me making one negative comment on your otherwise excellent Motolug vid. NEVER strap over the seat - the bike can move from side to side under the strap. It's a bad move! A strap on each fork clamp (NOT the handlebars) and one on each side of the frame is best. Soft loops avoid damage by harsh webbing material too. Anything that passes through or over any part of the bike from one side of the trailer to the other is an absolute no no. Believe me, there is a hard way to learn this lesson and you don't want it to happen to you!
I watched your vid because I was considering a Motolug for trailing the CRF as B.O.A.T.S. are scarce up here and road miles painful and tedious. I wanted to see how you fair loading on your own with the skinny 21 incher on that thumper. Please advise/demonstrate. Cheers and keep up the great work. Motonig
+motonig dot com loving the coincidences! Yes you are right about the trailer straps - that video was the first time I ever tried to lash down a bike and I wasn't happy with it - when I took the CRF to Scotland I had twigged that over the seat was a no no and bought some specific loops to strap around each side of the handlebars - worked a treat! Thanks for the other tips - will keep em in mind for next time....enjoy the CRF and thanks for stopping by - all the best - TMF

+TheMissendenFlyer. So the Motolug wheel clamp got hold of the CRF front hoop OK yes? Was loading the CRF viable as a solo effort? If so I'd love to see one of your videos demonstrating that trick.
By the way - strongly recommend the Striple for your first track days. I've done loads on mine and they're great for the job - Check out the Donington and Oulton vids on my You Tube channel for proof. Street Triples Rule! Save that Panigale for when the confidence builds. Just a suggestion :)
+motonig dot com yep CRF fits fine and I only ever load solo. I have ridden the STR on track before - so time to move on to something a little more grown up ;0) All the best - TMF
+TheMissendenFlyer Ah, I wrongly got the impression you were a track day virgin. Go cane that Panigale!!!
Wow. That’s an old one Andy. I’m looking for a trailer. Ideally for two bikes, as I have a few, bit like yourself, but mostly 60’s to 80’s Japanese classics, including a first year (1975) .Goldwing, but also a Foggy replica 916SPS, so I need “safe” and “secure” in spades really. Have you come across any better solutions since this vid?. That is a cracking trailer anyway, (but your nervousness about the bike movement would stop me sleeping 😊.. There must be some good options these days - but I haven’t really found the “perfect” solution to be honest. Any hints ?. Cheers mate.
This one is still going strong no issues...and I've towed a bike all the way to Scotland and back no issues....
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thanks Andy. After seeing your vid, I went on their site, and noticed they do make a two bike version - which is probably the way to go for me. The portability is superb for storage too. Thanks again mate

+TheMissendenFlyer
many thanks for fast reply
towbar ordered tomorrow then trailer
they are comfy rr
far superior to a tractor
thanks for reply plus the vidio
its helped me make my mind up
+interloperopp No problem - glad you found the video of use (and yes joking about the RR, a fantastic vehicle).....
I like the foldaway design of this trailer, mainly as I would use it as a rescue trailer if my son or one of his friends broke down. It would be great if the same company made a bolt on temporary towing bracket that could be attached occasionally to a saloon car for instance…….? Does anyone make those? 🤔
Not that I know of...
Handy little bit of kit, try strapping the GS down by yourself though, stilts maybe required :-)
moody Indeed, the little CRF is relatively easy, the STripleR was a little trickier....defo a two man job if I attempt the GS!
Good video but I think you'd be better leaving the tail light assembly off until you have loaded the bike.
Fair enough...
Love watching your videos so i was glad to see you had one on this trailer, im thinking of getting one for trackdays. I appreciate you might not get back to this comment but 6 years on would you still reccomend it? Keep up the good work!
Yes I would still recomend Jack - this trailer has come in useful over the years and still going strong!
@@TheMissendenFlyer great! Thanks for getting back to me
No problem!
How about strapping the front forks down??
Found it. So this is how the Crf moves. Nice bit of kit....
Indeed!
You're brave loading a bike on a trailer on 'live' TV! Have you seen all the CZcams fail videos of people trying to do this ;-)
Another enjoyable video :-)
DervMan Hi again DervMan - I haven't seen those, but I can fully imagine they exist (will now go and check 'em out) - Thanks for the kind comments as ever!
im wondering if you used that when you did the norfolk loop,
notAngryandy Nope, haven't used it in anger yet, but I have plans! I bought it mainly to shift my dirt bike around, the whole point of the big Beemer is it's nice to ride on long journeys, so I doubt she'll ever be loaded onto the motolug!
Another Rangey owner, too! Mine's a little older, but...
I'm a huge fan of these beasts, nothing better for long drives.....
Can you do an updated review of the motolug please?
Nothing more to add, still love it - no issues.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer How easy is it to get the bike off?
Good review. Have you tried the GS on it yet?
+john greenaway I haven't as it happens but I'd have no problem using it for the big BMW...thanks for the kind words - TMF
Nice one. What's the price? 👍
Excelente Video, thank you :)
Cheerio mate
So what's it like to take the bike off? Would be worried about dropping it as I stepped over the trailer axles
Haven't had an issue....
Do you still use this one mr Flyer?
Yep
is unloading harder or easier?
I'd say about the same...
Is this the Motolug se version?
IIRC this is just the standard trailer, not the SE (it's not the one you can adapt for 2 bikes)......
Did u leave it in neutral?
Can't honestly remember, but would make sense to leave in gear on the trailer I guess (and maybe bungee the front brake on to be super secure).....
Getting a bit pro at these videos :)
Tiger Jim Thanks TJ, glad you think so :0)
How much does it cost in USD
No idea
