Best CW watch I’ve seen so far-watch prices are certainly going up on “affordable “ watches.
I hope they shrink the c65 to a 39mm to really give it a fully vintage feel on the wrist!
I'm such a sucker for sapphire bezels. I think they really add a touch of class to what is usually a big bulky style of watch. I do wish every watch that used one wasn't immediately lumped into the homage category though. I'd love for these bezels to become as common as ceramic; sapphire is harder than ceramic and looks so good. Add CWs case style and you've just got class for days.
The cream dial is phenomenal with blue bezel
No question the best watch they've done so far. Bezel sounds like a cross between a Seiko Sumo and a Black Bay 58. I like it.
Something you might have missed by getting it on the leather strap - the bracelet is actually significantly changed. It still uses quick release end links but is now a screwed link bracelet rather than pin and collar. It has a much more significant taper to a narrower clasp, which itself has more micro adjustment points. Honestly it feels really different to any modern watch bracelet I have tried given the amount of taper they've chosen for it.
I bought the reviewed watch and love it, but I am not a fan of the excessive taper on the bracelet at all. I bought the watch with the blue tropic strap, which is excellent. I tried using the regular C65 bracelet that only tapers from 22mm to 18mm on the watch, but it did not work due to different pin hole locations. In addition to the tropic strap I am using a blue and white tide strap, and a camel Tiber leather strap that came with my CW Cranwell.
Finally they've got it right, their previous logo looked like it belonged on a kickstarter watch
The bracelet on this has a bigger taper than the older version and its also screw link not pin and collar.
At this point CW are just a proper watch brand. Not micro by any stretch. They are established, they are original, they manufacture their own in house movements, and they sell at a level of an established brand. They are young yes, but they very much heading the direction of a Sinn at this stage.
I actually find the new twin flags logo lacking. Maybe it will eventually grow on me, but it just seems too flat and static. I think changing the logo from printed to applied would make a world of difference.
I think I actually prefer "Christopher Ward" on the dial at the moment.
I love the light catcher case!! My favorite from CW. I like the new logo design and placement and that they listen to our comments and change accordingly. This watch is awesome love it 👍
Intetesring, as always good watch from CW, but must admit in this case shape I like Dartmouth the most & vintage blue previous generation. Man, I so regret that not buy Super Compressor when it was possible... Thanks for review Chris
Hi Cris, good review, I´m a fan of CW, got a the C60 diver because of one of your reviews, and expect to get a C63 Sealander, but I dont think it´s a good idea for them, or any brand for that matter, to pay too much attention to the comments regarding design, they are the experts, they could end up with a Homer car for the common man. Greetings!
I don’t usually pay attention to Christopher Ward but that new logo grabbed my attention. Nice watch
I love it!, Especially the logo instead of text on the dial. The blue is stunning.
I have just bought the Aquitaine GMT in black/black on black vintage oak leather - gorgeous. I do like the blue, but I already have a Tudor Black Bay 58 in navy blue
I really like this brand. I have their world timer.
Great video as always!
I like both of the CW watches in this video. Good reviews on both these watches I would like CW to do an updated version of their moon glow watch
Now if Only Grand Seiko, would follow Christopher Ward's lead & wise move. By ONLY using their Logo on the Dial. The World would be a Better Place. ;-)
You can better bang for your buck with a Glycine Combat Sub - same movement. Yes, the Ward has a better bezel, but is it worth it just for that?
@Tancred De Hauteville if lume is important, glycine tends to suck across the board (imo). not with cw. but like you said, depends what features you value for the price
But they don't look the same and the level of craftsmanship are night and day. The combat sub is not something I would wear personally
@Mrs. Riki 39mm is a bit girly for me - I have Bienne in 39mm which I use a dress watch. My Combat Subs are the 'butch' 46mm ones - pure testosterone on my wrist!
@@shawn1928 Seiko is best for lume - I also have some great Seiko quartz divers.
@@tancreddehauteville764 hard to argue with that
Thanks for the review. I love this watch, especially the bezel. It´s nice to see that they have bezels which align perfectly - I have one of their first C60 Tridents and the bezel has never been right, didn´t stop me buying another model for my wife though :))
Anyway, I do really like the brand - I wouldn´t call them a micro brand to be honest, but people have different definitions of that anyway. This blue Aquitaine could well be my next watch. Cheers!
Been looking forward to a video of these. I'd say CW is an independent; it doesn't imply haute horology.
