- Here is a new video !!
This is a vintage razor blade sharpener made around 1920 by the American company Twinplex Stamping Co. It's the G200 model.
The original color was hammer grey, I decided to do a satin black / mirror polish finish. I hope you'll like that version that was produced back then.
It must have been very useful to have one in your package :!
The leather parts were missing, hopefully I had a very old jacket from the 80's in my closet :)
Please watch till the end to see this beautiful mini razor blade sharpener in action !
By supporting the channel you help me make more of these video and find more amazing items.
I hope you'll enjoy this restoration.
Thanks a lot for watching !

Beautiful work! You make it look easy. Maybe this sounds weird, but I was glad to see the nickel plating being done. It always bugs me to see someone polish a bit of carbon steel, then just leave it that way as if it won't rust.
So here's a tidbit of trivia about the blade inside the sharpener: Wilkinson Sword produced razor blades like this one between 1962 and 1978. Otherwise, they were mostly known for swords, bayonets, and commando knives. Between 1903 and 1916, Wilkinson Sword also made motorcycles, but they didn't really catch on. It's an interesting company to read about!
Thank you very much 🙏 Always a pleasure to read some very interesting infos 😌👍
I would glue the skin on the other side; on the other side the paste holds well. Great job.
Sand blaster realy is the best workshop tool human has ever made
Didn't realize they made something like this. How cool! Have a great day
Impressive. I don't think I've ever seen someone polishing a bearing. Well done mate.
Keep them coming.
Thank you ! First time for me too 😉👍
I like that one of the ends had a little face. Beautiful job as always. 😊
I was surprised with how much corrosion and leather bits were in the sharpener. The sharpener looks fantastic and repairing that box was a great idea. Thanks for sharing this and you do great work on all of your restorations.
Thank you very much John ! The leather should have been glued on the other side, I mean the Suede side… But it seems like it does the job 🤷♂️ Thanks again for your support 🙏
I almost thought it was a pencil sharpener for a second. lol
A real history lesson. I had never seen anything like this, I didn't know that kind of razor blade could be sharpened! I'll bet this was handy during The Great Depression.
He did a restoration a few months ago of a different type of safety blade sharpener, too!
honestly, i think tresuring and caring for our material things is the norm in history, the actual attitude of buying five or six very mediocre razors a month to trow away after using like 3 times is the weird thing in perspective.
Imported steel was a marketing flex at one point...
You always find unique items to restore and with a history behind them. It was a nice work and video. The only thing is that you put the leather on the other side but I guess no one will use that anymore , so it’s fine. It looks gorgeous and you chose new colors more better than it was before 👍👌 cheers mate !
Thank you very much my friend. You’re right the leather would have been more efficient on the other side. Well it looks like it does the job anyways 🤷♂️😅👍
Very clever design. Never seen that kind of object. The way it rotates the blade is a simple and elegant mechanism.
Fantastic work as usual. Chrome and black is perfect.
Thanks a lot Damien. I think the leather should be reversed… It would have been more efficient on the Suede side 🤷♂️ It does the job anyways, even if it could be sharper 😉👍
@@TheFabrik A little green stropping compound on the leather might help.
@@r.awilliams9815definitely 👍
as a welder I’m impressed you didn’t burn right through that thin material
Stunning restoration. Such a treat to watch
Now thats a vintage collector's item!
I really like how your sandblasting doesn't leave a streaky looking surface behind ❤
You glued the wrong side of the leather upwards. You should have glued the leather with the suede side up. When you polish a blade you also get better results if you use a polishing compound which is why you put the leather suede side up so the compound sticks to the leather.
Thanks for all these infos ! Now I know. It seems like the shiny side does the job too, even if it’s less efficient. Thanks again. I’ll do better next time 👍
Another common, everyday tool from a hundred years ago, turned into a jewel. Better than new. Would the humble man who worked at the factory ever dream his production to be restored in the XXI century?
Can you do some videos on the tools you're using? It would be great to know all the in between details like what grain of sand blaster using and what cabinets/machines you have. These videos are very inspiring. Thanks for making them.
There are a few infos in the description 👍
We moved alot when I was a kid and had to clean alot of houses found lot of old stuff like this. But I can pretty much guarantee I have never seen a® mark on a razor blade . But this old blade had a ® mark.
That was cool. And rescuing the box was a nice touch. 👍
You always find the coolest stuff to bring back to life. The only other razor sharpener I've seen restored is Mr. P. Very well done!
It looks so chic at the end! I would never guess it's a razor blade sharpener... 😅
I remember trying to sharpen blades for my grandfather in the early 1950s. Didn’t have much luck! Lol
Beautifully done. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work.
Super !
Thanks! I have one of those in like new condition. I actually use it for stropping blades.
Nice save!
I had one when I was younger and it it worked great for extending the life of the blades and it was fun to use ! Great job.
👍🏻Great! A good old thing gets newborn! Nice that you put attention to the box as well!
Lovely results! Small detail: it's a strop not a sharpener.
Okay i have watched all of your videos from oldest to newest. I have some questions:
Do you change your glass beads for every project? It seems like you are always adding them.
Why do you not use pickling for all items? Is there certain materials it wont work on? It seems like that is the way more efficient process.
What happened to the laser???
And most importantly, why are you not churning out videos constantly and listing the items you refurbish for sale? You could be monetizing this channel way more for yourself and this hobby. Its absolutely fascinating and YOUR restored toys would generate a sizable profit since you can set the prices yourself. Everyone will want their hands on a Fabrick Restored Trainset from the 20-40s. They for real are super neat.
Have you considered building a toy from scratch? I think by now you could do it by memory and create one way better! That one would be a one of kind priceless piece of art. Food for thought.
Holy production quality, man. This is fantastic. I’m subscribing.
