    I never heard anyone say to suck fluid out of the unit before. That’s a great idea. I will try this when I do my first fluid and filter change on my 2016 F150.

      Everyone looking like idiots now, I’m laughing too much now. I’m about to do my first transmission oil change. This looks easy.

    Please in addition to the amazing info here look at the solenoids at front of valve body, my 2015 with 90,000 miles had a failed hitch pin retaining a solenoid it looked odd and during inspection found it was inferior and broken, added new clip and restored trust and durability to transmission, original broken clip did cause damage to valve body. Service transmission more often then recommend intervals!

    Is the fluid in the torque converter getting drained too? I heard there's more trans fluid in the torque converter than there is in the transmission. Is tht correct???

    • @Rangerscott69
      @Rangerscott69 Před 9 měsíci +1

      No this is just the fluid in the pan. They stopped putting drain plugs in torque converters decades ago. If you want all all the fluid changed at once, you'll need to go to a place that can do a full flush with a machine OR you can google the diy way of pulling a trans line and doing it yourself if you are up to it.
      Another option is to drain whats in the pan, refill then, drive around for awhile, then drain again and refill. Doing rhis 2 to 3 times gets most the old fluid out. Its more time consuming and more trans fluided, BUT a lot easier for someone to do.
      My gramps '93 f150 has a view port throught the the trans bell housing and the torque convertwr has a drain plug. The days where vehicle manufactures helped the diy'er are just about over. Ford hasnt had a drain plug in the axles diffs for a long time. So simple to have but it saves them money and cost the consumer more.

    Question ? Is the auxiliary pump inlet seal comes with the filter FT-200 ? Included or sold separately ? Be nice to know ahead of time ! Thanks anyone for your response !

      I know the duralast TF504 kit from autozone come with the pan gasket and the filter but I’m not sure about the seal… I would go to the dealer for the seal to be 100% positive it’s correct!

    how many gallons/quarts of transmission fluid i should prepare for this. this is definitely not all the transmission fluid in the transmission

      I purchased a filter through a Ford dealership (BL3Z-7A098-A) for my 15 F150. No auxiliary inlet seal included.
      I think it may be related to the start/stop option that my truck does NOT have.