I think they nailled it on this one. I really like the White dial version! Hope to see them at their annual sale soon :p
You will only see nearly new in the sale, these days the sale only includes discontinued and nearly new watches.
Damnit Chris, I can't afford this one either!!! I absolutely 💯 love this watch. Beautiful
They named it Aquitaine after Jacques Cousteau as Aquitaine is the place in France where he was born ( as in Eleanor of Aquitaine )
Missed this somehow I like the new logo & this watch but the second hand is a bit much . I'm a big fan of Blancpain 50 Fathom
I have a c63 Sealander GMT, kinda wish I waited a little for the new logo.
I only have 7 watches, 2 Seiko, 1 Longines, 2 Christopher Ward Trident Mk 2, a Rolex Datejust & a Rolex sub. All the boxes are watch boxes. I got a CW Lympstone & the "Box" just isn't a watch box, to me its awful. The watch is great but its not with my other boxes because it doesn't fit in. And worse of all the COSC certificate wont fit inside the box!, it would if you folded it but i'm not doing that!. Had my OCD bouncing off the walls!!. So i am now looking for my next favourite watch company that does good watches with a nice box!. Not having another of those boxes, winds me up thinking about it!! ... and, its only my opinion & some may love the boxes!
Having a hard time to choose - this or CERTINA Ds PS200m ......
Hello. What is the correct name of the color of this strap, camel vintage or brown vintage? I want to buy the same for my c65 green)
They rebrand the C60 trident with that logo and they have my money
The C60 MK 3.1 is coming soon. We will see what they are updating soon.
Make this in a 38.5 give or take half a millimetre and it will be good
Looks good!
Bro does the bezel triangle not align properly on the indices?
I’ve never seen a CW in the wild. I have a BB58 blue which I’m considering replacing with this. After all, what’s the point of having two all blue watches. I’m not keen on the alternative colours. Am I crazy to replace such an iconic Tudor?
I have several blue watches-always room for one more 😎.
Add, don't replace. Don't forget you can return the CW under their 60/60 guarantee so DO NOT sell the Tudor before getting the CW.
CW is really very good. But the Tudor BB58 -- blue or black -- is great.
Yes, you are crazy! The Tudor BB58 is an awesome watch
If only this was 39mm with 20mm lug width... Mmmmmmmm
Logo = twin flags of England & Switzerland ( representing Red Cross on white background / white cross on red background )
Is this a new unreleased c63, or is the watch in this review really the c65?
It is a C65. The next C63 to be released is going to be a 36mm version of the Sealander.
@WatchChris I think the title of this video may have a typo.
Yeah it looks nice, but has no heritage really. Why not buy a Squale?
The logo doesn’t bother me, what bothers me is that they cannot just leave it alone. It makes it seem as if they have no confidence in their own brand and just blow with the wind.
Beautiful watch, but for the price....a bit overpriced for me.
All new watches are just having the logo .
Bracelet has screws on all new style watches.
That only category you need for Christopher Ward is "cool watch company" - don't get your pants in a twist trying to categorise them any other way.
French name, pronounced aquatayne, not aquateen or aquatyne.
This has the DNA of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, Baltic Aquascaphe, and the Bulova Mil-Ships.....The CW logo needs to go. It messes up the dial. The logo looks too techno-geek.
The Baltic is a homage to the fifty fathoms really so are the Bulova and the CW
@@WatchChris Holy Crap! I didn't take into consideration who is the OG of the diving watches. I recently heard that Rolex was the first dive watch ever made and to top it off it looks very similar to the JLC Reverso. Have I just been schooled by The Master? The Ultimate Chris.? Lol. I need to do more research before I open my mouth,. Lol
@@ajbones4207 hahah not at all. The first diver was the fifty fathoms there are photos and records of the Rolex designer who designed the submariner on a boat with the person who designed the fifty fathoms. The fifty fathoms was prototype at the time and the sub wasn't a thing yet. So many people call the sub an homage to the fifty fathoms....
@@WatchChris So the Submariner is the Fifty Fathoms bitch? Lmfao. Just kidding ! you bunch of Rolex-loving maniacs.
@@ajbones4207 I think you are referring to the Omega Marine which predated the Blancpain and the Submariner. It had a square waterproof case that was very reminiscent of a JLC. The Blancpain and Submariner were the first to have a timing bezel.
Thank God, I absolutely hate Christopher Ward Font!!!
