OMG, that is so stressful. The company should have been prepared already with the tarp, and obviously, checked the weather. I have seen plenty of roof jobs where the roofers tarp the roof at the end of their day, just in case it rains. And then they remove it the next working day. If you did have damage, the roofing company should compensate you. Inquire.
We just had a lot of work done to our home and my stress levels were off the chart! 6 people in and out of my house for a couple of days. I ended up in tears lol. I of course had to immediately start cleaning. Long story short, work done and everything works wonderfully and my stress levels went back to normal for me. Just hang in there and know it's going to be wonderful.💜🖤
I can completely relate to how you feel about the roof job. I too have suffered from water damage trauma and it no joke! Hang in there! The end result is going to be beautiful and worth it!

Recently my tires got a nail in it and when I took him to get in they were like hey we can't repair this your tires just need to be replaced..... And it wasn't an opportune time and I did not have extra funds at the time but I'm an adult and I just had to do it that it lol. I own my house The roof was put in 7 years ago in hurricane Alley. Here's hoping I last five more
DUDE. I WISH. You know, I have seen those little gargoyle-y dudes that sit at the bottom of your downspouts on the ground. I definitely wanna check into those depending on where our downspouts end up.
That happened to my parents place years ago. They had roofers at their place and a downpour happened. The roofers didn't have tarps. There ended up being alot of damage all the way to the first floor.

Very impressed, author and photographer! I've often wondered what part of the country your mansion was in, if it was even in the US. I'm going to assume you're in Ohio. Many fine old hisoric homes in northern US. I'm originally from Michigan, small town north of Detroit; several beautiful old housrs in my home town. TY
Luckily I had the tiniest amount of forethought when we first moved in and decided I wouldn't do tooooo much gardening around the house until after the roof was done. (Also, the water pouring off the house would have been a pain in the butt in the garden!) So, they really don't have too many plants too watch out for. Aaaaand I get the bonus of lots of new spaces to garden once this project is done!!
What fun and a fun journey. I n your introduction you were stoning up around the base of the porch, did you leave any airflow,maintenance access spaces . You could end up with mold and rot problems in the future if not . Love the house and light , congratulations .
