    Look awesome ! But I wonder that we have to make an unwrap uv map of low poly model to match the form of high poly, isn't it ?

      you can uv unwrap the low poly however you like, but it needs uv's. The uv's do not need to match the high poly.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial!
    I am quite new to baking high poly and stuff and so I was wondering how did you made that low poly model?
    Did you first sculpt it then retopo? What if my low poly head doesn't really match the form of the high poly model?

      Hi, in this case the lowpoly was a quick mockup modeled using face snapping on top of the highpoly.
      The lowpoly doesn't need to match perfectly, but the closer it matches the better the results will be. Equally, the higher the polycount of the lowpoly the better the results.

    I keep getting no active image found but it seems your high poly models don't have an image node as well. a little confused :/

      I kept getting that too and realized I did not have the texture node selected (he says it at around 1:26 )

      @@miaiiiaiom4999 For me it complains about the high poly mesh not having an active image, which is weird because a color material should suffice as it's shown in the video. Really confusing.
      Edit: I think I just solved it, you have to select everything in a very specific way before baking.
      At first I tried selecting everything in the scene collection list, and I thought as long as i select the low poly mesh last, it should work. But it didn't and it complained about the high poly not having an active image.
      What I did slightly different was I selected the high poly meshes in the list first, then I select the low poly mesh IN THE FUCKING VIEWPORT. Then it fucking worked. Super weird.

    i got all the way to the end despite 3 or 4 non explained parts which i had to google and then on the last step it said there is no uv for my model. i dont know what anything is yet but i will say if your tutorials dont include the basic knowledge or all the steps your demographic can only ever be people who already know what they are doing in blender. with all the new ai stuff and all the improvements to engines and modeling software i think there is going to be a massive influx of new people to the arena, if u want those people as followers i would suggest you appeal to their needs else they will of course go to someone who does and really there arnt that many choices, if u did it u would corner the market so to speak potentially and ur making tutorials anyway u might as well

    Yo, bro, tell me why I'm following your steps 100% accurately, and getting black lines here and there and dark parts. Why isn't it turning out like yours, clean and like it was copied and pasted from the high-poly to low-poly!? 😢

    I have a problem, when I press bake it only bakes 2 of the sides of my mesh and I don't know how to fix it.

      The mesh is either occluded by other objects that are visible to render or you need to tweak the ray distance.

    maybe it's just my version (2.93) but this process step-by-step, doesn't generate a high-to-low poly texture at all whatsoever. It displays the intersections in the mesh and can't map properly to the UV map. Maybe this process is different in more recent versions

      This took me so long to figure out because trial and error baking takes forever- but the problem is you should set EXTRUSION to 0.1, and max ray distance at default 0. Works now!

    Do you Unwrap the HighPoly before or the Retopology? I colored my Char and the Color of the Tounge is somewhere, but not on it.

    Hi, I've followed the tutorial, and it has worked, but I'm having an issue with getting the baked model, into the scene without it standing out and ignoring the scenes lighting. I've tried adding different shader options, however they start to reveal the models topology. Is there a way around this?

      i know this is late but could try baking it in the lighting you want, and then it wont stand out as much.

    how to bake without light information? i made texture in photoshop, and use it for my high poly model. and i want to bake it to my low poly model.. but i dont want it with light information.. do you know how to do it? thanks

    One more question, my baked texture has black spots, it is because the low poly model doesn't really match the highpoly model?

      yes, also try experimenting the ray distance in the bake settings.

      @@GamedevFred Thanks! Actually I played with the Ray distance and it worked after that :D
      However I didn't set up any light but I just bake the diffuse texture only and it worked as well!

      yes, the lowpoly you bake to needs a UV unwrap.
