Right. Jail is where you go immediately after being arrested, if your sentence is less than 1 year, or if you’re waiting to be transferred to prison after sentencing. Prison is for a sentence longer than 1 year and only after sentencing. Conditions and treatment by staff also vary GREATLY.

He’s going to jail first and could be there for years. You only go to prison after the trial and you have been convicted and sentenced to more than a year and a day. If you are sentenced to one year or less you stay in jail and don’t go to prison. I hope that helps you narrate your videos.

I'd be interested to know more about the so-called "armed burglary". Robbery implies person-upon-person, whereas burglary implies person-upon-property (without another person being present aside from the burglar).
