  • The Hisense PX1 Pro Ultra Short Throw Laser TV can fit a 90" - 130" screen but getting there wasn't as cut and dry as I thought. See how you install and set up the Hisense Laser Tri-Croma UST.

    For my setup, I found a short cabinet with three drawers. I mounted the cabinet to the wall and then took out middle drawer and replaced with 3/4" thick hardwood. The slides just screwed in, then put drawer face to hard wood with small 'L' brackets. This slides out when I am using the Projector and then when done, it slides back in and doesn't stick out into the room. You can't use the original drawer as the sides block the cooling of the unit.

    I've owned the PX1 Pro for about three months now and I love it. Only thing I don't like is how hard it is to do a center channel speaker with it. I'm not using a center channel at the moment, but I'm going to build a wall bump out that the center channel will recess into with a shelf that slides for the projector.

    • @icanfartloud

    Also I just got to the portal of the brackets. I tell you what's good. Is collapsible brackets where you pull the lever and they fold down? It's great for making a hold-up desk or in your case a fold-up shelf. That way in case you wanted to put a TV stand back you can just fold them down and leave it behind it.

  • @visionsoundelectronics9615

    I really like your videos I watch them all the time I had a question would you be able to review a Epson ls300 the budget short throw projector and give me your take on it I was definitely interested and it says it has good reviews for the price because you review two short throw projectors already so you have something to compare it to I definitely will appreciate it keep up the good work your content is a lot better than other people I like how you go through and show the pictures and explain and compare some to other models that you instead of just giving a look on that exact item which doesn't help at all so that's why I watch your content all the time keep it up

    So when I had my Screen installed by the ISF installer that I bought the projector and screen from the first thing we determined was my eye height and optimum viewing then we installed the screen so that my eye sight level sitting fell at the centerline on the screen, this would be one of those things about preference in a theater? do you like looking up, looking at or looking down at the screen?
    Mine is an old Standard throw but these ultra short throw units I would definitely install the Unit above the screen as the reflection off the case would be less distracting overhead than sitting on a table plus it frees up space for speakers in wall or not or play area and out of range for pets or kids messing with it plus one less thing to become a Clutter catcher imo.

  • @TriMuXx
    @TriMuXx Před rokem +2

    Best part of a projector setup vs a TV setup.....you don't have to be sitting dead center in front of the screen to see the whole image. If you're off to the right or left of a flat panel TV, you get attacked by glare and end up not being able to see what is on screen....so you end up running around the couch or leaning over to the middle of the couch just to fully see what's going on.
    Glare is a regular issue that Flat Panel TV reviewers seem to ignore because they turn the lights off or dim....if I'm turning the lights off or dimming them for a TV....then may as well get a projector for the same environment IMO.
    Glad he finally reviewed the PX1-Pro, but this one is better suited for out in the living room than the L5G and would have really shown that Laser USTs can be used with ambient light present.

    • @DavidDavisDH
      @DavidDavisDH Před rokem +1

      Yup, that's right. I normally watch movies or TV shows at night with low lighting, so that why I'm saving up for a projector. I want a immersed experience that you can get with a tv, but they are way out of my price range, plus large tvs are a pain to move.

    • @TriMuXx
      @TriMuXx Před rokem +1

      @@DavidDavisDH I literally told a family member this earlier this weekend. Even IF it’s a TV, I dim the lights ANYWAY…so if I’m ALREADY dimming the lights then a projector will be PERFECT. Bigger image, easier to move after buying a new house, etc.

    A curved screen would have been fantastic. A true DIYer never uses the word FAILED! They always use the words, "Now we go to Plan B..." Happy to see that you used the right tools for this project. DIYers also don't use the word JOB; it's PROJECT. I would have liked to see the whole room. My room had a large window. I installed electric-powered curtains. When I have guests over, I let them sit down and watch their impressions as I close the curtains from my chair. Then I turn on the projector, and they say, "Where's the sound?" At that request, I use my Clap on - Clap off device to turn on my 7.1 sound system. When I decide on a project, I always need to figure out when to stop.

      For this Laser TV when you want to have a 120" Screen, you need to mount the Screen 44.5 cm above the point where the Laser TV stands on. Knowing that, it is just a question of where you want to have the screen and calculating that point.

