Wish we could go back to the time when only the league champions in every country qualified for the Champions League, and the European cup winners cup was still around. Then you would have 3 tournaments filled with great teams instead of one with all the big teams. And 2 others with good to average teams. Maybe not this year, but the Europa League final is usually made up of the teams that weren't good enough to progress through the Champions League group stage.
Such a high quality match for those times... despite a typical "1-0 final", this game will be remembered by many 90's kids as a great match, just think about it: Pep, Ronaldo, Figo, Couto, Lucho, Baia, Amor and above all... Stoichkov coming in late. This was also a revenge for the 1995 Champions League QF defeat. What a team, today's Barca would fear Barca 97. They scored more than 100 in La Liga that year, something totally unusual back then in Spain or anywhere in the world. Why, why sell Ronaldo!?!?! Imagine Ronaldo+Rivaldo playing together at Barca.

Anyway, Hesp was a good goalkeeper in the end, considering his age.
