    A couple of points - the Type 26 or a future AAW variant thereoff will not replace the Type 45,what becomes of the Type 83 will have that role,secondly the Type 26 will have 2 x 24 VLS for CAAM/SeaCeptor as well as the 24 MK41 VLS Cells,so 72 not 24 as stated.

      Retract the UK part and this is a fully factual statement. Don't worry just like the Brits destroyed their empire with needless entrance into major world conflicts they didn't need to, the united states is using that history not as a warning but a template.

    Type 26 is anti-sub warfare with a secondary role of anti air support. Not intended for primary anti air role. The Future type 83 is the successor to the type 45..

    Can someone explain to me where all this hype around the Darings comes from? That thing ain’t a Death Star, it is and was a somewhat average destroyer for the 2010s, comparable to the french/italo Horizon class and japanese Akizuki class in terms of capabilities. It was certainly a huge step from the Type 42/82 classes, yes, but those platforms were developed in the 70s.

    As for the engines, the GOVERNMENT should not experiment with ships of the line, but with a ship that isn't a combat ship BEFORE using them in combat ships.

      Actually most of the technology in this ship would be of foreign origin even going down to the chips and i am not just talking about foreign design coz that would be a lot but also manufactured in other countries simply coz uk doesn't have a industry except for finance and services

    • @azzifyy5988
      @azzifyy5988 Před 5 měsíci

      Nato defines the 055 as a different ship class making them incomparable. However when it comes to air defence which is obviously the primary role of the Type 45 with it being the only 1 shot 1 kill air defence destroyer will still give it an advantage in that role once it receives its upgrade giving it 72 VLS cells. The Type 45 also has a taller radar tower giving it an advantage in early detection.

    These are nowhere near the bite they should have. They were supposed to be fitted with TLAM tomahawk missile, but the government decided they were too expensive. Some dont even have harpoon, which, by the way, is old, very old. The ships i sailed in had those, and i haven't been anywhere near a warship for 22 years. Unless you can strike directly at the source of the missiles firing at you, all that will happen is that you will run out of missles defending youselves.
