- Hi, my name is Adam!
It's time to enter my first race with a singlespeed bike that I have built up with an old road bike frame. I usually ride fixed gear, but it's fun to mix it up sometimes. The race is called Halvvättern, and it is the half-distance version of Vätternrundan, the world's biggest casual cycling event with over 20,000 riders each year.
June 2023.

Gotta take the pedals apart and pack them with grease. Spraying oil in there won't keep the bearing races from scratching up and the pedal becoming junk.
yeah, for sure. Lots of grease and a lot of torque when tightening the bottom bracket.
good job dude. that's very impressive! plenty
Thanks a plenty!

Saludos.
Hello Adam! how are you? I hope it's ok. I wanted to ask you, is it safe a fixed gear with those """pins"""("hooks" where the rear wheel axle is adjusted) or whatever, from a road bike!?, they always told me that they are unsafe and that they must be """pins"""("hooks" where the axle of the rear wheel is adjusted) of a track or velodrome bicycle!!
Greetings. (Traductor Google)
Hi Xaviz! I think it is safe, at least for beginners. I have used two different steel road bike frames for fixed gear, and it has been safe for me. But maybe a strong track cyclist could break the dropouts?
If it makes you feel better, I don't think you are the first person to unscrew an Italian bottom bracket just by pedalling it. Try some threadlocker on the left side next time
thanks :) threadlocker, eh? that sounds useful, yes. since the mechanics at the race tightened it, it has stayed in place tho :) btw is threadlocker easily removable?
@@addvurtbikesBlue loctite (or similar) comes loose with enough force
thanks dude!
