Note: This playthrough was also started by "picking the Shield, giving up the Sword" at the prologue, so the level in which you get said abilities may differ greatly.

"Gigas Shadow" are a special type of Heartless that will immediately vanish if they manage to hurt you. They drop the "Fury Stone" synthesis material.
Attack them from a distance and you should be able to defeat them easily.
All you really need is a strong Keyblade, the "Lucky Strike" and "Strike Raid" ability, and the "Aerora" spell.
"Counterattack", "Stun Impact", and "Ripple Drive" are back-up abilities in case you don't have the "Strike Raid" ability or "Aerora" spell.

I am playing through the series again before the Release of KH3 and you can make this even easier. Just equip whatever you have that makes summons stronger. Equip all Cheer Abilities, summon Dumbo once the Giga Shadows Spawn. Dumbo is strong enough to kill all the Gigas Shadows before running our of MP and you cannot be hit while Dumbo is summoned so the Shadows cannot escape and you will always get 2 Fury Stones.

I got around to playing the PS4 version of this last year and can confirm this is a great strategy as well. It's especially great early on too if you start getting the mats before the heartless become stronger after Hollow Bastion.

If you go inside the chimney, the shadow cannot touch you. You can spam thunder without any problem

Plus if you use bambi summon, running out of mp isnt an issue

A couple tips for people doing this: 1) I don’t think it matters if the small heartless hit you. 2) casting aeroga on yourself makes you able to take some hits without causing the big heartless to disappear

I've found that sumoning dumbo worked perfectly for me, as you become untargettable for the duration of the summon, anyway, great vid!

But he also showed that you can use Olympia or the Divine Rose for it.
He just used Ultima because he had it.