  • @ChrisThompsonthetechguy

    Doesn't the instructions say that where the laser exits that little piece of glass has to be 8 in from the screen or wall. I find it easiest to always mount your projector or put it where you generally want it. Get it to the size you want and then mark where your screen needs to be after centering the projector where you want it and everything. Keep in mind you also have to taking consideration the later coming speakers and where they will be mounted. If you're going to have a left and right you need to make sure and leave enough room. In my theater room I was limited to putting 100 in screen with a rear projector and I just barely had enough room for the tower speaker on either side with the center mounted directly under it on brackets mounted to the wall.

    For the projector, If the problem is you'll need distance. I was thinking of put the projector on the ceiling. It will eliminate having objects on the floor in front of you. Now you have room to walk. Now you can move the projector to its maximum size. You will have the room on the ceiling. But having it on the ceiling and getting the connection from the projector to your Blu-ray, PlayStation, etc is a problem. Installing a special connector outlet that has 1 or 2 HDMI and AUDIO. Run the wires up the wall to the ceiling to the projector. Now, if you need to connect anything to the projector, it will be at the special outlet. Here's something you can look at in your basement. For three days, your shirt looks good. But Don't know about the smell. LOL. Later

I have a 65in Samsung qled and my 1080p projector and 100inch screen cost half that. It doesn't get deep black, but it is bright at night, and fun to watch, I don't expect QLED quality from my projector, but now when renting streaming movies and the streaming services I see the same movies on my screen that are in the Theaters at home.

    If they were the same price would you choose the TCL tv or the Hisense short throw for a basement for sports and movies?

    • @BTheInstaller
      @BTheInstaller  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I would choose the tcl over the 100 inch hisense. But if you do 120 inch it starts to get harder. That size difference fills the room. The s5 is just a lot less and really nice but don't sleep on a big ust. I have awol 150" video tomorrow morning.

      Ok, so one more for ya. The Hisense 100” u8 mini LED or TCL 98” S5 LED? The Hisense just dropped in price and is now only 500 more than the TCL. Im a little worried about sports.

  • @johnfarnhamexperience

    So I'm a bit confused with the screen, I see in your vid you guys have installed it on your wall, but if you rent and don't own your house, you can't go drilling holes into the wall and putting brackets up... so does Hisense give a manual stand with the screen, or have you got to go and purchase that seperately????

    • @jglaserbot
      @jglaserbot Před rokem

      Some of the projectors come packaged with the screen, this particular one doesn’t so he’s using the one he got with his previous LG projector. To answer your question as I’m in the same predicament and lease my space so in that case you can purchase a powered floor screen which sits on the ground and then rolls upward out of it’s case. The screens come in a variety of sizes and most sites selling them have calculators so you can see what best fits your space.

      I have the PX-1 Pro featured in this video. If you have a dedicated room where you can control the lighting, then this is a very good UST with highly accurate colors. If not, you need a brighter one such as Epson LS500 or hisense lg5

  • @ChrisThompsonthetechguy

    In my home theater have the TV mounted on the wall with a screen mounted on brackets that stick out far enough that the screen just barely comes down in front of the TV. When I turn to watch the projector of course the TV goes off and the projector comes on while the screen comes down. I just so happen to have a spare 120 in remote control screen that works with RF and IR remotes. In case you need to program the remote into a universal remote system. Email me. I'll give you a good deal. Lol I am serious. I do have the screen laying out in my garage.

    I think there is such a thing as going with too big a screen size, or sitting too close to the screen. I think that would be the situation in that small room if you go bigger than the 80 something inch tv. You wouldn't see the whole picture, so to speak. Your eye can take in photons from more than 180* (some people more and some less) but the brain emphasizes the center of your eyesight, so I can see that my TV is sitting in front of a wall but when I'm viewing a show my brain is giving priority to an angle of view of 45* in the center of my vision, again with some people that's more or less. In that case, for most of the time the wall behind the screen is ignored by my brain. With a very large screen you're only watching the center area and the rest is more or less being ignored by the brain.
    People are different in what they like. Some people sit in the front row of the theater and some sit in the middle or back, and not because those were the only empty seats so what I'm saying doesn't apply to all. I speak in general terms.
    I recently made the decision not to go with the 65" Hisense U8H but with the 55'" because of my seating arrangement. Right now it's a $300 difference and after 100 days Hisense will send you back $100 if you like. So, $200, bigger tv with more backlit zones. Who knows, I may regret my decision if I move my front room furniture around. I have it placed now where it doesn't get any window reflections, and they bug the heck out of me. I did a test of sorts and sat in other parts of the room and just couldn't spend the extra $300 for the bigger set. YMMD
