Cisco: The VPN connection failed due to unsuccessful domain name resolution - Troubleshoot and Fix

  • Cisco AnyConnect VPN client (application) display this catch it all error message when the device cannot "see" the VPN tunnel. The error, the VPN connection failed due to unsuccessful domain name resolution, can also be caused by technical issues on the client machine. In this tutorial, I demonstrate few of the troubleshooting techniques that I use resolve this error.
    This is not an exhaustive list of methods. A skilled IT Analyst should be using analytical skills to eliminate possible issues by testing variety of VPN connection aspects.

    about 8 minutes after ipconfig release and renew my vpn connected on it's own. Thank You! I will also connect machine directly to router with lan cable if problem persists. I am monitoring this since it started to occur with new router.
