Home Lab Update May 2024 - 42U Server Rack!
A a walkthrough video of my rack cabinet in the basement of my house. I had a home lab since I was 14 years old. This particular configuration was put together between April to May 2024*. The original setup under $2000 CAD and can be viewed here: czcams.com/video/DbJEC7iYIv0/video.htmlsi=YSwDX5m5CO5zx2Gu. The current setup cost about $3000 CAD.
These servers are repurposed (not so much reconditioned) items that either I brought off Kijiji Canada or donated by Canadian companies and individuals. By using virtual machines, this setup just makes sense.
*This home lab is always evolving. The configuration maybe different now than when it was recorded in mid-May 2024.

There is no option in the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) application to delete/remove successful previous RDP connection IP or hostnames from its “Computer” box. Lol... This setup was done in Canada. I have made significant improvements to the setup since this video was posted. It is an expensive setup for some but with Canadian IT equipment prices, this is still cheap., I understand that this type of setup is probably impossible to do cheaply in other parts of the world. With a global audience on this channel, we need to keep that in mind. 😊

Hi Thanks for the video, my Server 2022 displays "You're on a metered network. Some apps might work differently to help you save data while on this network" but I am on cable internet. How can i change this to normal network (non metered network) ?
There is an option in the Windows settings you can change. Open Settings and type "metered connection" and it should show up. Make sure it is not set to metered connection.

Hey @NetITGeeks just a FYI i would highly recommend you use a really nice and friendly util for reading the partitions called "df".. I always use -: df -h It keeps things nice simple and brief, when needed. :)

I Removed the adapter and ran the command to create a new one, however it does not delete the adapter at all and comes back with an error that an instance already exists. I am on VMWare.

Hello, i downloaded this instead of the desktop version by mistake. Im trying to do a restore from the advanced options but some of my options are missing and the reagentc is enabled. Any tips on how to get the options back if reagentc is enabled already? Or just download the os to a usb on a diff computer is my only hope?

Fantastic video sir! Have you ever figured out how to increase the number of bad password attempts before the Bitlocker recovery process starts? It seems to be 5 bad attempts by default, just because that's what I'm seeing in my environment. But I cannot find how to increase that to a different number.
