  • Learn how to tie the double fishermans or grapevine bend in this tutorial. This knot is the knot to use when tying a prusik loop. It is also good for joining rope for rescue and rock climbing although it can get tight after loading.

Splicing three strand rope is easier than you think. learn how in my most popular video.

I tried learning this from an “animated knot” style video and it was about ten times faster than this. You are my new go-to! Cheers!

Agreed, the above is the best, clearest description of the few I've looked at for double fisherman's knot (some of which were hopeless!)

Thank you so much. I was trying to do this from some google images and I was unable to do it. You have such a knack for explaining this slowly, and considering this is the kind of thing that is really really important to get right - thank you so much.

This really helped me explain and demonstrate how to tie the knot in a manner that my 4 year old niece understood and learned from. Everyone thinks I'm crazy for teaching her stuff like this at such an early age... but I heard that last weekend she hog-tied her almost 2 year old brother... so I must be doing SOMETHING right!

It is never too early to teach kids stuff. As long as you do it playfully and not make it a pain for them. Especially manual activities, kids love them and it really helps develop bonds and passions.
Future engineers may simply be kids who messed around with wrenches with their dad or mom

this is a double overhand bend, not the slang "fisherman" unless you are wearing waders standing in a trout stream. It is NOT a KNOT it is a bend.