Found your channel after your last video was reposted on a different platform (....uncredited 🙁). I have been watching all afternoon - your videos are wonderfully relaxing and I'm learning a lot too!
Thank you very much !!! There are a lot of fake accounts out there🤷♂️
A very cool and useful gadget! And, as always, the video work was masterfully handled. Thank you so much!
Dan
Thank God you powder-coated it. Powder coat everything!
😅👍
The consistent quality of your works keeps me looking for your next video❤
Thank you so much 🙏 Glad you appreciated it 🙌
That poor tomato. Excellent work 👍
Hey TF
Great restoration 🙂
I did not read the title to the video, at the end I thought; why did you not sharpen a pencil...then it clicked...haha
Take care of Yourself 😊
😅👍 I love tomatoes !
Very unusual item. I’ve never seen one before. Great result! 👏🏻I love how glossy and perfect that black paint looks. 😍
Thanks for listing all the items you use from your videos.
Awesome! I loved that you kept the box, of course lol
A great job on a useful object.
My father used a similar one, 60 years ago.
When I joined the Royal Navy in 1975 my dad took me to the train station in Newcastle upon tyne, he gave me a clumsily wrapped package before I got on the train and a 10 shilling note, the package was a razor with those exact blades, I was 16 and my face looked like a map of Englands inland waterways.
Wow thank you ! Glad to bring the memories back 😌🙏
It looks real good after renovation 👍👍
Can we get a video of all of your restorations please
Oh that would be awesome ! Let me think about that ;)
I've never seen a razor which can barely cut a tomato 😂
Polishing the ball bearing was just showing off. If I tried that, there would be a fire 😂
Amazing skill, awesome beauty..
That was awesome! The skill and patience are unreal.
Another Masterpiece of restorations
I'm not sure why I didn't get a notification but I'm really glad I found it!! You did a fabulous job as always😊 and what's even better is the Bold pieces look like the face of a little bear smiling at you where the screw holes would go!!!🐻🐻 so stinking cute!!😂 can you do a fabulous job everybody's a Critic please don't listen to the others you do a great job!!!👍😁🇺🇸
Thank you very much !! Glad you appreciated it 😌🙏
I see he had the strop on.
Fantastic. I'm still waiting for Titanic restauration 😂.
Oh ! I wish I could ! 😅
@TheFabrik Well, if it's not possible, then I would like to see the restoration of an item from Ussr (a radio, for example, a pateffon etc. :) )
Watching you cut that tomato with the before and after blade was like watching one of those badly acted adverts for a naff kitchen gadget. The “before” shot you tried cutting the tomato by simply pushing the blade down through the fruit with no sawing action, then surprise, surprise once the blade had been sharpened you cut it again but this time used sawing motion
We all know even a dull razor blade could cut through a tomato if you used a sawing action. Busted
Overall well done. For future reference, the leather you used looks like chrome tanned leather. For something like this veg tanned leather would be best and the flesh side or rougher side would be the side exposed to the blade. The grain side or smooth side will not be as effective on the blades. Nice touch changing the color. I understand wanting to put your own spin on it. No pun intended.😁
I had a similar device, but had no idea what it was until recently. I thought it was to roll cigarettes!!
You always find the most unique items that I've never seen before. You should be proud of the excellent work you do. I just LOVE your channel!!
Thank you ! Glad you appreciated it 😌👍
Restaurado afiador de lâmina de barbear 😉
Fantastic Restoration looks beautiful well done 👍.
Wilkinson sword razor blades appeared in the 60s where I am. Stainless and lasted much longer than the carbon steel ones.
What a brilliant thing ... great restoration
A beautiful job. Bravo
Chalk up another amazing video from the Fabrik!
Beautiful restoration! 👍🏻
First time ever seeing one 👍
I think i would have boiled that leather in water for a while to remove the chemicals used in the tanning process to bring it back to it's more natural state.
And I would have definitely glued it with the furry side outermost. It's the coarse innermost side of the leather that is used for stropping, not the shiny treated side...
You’re definitely right. Thanks for the tips 👍
@@TheFabrik you are welcome. Thanks for the upload, I've not seen one quite like before - interesting little device.
You are too much Sir, the way you are working on the product, it's really wonderful, like and love your restorations....
Keep it up Sir,
Awaiting for the new one.
Thanks a lot my friend 😌🙏
Another fantastic restoration.👍🏻👍🏻
Lovely work
😅👍
Neat contraption! Nice work on the restoration.
I'm surprised you could sharpen that razor with the Twinplex. There's no compound or abrasive right?
It seems like it would just strop the edge, polishing it and removing burrs, and not actually put a new edge on a dull blade - but then your results say otherwise.
I guess it comes from the united States 👍
Very nice, a pleasure to watch. Ty.
Wonderful!
Terrific, as always Fab! Thanks. Tom. (from France).
Merci Tom !
Old fishing reel next?
I already did one ! 😅👍
Classy work........and fascinating! 👍🏻
Super-love this channel! For real!
Thank you !!! 🙏
Nice restoration 👍🏻😊
but for sharpening they use the other side of the leather. A fine abrasive paste is applied to the suede
True l Now I know 👍
Better than new ! You find the most interesting things to restore.
Nice restoration 😊
My father had a razor blade sharpener just like this. However, I seem to remember a fine curved whetstone attached to the inside of the cover, so the blade flexed to whet the edge every time the holder turned over.
Very nice. Thank you!
Chciałbym chociaż na chwilę taką zabytkową rzecz w rękach mieć.Piękna robota,👍👏
Bravo very good work
I like your videos
I always wait for your new videos 😅
stay healthy 🤟
I’ll try not to cut any finger 😅
😄
Great Job 👍👍👍
Toujours originale et toujours un plaisir !🤓
Un grand merci !
Nice!
